La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Bessemer

Perfect location just off the interstate and plenty of parking. We loved The Seafood King restaurant which is just a five minute walk.

Clean rooms. Great breakfast. Very close to Alabama Adventure.

This hotel was the best we've visited in years! The rooms been remodeled with intentionality. You won't find dirty, stained window shades here. Instead, a sleek system of pulled window shades can shade or black out the sun. There are many plugs to recharge devices, including USB and c, and a backlit headboard on a comfortable, clean bed. An LED lit mirror hangs in the bathroom near the pump hand soap (no bars of soap here). Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are plentiful and top quality products. The shower is luxurious. In addition, the whole place is clean and manicured. I would stay here again and again.

Quite disappointed in this stay. We came down to move my daughter into her dorm & had higher hopes. When we finally made it back to the property the first day after a full day in the sun, we found that the room had not been cleaned or turned over. Which in turn required us to need a towel refresh. I called to request more towels & was told that housekeeping would not be back until 8am the next morning & we had to come down to get them from the desk. Simple, but frustrating after a 16 hour day. Our last day, when she was all moved in & we were able to rest before a LONG drive home, the day began with the housekeeper attempting to enter our room at 8am. We notified the property the day before that we would be checking out at 11am as requested on the app, but the ONE chance we get to sleep, housekeeping. She then returned less than an hour later, this time not even announcing who she was (or knocking AGAIN!) Thankfully, we had the extra lock on top so she was unable to enter both times. At that point we were awake & frustrated so we just packed up to check out. Got to the front desk to turn in our keys & the person there, dressed in a graphic tee & jeans, never stood up to even speak with us. I explained to her what happened with housekeeping & she said "she won't even supposed to go in there because we have it listed at 11am so I don't know what she doing." ... And that was it. Not even a simple apology. We know exactly where we won't be staying the next time we come to town.

The hotel was very conveniently located near the highway but far enough away to not hear it. Local restaurants were very nearby. The hotel itself seems like it was recently opened or redone so everything inside was great. The morning breakfast was excellent as was the staff, both when checking in and checking out.
