Saint John Harbourfront Hotel

The rooms, comfort and service are average. Parking is expensive. The lobby and check is crowded. Dining choices not very good. The pool very small.

Staff were nice, but was disappointed in the hotel as it was a touch outdated and parking is an issue if you have a bigger truck as it is all underground with low overhead.

We did not take breakfast as we personally think 60$ was a bit drastic on top of the 28$ a day parkings so 120$ for breakfast and parking for 2 days =no thank you!

This is a formerly terrific hotel that is very tired and needs to be refreshed. The headboard was peeling and not looking very inviting. The chair had and old slip cover that made it look like something you might find in a frat house and the walls around the windows were badly damage by moisture. These things made me wonder about the condition of the other things in the room. That said the sheets were immaculate and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also nice and clean. The pool needs a good scrubbing but was delightful to swim in none the lass. The things that made it ok was the price was quite affordable and I had a room with a view. On a final note I miss the glorious Sunday brunch in the lower level upscale dining room. I’m sure it was a business decision to replace it with meeting rooms but it was an elevated experience that lifted the status of this lovely hotel. I will stay again and hope there are some updates made by then. Thanks.

We stayed for one night and had a great stay. Check-in was simple and the desk clerk was very friendly. Parking across the street is very convenient and you don’t have to go outside as there is access from parking garage to hotel. We included breakfast when we booked and it was a buffet with lots of choice and good food. Location is amazing and easy access to everything uptown.

The hotel is older as previous reviews mention but they seem to be doing reno work. Our room was clean just dated with patch repairs. Parking was the biggest issue, the parking is at the mall across the street and the clearance is only 6’1”, no chance my truck would fit, thankfully there are 3 spots behind the hotel, I was able to make a 4th by parking partly on the sidewalk. Truck owners beware if you’re planning to park at the hotel, not sure what I would have done if I couldn’t park behind the hotel. There was also a family with an suv that had a roof carrier that wouldn’t fit either, I think the hotel should be upfront of the lack of parking for larger vehicles.

Very dissatisfied that parking was not included. After a family member, that had her own room paid twice to leave the parking garage, I called the desk. I was told to bring my ticket to the desk to have it validated. I was not told that there would be a $50 charge to my credit card on the phone nor was I told when I had it validated at the front desk. The main reason I chose this hotel was the price but ended up paying more with the parking fee. Will not be staying there again.

Check in was quick and easy. Parking was good but a little hard to manover with a truck.

The bed sagged in the middle. Very uncomfortable. Surprised at the $25 parking fee. Lovely boardwalk by the water.

The shower was missing soap in the bottle, Kleenex box was empty, entryway floor dirty, long blonde hairs on floor, lamps has a layer of dust on them

The bathroom wasn’t too clean, the shower was backwards for hot & cold, the bed was not comfortable so for what we paid not entirely impressed but the view was amazing!

Staff was friendly but that's the only good thing to say! The room smelled very bad, solid window so can't open to air it out. Air exchanger was noisy and did nothing to remove the smell. Tub is very small and outdated and the drain didn't close properly so the water ran out. There was mold on the tub calking. Avoid Room 514!

Bed was comfortable but the hotel is very dated. There was a fair amount of dust on certain surfaces of the room, the shower did not appear to be the cleanest, the non slip mat in the shower had been worn down, water pressure was not great and the internet connectivity was spotty. I tried to do some work on my laptop but could not successfully connect.

The location was excellent. The property demands updates which I believe they are attempting at this time. The room we were in was harbor view but there was one window we could not even see out of because of condensation. The one lounge chair we had should not have been in the room because it was so stained/dirty. Carpet was not clean The hotel was a wonderful place years ago and it can be that again.

First night was great. Second night every noisy party group around us most of the evening then picked up again around 430 till we left at 730.

Beds weren’t super comfortable, a bit old maybe. No microwave in the room, and short on plug-ins for chargers. Otherwise it was great. Very quiet, amazing view over the harbour, great location for walking Saint John Uptown, good, drinks and music. The biggest downside was the cost of parking, between $18 and $25 a day.

The public areas of the hotel are all very nice (lobby, halls, elevators, restaurant) All of the staff we encountered were excellent. We stayed for 2 nights and our room was on the club floor, a King Junior Suite. The club floor is the 11th but there is nothing special about it - not sure why it is called a club floor. Our room was nice and spacious but very lackluster. We had a city view and partial water view. The view was lovely. The room is carpeted and very dusty with bare minimum amenities. Tech wise, outdated. The seating area of the room with a sofa was just a dark little corner with a coffee table, no lighting at all. The coffee maker was nasty looking and there was even dust in the travel cup lids for the coffee. Thankfully there is fresh coffee available in the lobby. Basic bathroom.

Location was excellent but the rooms are dated are everything is worn out.

I wanted to love this property. I even upgraded our room to a harbor front view which I never do. This was supposed to be special. It wasn’t. Our first room had the seal broken on the window and water damage in the bathroom… the front desk was very nice and changed us rooms but the ac was broken in the second room, and by broken I mean it would cycle on and off about every 10 mins and when it shut off it sounded like somebody was entering through our door. We had the worst sleep of life. I just wanted to cry - actually my whole family did. The staff were friendly but I couldn’t get over that Expedia has this rated as 4.5 stars when it was worse than some of the 2 star hotels we’ve stayed at. I also agree with other comments that this doesn’t hold the Hilton name well and although the lobby was nice - the rooms need a lot of tlc. I was most concerned about the seal on the window and the integrity of the window panes… like I said I wanted to love this place but we couldn’t. The parking lot was very dark and there were some strange folks around outside the parking lot to put it politely.

The location is great, very central and great view of the bay from our room. The staff are also very friendly. That's about it. This Hilton doesn't live up to the brand name - it's holiday inn quality at best. This is fine, but the nightly rate is far too high for what you actually get. The rooms, lobby, and facilities are dated, although not sure what era they ever looked good.

The hotel itself is great but the communication after that was not pleasant. I got tricked on extra Breakfast charge. During booking (through Expedia), I selected “breakfast included” option for the hotel. When I read the itinerary, I noticed that the Room Details shown "Included amenities Breakfast for 2". I thought that was just a standard statement so I added a requests "Can we have breakfast for all 4, instead of only 2" on Expedia booking. Then on August 15 when we arrived, I asked breakfast for 4. The lady gave me coupons that written 4 so I thought it's all settled to have breakfast for 4 (3 adults, 1 child). Surprisingly I got invoiced on August 17, charging me for additional $20 breakfast each day. With HST and MAT, the invoice is $47.62 (I didn’t read the invoice that day). When I read it on August 22, I called Hilton and explained. A lady said she would give me refund. When no refund went through, I followed up on Sept 6. A gentleman said the charge is standard for the Room Type and they will be no refund for me. He said that Hilton will change extra breakfast for extra guest more than 2, even that extra guest does not go downstairs for breakfast. I said that this wasn't communicated clearly to me at the day when I arrived. He said too bad that I didn't book the hotel through them directly and I should talk to the third party that the booking was made. I felt tricked even though the invoice is not a lot. I shared this experience so that others can avoid unpleasant.

First - THE STAFF WERE FABULOUS!! My 1st room had absolutely zero visibility or view due to windows being 100% covered in dirt and condensation on the outside (I paid extra for a view) and the room had a strong very musty smell. They offered a free breakfast but I said no. The second room was better, although maintenance had to repair a broken toilet. The wallpaper was peeling off some of the walls and the vinyl coating on the headboard was peeling off. No laundry on hotel site despite website stating so - laundry could be sent out in the morning at $ per pound plus $20 delivery for return later that night (that is pretty expensive for one load of laundry!). Hotel charged a $75 security deposit PER NIGHT ($450 in my case). The guide button on the TV did not work. I called desk for help to use the remote and was advised they didn’t have a TV package for guide use. I asked about the Pay Per View and Movies on Demand as advertised on the website - I was told they didn’t have that either. Parking was $25 per nite but it was not at the hotel. I booked this hotel for specific amenities due to a month long travel in the Maritimes. Very disappointed!! They need to update their website. I would not recommend this hotel!

Room not as pictured. Ordered a suite and got a single room. Elevators not working. Almost $500 required for ‘incidentals’ - wasn’t even a mini bar for incidentals. Poor breakfast. 30 minutes to check in at midnight. Staff ok but a bit ambivalent

All staff were great, check in super, facilities nice. But, room needed to be vacuumed and dusted, was not ready to occupy. Short in towels, etc. towels arrived after third request, vacuumed the next day. Everything else about hotel was great, even about average breakfast.

My husband was sick during this stay.. the staff were awesome to help me with a wheelchair and extra supplies I needed during our stay. You guys were simply great! The staff went above and beyond to help us! You guys rock!

We found the staff very friendly and efficient.

Great location, but the restaurant/room service staffing was very low both nights we were there. Getting through to room service took over half an hour and multiple calls. When I reached them via the front desk, they said that delivery (for two slices of cake, so no cooking involved) would take at least an hour. The availability of room service was an important factor when we chose the Hilton over the Delta.

Staff were amazing. Got some problem with hotel.com but the staff of Hilton have done everything they could and even more to help us.

We have stayed here many times and we enjoy it. The boardwalk is right there with restaurants and entertainment so it’s a fun area to stay at.

Our stay at the Hilton was wonderful! It’s a perfect location to explore Saint John.

This hotel is located in the best location to explore uptown Saint John. There is a great boardwalk around the waterfront. Many dining options, stores and local breweries. We stayed on the 11th floor in a king room, it was large, harbor view and very quiet. We purchased breakfast when booking and it is a full breakfast will a lot of choices, highly suggest. Check-In and check-out were seamless. We parked across the hotel at Market Square and added it to her our room. They will validate your ticket at the front desk so you can come and go with your car if you want too.

The breakfast was kind of dissapointed about quality. The server charged us for $50, instead of the $40 that was the amount they offered at the reception. I let them know about it, and they said it will be corrected in the final receipt. I Have not received any receipt yet.

If you like a lobby lounge or dining anytime this hotel only offers breakfast, closes mid-afternoon and opens at 5pm and closes early nightly. However there are tons of other places within walking distance.
