Wir haben das Hotel über Hotel.com gebucht wo es hiess "Parkplätze vorhanden". Vorhanden heisst aber nicht beim Hotel (keine Zufahrt zur Innenstadt erlaubt) sondern in einem recht nahe gelegenen Parkhaus (Ermässigung durch Hotel). Achtung: Höhe auf 1.80 m beschränkt, wie in den meisten Parkhäuser der näheren Umgebung.

A nice, well kept hotel in a great area, right near the old bridge and and the center of the old city. Plenty of restaurants on the area, the hotel restaurant was completely full, so I didn't get a chance to try it other than the traditional German breakfast, but it must be good if they have a sign recommending reservations. I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Heidelberg.

A unique hotel and restaurant. Somewhat dated and quirky. Unfortunately there is no close and convenient parking, but that is to be expected in an old city center in Europe. If you are not fit enough to carry your luggage for about a half a mile, you need to look elsewhere. Large room with sitting area and private outdoor space as well. Good location for visiting the historic sites in Hildelburg, and becomes very quiet after the main tour groups leave for the day.

The BEST! We wouldn’t have enjoyed Heidelberg half as much without staying our 3 nights @ Hackteufel. Such a beautiful, historic building with an excellent restaurant and “Weinstube”. Also spectacular outdoor seating in historic Steingasse, looking at Karl-Theodor Brücke (Alte Brücke) on one end and Heiliggeist Kirche on the other end. We just LOVED our deluxe twin room on the 2nd floor (Liselotte Stube 4), which was located to the back of the building. All we could hear outside was beautiful bird song - no noise from Steingasse whatsoever. Our amazing room and the cool bathroom were spacious, comfortable and so well appointed. Hackteufel is a fabulously maintained and brilliantly-run hotel by the very hospitable owner, Frau Hellmich and her personable, helpful team. We also greatly enjoyed the tasty breakfast buffet, dinner and drinks at Hackteufel. If travelling by car: Park house P12 is only 350m away (next to “Bergbahnen”). Parking discount available at hotel reception. In the morning, it is possible to drive up to Hotel Hackteufel until 11am, which we did to load luggage into the car for departure. After 11am, the old part of the city is closed to traffic. Everything is in such close walking distance: Alte Brücke and Brückenaffe 100m, Heiliggeist Kirche 160m, Mall (Hauptstrasse) 200m, “Bergbahnen” (mountain cable car) 350m for a ride up to Königstuhl and stunning Schloss Heidelberg … Our stay couldn’t have been better :-)

Historical buildings are within walking distance and there are a couple of bus stops nearby. The hotel restaurant is charming with good food and service. Check out the unique light fixtures.

Central location, but a little challenging to reach because you have to negotiate small cobblestone streets and avoid the walking streets. But once there, it is very convenient. There is street noise, but they provide earplugs. Rooms are nice and restaurant is very popular, but we didn't have a chance to eat there. Perfect location for me because I was visiting the university there and only had to walk around the corner to meet my colleague.

Perfect location! Walk to everything so easily. A little loud outside at night on the weekend, but the thoughtful hotel owners included earplugs, and we all slept great in the large, comfy beds. Large room, super clean. Friendly staff. Amazing breakfast. 10/10 would stay here again.

Wir haben zwei Nächte im Hackteufel verbracht und waren begeistert. Erwähnenswert sind das überaus zuvorkommende Personal (Herr Massmann, Frau Jäger und Frau Hellmich). Wir hatten das Premium Zimmer direkt unterm Dach, welches sich besonders durch den herrlichen Blick aufs Schloss auszeichnet. Das Zimmer war sauber und modern ausgestattet. Das Frühstück hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt und ich rate jedem, auch zu Mittag oder zu Abend im Hackteufel zu speisen - die Küche ist hervorragend! Die Lage des Hotels könnte nicht besser sein. Beim nächsten Aufenthalt in Heidelberg würde ich wieder im Hackteufel absteigen.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend staying here. The staff were super friendly and very helpful, the rooms were very clean, and the breakfast was delicious. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. The location is perfect. We booked a triple room, and both of the beds (double and sofa) were comfortable. We loved the old/historic feel of the place!

We had a 3day stay in Heidelberg. The historical hotel was a few steps from the Holy Ghost Church and the Neckar River and Bridge in the historic section of Heidelberg. The room was very comfortable and clean. Great bed and shower. The staff and breakfast was great. Dinners in the restaurant were delicious authentic German meals. We definitely hope to be back.

I loved this hotel. We had a wonderful view of the castle from our window, the room was very spacious, clean and nicely decorated. We even had fresh natural flowers. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a nice restaurant. This property was by far the one I enjoyed the most during our trip in Europe. Highly recommend room 12.

The Family Suite is huge. It has a kitchen with refrigerator and dishwasher, 2 huge bedrooms, huge bathroom and an extra toilet. Property is near tourist attractions, shopping and dinning and grocery store. Near transportation. Front desk staff nice and helpful. Weekend has a band playing near old bridge, very festive. If you don’t like the noise, just close the windows. Suite also has a good a/c and a fan. No elevator going upstairs but we were ok with it. Highly recommended.

Einziger “Kritikpunkt”. Wenn es sehr warm ist (bei uns 33 C) wird es im Zimmer logischerweise aufgrund einer fehlenden Klimaanlage sehr warm. Das Fenster zu öffnen ist aufgrund der zentralen Lage in der Altstadt bis spät Abends keine Option, würde aber an kälteren Tagen aufgrund der Schallisolierung die Geräusche gut abschirmen

Lovely place to stay in the heart of the action in the Old Town. We had a huge room in mint condition with 2 large windows facing the street. Sounds of the ambience!! But a bit problematic when trucks roll in early morning. Ear plugs thoughtfully provided. Large immaculate bathroom. Decent breakfast, a bit boring as we stayed 3 days and there was not even one item changed. We arrived past midnight and very friendly and bubbly Patrick checked us in a jiffy. Special shout out to front office manager Denis for always being helpful and so so courteous!! Thanks much!!

Great property in the heart of the old town of Heidelberg. No AC which was difficult to get used to since we were there in July. Room was still very quiet for being located on the second floor above the Main Street into Heidelberg. Could be an issues if you go to bed early, but we would go to bed around 10:30 or so never an issue for us, and we had the windows open at night.

The upper room with the view of the castle was spectacular. It was in the hub of Heidelberg close to everything we wanted to visit.

Lovely place to stay in the heart of the action in the Old Town. We had a huge room in mint condition with 2 large windows facing the street. Sounds of the ambience!! But a bit problematic when trucks roll in early morning. Ear plugs thoughtfully provided. Large immaculate bathroom. Decent breakfast, a bit boring as we stayed 3 days and there was not even one item changed. We arrived past midnight and very friendly and bubbly Patrick checked us in a jiffy. Special shout out to front office manager Denis for always being helpful and so so courteous!! Thanks much!!

The employees were very nice, and always helpful, nothing but good interactions with them. Dennis was especially friendly, and helpful! The restaurant was wonderful, and we had several good meals there. The location is centrally located, and close to just about everything.

This hotel is right in the middle of old town, half a block from the #35 bus from the train station (get off at the old bridge). The rooms were individually decorated and quaint. The restaurant downstairs was delicious.

My kid and I both enjoyed the authentic vibe of this historic hotel in the heart of Heidelberg. The central location was awesome, but we were immersed in the hustle and bustle of the restaurants below and the cleanup afterwards. It’s noisy (especially with open windows to catch the breeze) but not unexpected. Try to park in structure P12 as the hotel offers discount vouchers (10€/night) instead of the usual rate. We didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant but it looked lovely and the staff were all delightful, especially Dennis (who hooked me up with a much-needed coffee each morning and provided insider tips). Location was perfect. A few people celebrating Christmas in the streets throughout the night. But we were provided earplugs, which helped. Breakfast was quality and the coffee great Hot pots of coffee waiting for us at our tables. Wonderful touch. And they kept our bags after checkout so we could explore without them prior to our train departure. Vielen Danke!

A nice, well kept hotel in a great area, right near the old bridge and and the center of the old city. Plenty of restaurants on the area, the hotel restaurant was completely full, so I didn't get a chance to try it other than the traditional German breakfast, but it must be good if they have a sign recommending reservations. I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Heidelberg.

Small, charming property in the "old town" section of Heidelberg. Easy walk to dozens of restaurants, bars, shops, Christmas Markets, museums, and the funicular tram for Schloss Heidelberg. Central location, but a little challenging to reach because you have to negotiate small cobblestone streets and avoid the walking streets. But once there, it is very convenient. There is street noise, but they provide earplugs. Rooms are nice and restaurant is very popular, but we didn't have a chance to eat there. Perfect location for me because I was visiting the university there and only had to walk around the corner to meet my colleague.

My first time In Heidelberg- As described in others reviews, the staff was exceptionally friendly! I had flowers with me and she offered me a vase and even to trim the stems! We also ate at the restaurant and we’re well taken care of. It was good, but the portions were a little small. Some of the reviews mentioned the noise because it is smack-dab in the Altstadt with cafes and restaurants just below.. so it is loud. But if the windows are shut and you use the provided earplugs it’s quite - I’m a very light sleeper and slept really good . But maybe when you book ask ahead of time if you can get a room facing the back of the building but not sure about the view . Also a water cooker or a little coffee machine would have been nice. However There’s a cafe downstairs too, and the coffee was lovely! We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the Parkhaus P12 along with all the surrounding ones were full. After searching for partaking for an hour, We ended parking near the Hauptbahnhof, Stadtwerke, and took Bus line 20 straight to P12/ Bergbahn station in about 10 min. From there it’s just a few minutes to the hotel! Super relaxed!

The BEST! We wouldn’t have enjoyed Heidelberg half as much without staying our 3 nights @ Hackteufel. Such a beautiful, historic building with an excellent restaurant and “Weinstube”. Also spectacular outdoor seating in historic Steingasse, looking at Karl-Theodor Brücke (Alte Brücke) on one end and Heiliggeist Kirche on the other end. We just LOVED our deluxe twin room on the 2nd floor (Liselotte Stube 4), which was located to the back of the building. All we could hear outside was beautiful bird song - no noise from Steingasse whatsoever. Our amazing room and the cool bathroom were spacious, comfortable and so well appointed. Hackteufel is a fabulously maintained and brilliantly-run hotel by the very hospitable owner, Frau Hellmich and her personable, helpful team. We also greatly enjoyed the tasty breakfast buffet, dinner and drinks at Hackteufel. If travelling by car: Park house P12 is only 350m away (next to “Bergbahnen”). Parking discount available at hotel reception. In the morning, it is possible to drive up to Hotel Hackteufel until 11am, which we did to load luggage into the car for departure. After 11am, the old part of the city is closed to traffic. Everything is in such close walking distance: Alte Brücke and Brückenaffe 100m, Heiliggeist Kirche 160m, Mall (Hauptstrasse) 200m, “Bergbahnen” (mountain cable car) 350m for a ride up to Königstuhl and stunning Schloss Heidelberg … Our stay couldn’t have been better :-)

We had a room facing away from the street so it was very quiet. Great location to walk to everything. It’s in a pedestrian zone so if you have a car you need to park in a parking garage about a 5 minute walk over cobblestones so take that into account if you have luggage. (15 euro per day after their discount.) They do have a small elevator.
