A wonderful place to stay in beautiful surroundings.

A wonderful stately home hotel on the edge of a quiet North Yorkshire village, with lovely staff, great rooms/suites, enchanting public rooms and an excellent breakfast. The restaurant was closed for dinner when we stayed (we knew this when we booked) but we were recommended to try the hotel’s sister establishment, The Bay Horse pub, just a 5 minute walk away in the village, where the food was first class. Both the hotel and the pub are highly recommended.

This is such a lovely place. Very personal, certainly when compared with chains. The food was excellent and the communal areas really lovely. The gardens were a nice surprise - we were expecting good landscaping but there was also really very impressive planting as well. We will be back!

Excellent 'taster menu' dinner, and good restaurant service throughout. A bit crowded out in the dining room and public rooms on our last morning by wedding photographers and preparations for the wedding that morning. Bill when presented had 2 extra bar drinks added in error.

This is a beautiful property, rooms are gorgeous and grounds are spectacular. Staff is excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would love to be able to come back.

We loved everything about this property! We stayed in the cottage, so each of us had a roomy bedroom. After staying in large cities for the previous week, we so welcomed walking on the quiet, peaceful, beautifully manicured trails on the property. The staff was so helpful. They booked the train for us from Leeds to London, which was an excellent experience. We couldn't have been more pleased with this property!!

Easy access from A1(M) and convenient for Harrogate and York. Our one night visit introduced us to a historic home, beautifully restored by the current owners. All the staff were exceptional; the house has interesting rooms, clean and beautifully decorated. Already looking forward to a return visit. Highly recommend!

We wanted an overnight stay on our way to the Lake District and found a perfect gem of a hotel. From the moment we arrived we were cared for by great staff. Our bedroom was a suite and just gorgeous. Dinner and breakfast were superb with plenty of choices. Wandering around the extensive beautifully manicured grounds we found the kitchen garden which is obviously used for a great deal of the food in the hotel. Just wished we could have stayed longer.

Lovely stay, great staff and 3 lovely cats! Great surroundings. A great stopover while traveling to Scotland. Close to motorway! Absolutely recommend the tasting menu, brilliant food and great experience!

Very disappointed with the room. It was absolutely minute and suitable only as a very small single. The bathroom window sill was filthy and clearly had t been dusted for a very long time. In addition there were dead flies in the bathroom. We complained and were moved to a larger room but charged an excess of £100 for the upgrade. Be very careful when booking and I recommend speaking directly to the hotel and make sure they tell you exactly which room you will be staying in.

We arrived earlier in the afternoon than we thought we would after a 200+ mile drive(we didnt pre book evening meal as not sure of journey time) but after asking for an evening meal this wasnt available!! The hotel wasn`t busy and indeed very few in the restaurant ! We ordered from the menu and obtained a sandwich and some chips!! seated in the drawing room on our laps!! The room was very quiet and all appeared lovely but upon closer inspection the bathroom floor was very dusty infact dirty and the base of the toilet was filthy! we left the room on the Friday morning and put the service room hanger on the door. We had an early evening meal in Knaresborough so we didn`t have to inconvenience the kitchen! When we got back to our room about 6ish our door was left unlocked !! the sign had been turned around to donot disturb! We went to reception and they apologised and said someone had been in to replace the milk and only one small bottle of water in the fridge. It had not therefore been cleaned so we still had the dirty bathroom!! we obviously didnt leave the hanger turned around but whoever came in the room to the fridge must have done this otherwise the donot disturb was being ignored. We cut short our stay and left on the saturday after our emmerdale tour. It was a great shame as the area was worth exploring but the whole experience ruined our first trip to the area. Its a beautiful hotel but attitudes and cleaning really need to be addressed to maintain 5star

Clean comfy and decent sized rooms, breakfast was good, the area is quiet. Nice views from the main rooms but a view of the kitchens and bins at the back for us, hence the dropped star, and that stopped it being value for money for us.

We had an excellent stay. Perfect accommodation. Great location, safe area, within 7 minutes driving distance to Allerton Castle. Managed to find free parking in the area. Our room was very clean and my favorite part was a barhroom. The only bad thing was to book an Uber, we tried twice and never arrived. Highly recommend this place.

Stayed for two nights bed and breakfast as a little break after our wedding. Could not fault the premises, room, bathroom etc. Breakfast excellent and staff warm and welcoming as were the owners who we bumped into on arrival. Absolute gem.

Beautiful hotel, lovely gardens. Roaring fire in the library. Friendly staff, lovely food. Would go back, only downside was the church bells chiming every hour, a rather hard bed and the TV in the next room was very loud so we struggled to get to sleep and had to get up for work the next day. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Gorgeous venue.

Really lovely to look round the gardens and vegetable area. All very organised. The staff were good. Dawn was so helpful. The breakfast good. The room great very comfortable but pillows were too hard for me. Bath lovely. Will hopefully stay again

We had a perfect anniversary getaway stay. The staff were wonderful, and the breakfast was a delight. Walking around the grounds was very peaceful. We would highly recommend this place for a quiet break.

We loved everything about this property! We stayed in the cottage, so each of us had a roomy bedroom. We loved our stay here and the staff were very helpful and friendly, we wish we could have stayed longer. The facilities were beautiful at such a reasonable price. The surrounding grounds were beautiful. We ate dinner at the pub down the street which was excellent. Would definitely stay here again and have recommended it to others.

Had a lovely stay at Goldsborough Hall. Only downside was lack of sleep due to the church clock striking the time every hour!

This is a fantastic place to stay and the staff were wonderful. We also had the taster menu in the restaurant in the evening and I would highly recommend - lots of amazing dishes and flavours. One thing would have been nice, after we had walked around the grounds and the village we went back to the hotel for a warm drink and asked if we could have something to nibble but nothing was available. I think the lovely lady took pity on us and fetched some biscuits.
