Another great stay. Room overlooks the seafront and pier, clean and nicely decorated. Hospitality tray including tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Comfy bed and pillows. Bathroom includes bath, rain shower and toiletries. Staff very pleasant thoughout hotel. Breakfast very good with choice of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt and various hot options, which are cooked fresh. Note there is no car parking on site, but several parking options nearby. Can recommend.

Very nice one night stay. Hotel is nicely located opposite Deal beach. Lady at check in was friendly and helpful. Really nice stay with very helpful and friendly staff nice room that looked very recently refitted. Only thing that lets the whole experience down is the parking which is public and quite costly if you are stopping in Deal

We just spent 3 very pleasant days at Dunkerley’s. It’s in a great location in the centre of Deal opposite the sea. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is excellent and great value.

The hotel is at a nice location but no place to unload luggage and car has to be in public car park. Our room itself was ok BUT it was in a horrible location and I can’t believe fire safety is ok with that: from reception 4 steps up to dining room, 4 steps down to the first door past kitchen and bathroom, then another door and 2 steep and narrow flights of stairs up to the room with very low ceiling and view of some backyards. The bathroom was also tiny and the breakfast was average. We were hoping for a small town waterfront hotel with water views but couldn’t sleep half of the night because we felt uncomfortable/unsafe

Excellent value for money with a really good breakfast . The location is fantastic - right on the sea front near the pier. Our room was on the 2nd floor up a fairly steep narrow staircase so may have been an issue for less mobile guests but was spacious and clean with good facilities including a bath.

A really lovely room with fantastic sea view over the beach and pier. Close to all major facilities in the historic town centre, and 24 hour public car park. Very helpful staff, and a great fish restaurant on the premises.

Really friendly, staff great. No parking on site but pay and display literally 2 minutes across road seemed safe enough. Seafront location, close to town. Breakfast delicious. Room 4 excellent for solo traveller, great views!

We stayed here before taking a cruise from Dover. Deal is an easy drive from the cruise terminal and a very pleasant seaside town. We really like Dunkerleys for it's lovely seafront location and convenient parking. The room was a good size and very comfortable. Breakfast was included and was excellent, and we both enjoyed the smoked haddock. We also ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night and had a delicious seafood meal that was extremely good value

Nice full breakfast. Great coffee. Very cordial staff. Very clean. Comfy beds. Wifi was excellent. Had a nice hot shower with good water pressure, even though I was on the top floor. Close to the station and walking distance from pretty much everything. Ian Dunkerley is a national treasure. Was such a pleasure to meet him. The view of the water from my room windows was phenomenal. Had a wonderful stay. Eager to return soon.

I was just wanting a little break by the sea. Found this hotel. What a find. Right on the sea front. Was given a free upfrade to a suite. I was so happy with the room. It was spotless. Bathroom was gleamingly clean. Bed was very comfortable and perfect crisp bedding. The view from the window over sea and pier. Had a drink in the bar, and staff were absolutely lovely all round. The bar offered a variety of meals. Breakfast had a complete range including a full english. Location to the sea front is obvious, but its also a great location to the high street shops. I only realised the hotel was busy at breakfast seeing other guests, as i didnt hear anything from others when in my room. The staff were friendly and helpful and i would love to stay here again.

The room was slightly dated with the usual random furniture however I cannot fault the cleanliness of the interior. The sea view was great but slightly spoilt by the dirty windows. The location of the hotel is great for exploring the town with everything within walking distance. We parked in the Beach Street car park as this gives you a longer stay and is only a short walk to the hotel. Staff and breakfast very nice, for a Tesco Clubcard Reward I would recommend

Nice room overlooking the sea but when we moved the cushions under the windows it was really dirty. My husband asked for an omelette on our second morning but was told the chef was too busy as a lot of people had all come down at the same time. My croissants turned up burnt the first time which I sent back and the second time they were rubbery. Obviously been put in a microwave. Not edible. We paid a lot of money to stay there for a couple of days so I expected better. I have to say that Jessica who served us breakfast was lovely though. Couldn’t fault her at all.

This was a cute city break stay. It was lovely for what it is. Staff was accommodating room, was clean and bathroom spotless. I would say it was as it shown on the pictures.

The property is in a great location - right on the seafront. The front of house staff were friendly as we checked in and we felt optimistic about our stay. The room was okay - basic, but does the job. The bathroom had a shower over bath situation - with a window shelf that was fairly dirty and a little offputting whilst your shower. The bed was comfy and the bedding good. The carpet was a little grubby. Breakfast was the point that let the stay down - the table we were sat at was super small so not everything can fit on it. This is partly driven by the fact your are given some strange condiments such as two large bowls of white and brown sugar. My partner got a full english, and I asked if they could do two boiled eggs even though they weren't on the menu (they do offer fried, poached and scrambled). I did apologise for being difficult and reassured that only if it was no trouble - they arrived not even hard boiled, but almost crispy on the inside they were so overcooked. I guess that was my fault for being difficult, but I wish they'd have just said no instead of getting an inedible breakfast (plus not sure I believe that a chef can't cook a boiled egg). Overall the staff were nice, the breakfast was good apart from the above, and the room did the job. For the price we'd stay again - but we wouldn't want to pay more.

Stayed for one night towards the end of July. Walkable distance from the train station. Facilities good overall, particularly the cleanliness of the bathroom and room. A piece of the furniture in my room had seen better days (no handles on one of the drawers of the chest of drawers). I would also have liked more charges points.

Shocking cleanliness and general quality. Bath plug didn’t work so couldn’t bath - and bath was filthy as was room in general Damp on the ceiling, bed was two beds together with wrong fitting duvet and beds kept moving apart. “Suite” is a very misleading description, was quite the opposite. I would like a refund

The hotel is very conveniently located, overlooking the beach & only a few minutes walk from Deal railway station as well as being close to the high street and supermarkets. The room was spacious, well presented and immaculately clean. Despite being above the restaurant, it was nice and quiet & I enjoyed a good night's sleep in the very comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly and professional. Good breakfast (included in the very reasonable price of the stay). Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Room was clean, but a bit tired. It was a hot night and a good fan was provided. The sash window wouldn't stay open, so we had to wedge it with the rubbish bin. The radiator in the bathroom was on (!) and the knob to turn it off was missing. We reported it at 5.45pm, but when we came back to the room after 9pm, nothing had been done. Phoned again and a lady did come up, went and fetched a spanner and pliers and, with help, was able to switch it off. Breakfast was good. Parking is a real issue - only public carparks with a 3 hour limit, although it's possible to keep buying more tickets, but you have to keep going back to do it.

Nice hotel right on the seafront with quiet en suite bedrooms. Nice and friendly staff with pleasant bar restaurant. Local parking easy but zoned.

Furnishings in the room were tired and scruffy…shower had poor water pressure. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.

The staff and service was amazing. Very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included and delicious! The room was a great size with extra amenities, toiletries and tea/coffee even hot chocolate. It's showing it's age and wear in places but it was super comfortable and would definitely return when the opportunity arises.

Another nice stay, although only one night. Staff really friendly and helpful, especially the young man who checked us in and lady who took our order at breakfast. It was a really hot night and air conditioning wasn’t working, however a small tower fan had been put in room, but didn’t really cool it down! Other than that good stay.

We had a room looking out onto the Seafront. Very comfy bed and nice sized room. Breakfast was very good as was the food in the restaurant and bar. The only negative was that shower wasn’t the best in terms of water pressure, but we’d stay there again because of the location, character and great breakfast. We loved it.

It was hot in my room due to the heat...even at night! Aircon didn't work...and when I asked them to fix it for my 2nd night stay it wasn't fixed. I felt they didn't care. Also early morning sun bashed into my room...why they not use black out curtains or blinds. Otherwise room was very clean and comfortable.

Everything was pretty good for a seaside hotel. The room was a decent size, the bed was comfortable, and the small bathroom worked well enough.The staff were very friendly and helpful. Oddly breakfast was a bit chaotic - tables not laid, coffee jug emptied, ditto orange juice. We went down for breakfast about 20 mins before the end and I'd guess we weren't expected.

Nice welcoming Hotel within 5 minutes of high street. Lovely view overlooking the sea and pier. Very nice breakfast and the evening meal was suitable for all tastes. Easy check out and would be happy to return.

What spoilt our stay at Dunkerley’s was the very poor service received when we had a meal in the bar in the evening and especially at breakfast the next morning. Staff weren’t at all welcoming or helpful, they gave us no information as to the procedure at breakfast, my husband’s breakfast of smoked haddock and poached eggs was very meagre, poorly presented and virtually thrown at him. We felt that we were very begrudgingly served. At the evening meal in the bar we were disgusted at being presented with an iPad where we had to choose how much service charge we wanted to pay when we’d had no service! It was all disgraceful and quality of food had certainly dropped since we were last there. Fortunately there were 2 wonderful receptionists on when we arrived and when we left , they are to be commended. Household staff were lovely too. We definitely won’t be returning.

Excellent room and great staff. Bar staff were superb. Hotel is about as good as it gets in Deal. Highly recommend.

After booking and paying in advance I was irritated by someone asking me to confirm that we would be attending. The Receptionist was rather abrupt too which not what we experienced whilst staying there.

The staff were excellent from first walking through in to reception to the time we left. The room was very good, clean and had all you needed. The food was excellent and service matched the food. A very enjoyable stay and will definitely be come back next year.

Overall hotel stay was good. Could do with a new shower as not very powerful & maybe few more staff, as only 2 staff available & was having to serve at the bar & cover Reception at the same time. Breakfast was lovely.

Lovely spot in Deal...quite classy. Lovely room and great breakfasts. Great service....would highly recommend it!

The room was fine, it was clean and I had a good sleep in the comfortable bed. However I feel the staff need to be more professional. Hearing them moaning about a colleague during breakfast wasn’t really very good. The older lady who I assume was the manager/supervisor was the worst culprit, all I could hear was her voice. They were trying to plan staff rotas which really should have been done in an office not in the bar area for all to hear in the breakfast room. Breakfast was average, no cut fruit offered, only an apple or banana and no pastries unless you asked for them specifically. They are a basic item in a hotel breakfast. No one came to reception for check out despite me ringing the bell and waiting a couple of minutes so I just left as had nothing to pay. It was convenient for where I needed to be but I certainly wouldn’t rush back. From my room I could hear the staff in the kitchen swearing, surely they should be aware of their location, plus bottle emptied into the bins at 9.30pm and then again at 7am was in my opinion unnecessary as it woke me up!

Lovely comfortable stay in an ideal location - within short walking distance of station and town centre. Clean room. Used the restaurant on both evenings and the food was excellent as were the breakfasts. Helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.

Have stayed here on several occasions over the years. Happy with service from staff and comfort of room 4, although bathroom radiator was still not working, (had same room previously). The disappointment was with the breakfast, this seems to have gone downhill a bit. Choice of breakfast cereals, fruit and juice, then cooked meal. I had scrambled eggs, which was dried and bland, (used to be delicious) and half a tomato, both of which were luke warm, not forgetting one slice of toast! My husband had full English which was smaller than usual, his was also luke warm. Used to have yogurt on table where cereals were, but none there, maybe you had to ask. There was no music on, so no atmosphere, again used to be. Hopefully this was a one off as we do enjoy our stays at Dunkerley’s.
