We had a lovely stay at Herdshill Guest House. Easy to find, easy to park and a really friendly, helpful and welcoming owner. Everything was spotlessly clean, we had a big room for 3 adults with a bathroom and great shower - plenty of hot water. The bedroom was spacious with large windows so the room was light and airy, even though we stayed during a mini-heatwave! The house is beautiful, we sat in the comfortable lounge reading our books and also went for a walk on the disused railway opposite the house. The beds were comfortable and we all slept very well. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, plenty of food, tea and coffee, all served with a lovely friendly manner. We especially enjoyed the potato scones - first time we had eaten them! We would definitely recommend this place, we stopped here on our way back from the Hebrides to Bristol and it was the perfect break.

This is a guest house/bed and breakfast, so can't really compare it to a hotel. In general it's very good, staffs are friendly, bed is comfortable, room is clean, if I have to moan about it, one of the towel is a little passed its best and frails at its edges and that's about it.

As we were traveling to Aberdeenshire we booked a 1 night stop over on our outbound and return journey. The owner and his staff were very friendly and accommodating. He provided us with a short history of the property which had been in his family for 4 generations. The rooms during both our stays were clean and comfortable with a team / coffee making facilities on the room and shower / toilet room attached. Breakfast was wonderful and set us up for the day. I would stay again and would recommend

The decor etc. is quite dated and a little tired in places, but comfortable and generally clean, and the owner was extremely helpful and welcoming. A great breakfast with good quality ingredients. Some attention to detail with cleaning would be helpful - eg some mould in shower, and bathroom fan grill quite grimy, the odd cobweb, and some accumulated dust in nooks and crannies. But could not fault bedding, towels etc., and the bed was very comfortable.

I don't have huge expectations at a low price as running a business is tough. A feather duster over the walls costs nothing. Replacing a rusty bin costs little. Unfortunately thin walls meant I was kept awake by next-door neighbours and they weren't having fun. Convenient location and comfortable bed made it ok. A little effort could make this place so much better.

We had a genuine warm welcome from Scott. He explained everything and even booked our evening meal at a nearby superb restaurant. The room had nearly everything we needed although another bedside table and some hooks would be most welcome. Breakfast was good and there was a great variety. Would definitely recommend here and it is great value.

Lovely rural area yet convenient, by car, to Glasgow, Edinburgh. Basically Lanarkshire and Ayr. Fantastic and helpful host who really cares about the property and his guests. Thank you for a relaxing 1st night stay and hearty breakfast to set us off on our whirlwind tour.

Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, plenty of food, tea and coffee, all served with a lovely friendly manner. We especially enjoyed the potato scones - first time we had eaten them! We would definitely recommend this place, we stopped here on our way back from the Hebrides to Bristol and it was the perfect break.

As we were traveling to Aberdeenshire we booked a 1 night stop over on our outbound and return journey. The owner and his staff were very friendly and accommodating. He provided us with a short history of the property which had been in his family for 4 generations. The rooms during both our stays were clean and comfortable with a team / coffee making facilities on the room and shower / toilet room attached. Breakfast was wonderful and set us up for the day. I would stay again and would recommend

Overall, a really good stay and excellent value for money. The decor etc. is quite dated and a little tired in places, but comfortable and generally clean, and the owner was extremely helpful and welcoming. A great breakfast with good quality ingredients. Some attention to detail with cleaning would be helpful - eg some mould in shower, and bathroom fan grill quite grimy, the odd cobweb, and some accumulated dust in nooks and crannies. But could not fault bedding, towels etc., and the bed was very comfortable.
