Lovely location. Attractive old country inn. Friendly & helpful staff. The weather was good, so we were able to sit out in the nice tiered garden. Our room was very comfortable and clean, with a good shower. The downstairs bar and restaurant area is looking tired and needs redecorating. The food was very good with a good menu choice. Our breakfast was excellent and presented to order. Overall our stay was most enjoyable and very good value for money..

Great nights stay, lovely comfy bed and clean room. Breakfast had great choices with generous portions and the cooked option was delicious. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, they gave us a great recommendation for where to go for dinner on the Monday evening that we stayed ( the kitchen is closed on a Monday and Tuesday for dinner) There is a small car park at the side of the hotel and some parking available opposite, we had no problems getting a space.

Arrived late afternoon and were greeted by a ni e young lady. Quickly shown to room. She even carried our bags for us. A spotless room, nicely decorated with lovely walk on shower. Comfortable beds with fresh clean linen and choice of towels. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal at competitive prices followed. A couple of well presented and tasty trad ales finished the night. A thouroughly delicious breakfast was served by the landlady prior to our leaving. The Talbot is a friendly traditional pub serving a good selection of well kept drinks Well priced . There is a handy free carpark. Dogs are welcome only in the bar. The stairs to bedrooms may prove difficult for disabled guests otherwise the Talbot is an excellent inn to visit and stay.

Lovely gem of a place, quaint little village. Excellent pub/hotel, made to feel very welcome, room was lovely and food fantastic. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Well worth a visit.

Pros: Friendly staff, comfy bed, clean room and bathroom. Cons: Cupboard door in bathroom needed repaired, clutter and furniture stored in the hallway across our room, dinner could do with seasoning. But lovely helpful service made up for these inconvenience and our breakfast was delicious too.

A lovely place to stay with ample parking. Close to the hotel was some nice walks that you can go on. The room I stayed in looked newly furnished and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food; particularly the free breakfast had a wide range to choose from and was good quality. I would recommend this hotel.

Initial thoughts were very good.. All appeared very clean with plenty of room in thr room and appearance of being recently refurbished. Tbe big let down was a stained duvet cover on one of the beds.. This really isn't acceptable. Not complaint was made, we just turned it over snd around so not in contact..

Overnight stay - mattress uncomfortable, probably tired as had a metal band around the top of the mattress which rubbed on us overnight Meal - first course fine but desert of Banoffi had very little banoffi in it but was smothered on squirty cream. Expensive at £6.95.

We enjoyed a great overnight stay after visiting Powis Castle. Check in was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was great and the shower was fabulous. Breakfast was excellent with well cooked quality ingredients. Every member of staff we encountered were superb. For the price you cannot go wrong.

Perfect stay, the photos on the website don’t do this place justice! My room was well sized and recently refurbished and spotless. Breakfast was really nice and free and was asked if I want more and was certainly full after it! Will be staying again soon.

Our recent stay at the Talbot hotel was a very pleasant stay, with friendly efficient staff. Our room was in the loft of building and up a couple flights of stairs. This wasn't a problem for us but thought it was nice of hotel to contact us directly before trip to make us aware just incase it was an issue. The room was a comfortable clean room. Breakfast was delicious and the little town of Berriew was just so pretty and a pleasure to walk through. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed overnight with my 8 year old son. The staff were very welcoming and catered to all our needs. Our room was spacious and well equipped it was also very clean. The breakfast next morning was very nice and cooked to order. The only complaint I have is it was very noisy and I didn't sleep very well due to inconsiderate other guests coming to and fro their rooms and talking loudly outside my door.

Has to be the best value Hotel in the area. My Bedroom was large, with modern decoration, on suite shower room was great. I'm not small, so a sizeable shower is important. Bed was excellent, comfortable and surrounding area was very quiet at night. All spotless clean. Breakfast was freshly cooked with proper tasty sausage, bacon and poached eggs with runny yolks. It doesn't get much better than that. Absolutely excellent value. I'm back in the area again this week, guess where I'm staying..... Thank Jackie for making my stay a great experience.

Fantastic hotel. We stayed for two nights bed and breakfast. We were attending a wedding locally. The host was fabulous. Very personable and friendly. She made us feel so welcome. Helped us with anything we needed. Even helped when we couldn’t get a taxi and drove us personally to our venue. Amazing service. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Breakfast lovely. Would definitely recommend this hotel x

What a lovely hotel- very comfortable room - amazing breakfast and lovely village location. We went on a fab walk from the hotel along the canal to welshpool and caught the bus back. Approx 6 mile walk . Really recommend this hidden gem !

The Talbot was ideally placed for our visit to Powys castle. Reasonably priced and comfy room. The immediate surroundings are beautiful and the food service was good. The only negative was the shower, it only had 2 settings, freezing and scalding

Lovely room with modern facilities and period features. Friendly, welcoming staff (and cat) and good, wholesome food. Quiet, peaceful location, central for many interesting places within an hour's drive. Would highly recommend.

Overnight stay - mattress uncomfortable, probably tired as had a metal band around the top of the mattress which rubbed on us overnight Meal - first course fine but desert of Banoffi had very little banoffi in it but was smothered on squirty cream. Expensive at £6.95.

Pros: Friendly staff, comfy bed, clean room and bathroom. Cons: Cupboard door in bathroom needed repaired, clutter and furniture stored in the hallway across our room, dinner could do with seasoning. But lovely helpful service made up for these inconvenience and our breakfast was delicious too.

The manager and staff were so helpful and friendly. The room was very clean,tidy and very welcoming. The food was excellent and I will always remember the steak and ale pie and the sticky toffee pudding. It was obvious it was all made within the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone heading for Welshpool and the remainder of Wales. Thank you again to all the staff

We enjoyed a great overnight stay after visiting Powis Castle. Check in was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was great and the shower was fabulous. Breakfast was excellent with well cooked quality ingredients. Every member of staff we encountered were superb. For the price you cannot go wrong.

As a single woman staying in a room I was made to feel very welcome, nothing was to much trouble .The meals are of plenty and very nice all home cooked .photos on hotels.com do not do the size or cleanliness of the rooms or en-suites Will definitely be staying there again

A friend and I spent a long weekend here in order to visit Powis Castle nearby. We had a warm welcome, our room had been recently refurbished and tastefully decorated, keeping many original features of this very old building. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Would recommend this hotel.

Very clean room, very comfy, the bed was a disappointment as it was two small singles pushed together to make a double which wasn't very comfortable, the food however and staff were excellent couldn't fault either, mind your head though on the low beams they hurt a lot
