I dont want to knock this hotel & its product eg spa hotel but i think it was interesting. i wanted to take my 23 year daughter on a long weekend spa break near a beach w/ good restaurants and antiquing. I didn’t research to see this is a medieval themed hotel but historically built in 2013. my first room they offered me was in the carpark & noisy from the minute i arrived, dark and dated. I asked to be moved, i am a platinum member on hotels.com & was moved to another room, bigger, better bathroom and in main building but over the kitchen looking onto the carpark. We were happy to not be in carpark. My daughter booked spa appointments & the team there were friendly and the treatments good standard. We were ok with the little gym as nobody uses it, efficient and machines work. People were using the pool, jacuzzi and sun loungers because it was august and it has been the hottest summer in 30+ years. However i realised that the spa and facilities have local members and there were a lot of locals using the pool & the staff T/4 are busy and we sat in the 6th row of loungers but we got one. I found the F&B to be excellent and every meal was high standard but the people serving varied. The culture of team not consistent like The Pig. I am American, British Passport but didn’t feel the love. I travel globally & just felt like an outsider (married to a Brit, two British kids, 28 years here). Cant put my finger on it but couldnt give this a 5⭐️. Mattresses poor. Easy fix.

This was, unfortunately, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Upon entering our room, we discovered bed bugs on the curtains, as well as brown stains on the bed sheets and pillows. As we were traveling with small children, staying in such unsanitary conditions was absolutely not an option. We immediately went to the front desk to request a room change, but there were no staff members available, as they had already left for the night. Left with no other choice, we left a written note at the front desk detailing the situation and immediately sent an email requesting to cancel our reservation. To date, we have received absolutely no reply. I am deeply disappointed and appalled by the complete lack of communication and the unprofessional, insincere manner in which this serious issue has been handled.
