The Royal is an old hotel in a historic building, so fuĺl of charcter and charm. There is a lift but I then had to go down some three steps then a full flight to get to my room. Anyone with mobility issues might want to check. The single room and bathroom were spacious and as a single traveller I felt welcone. Staff generally very good. Breakfast choices excellent. Lovely location and gardens. Would recommend.

From the moment I arrived & walked into the large, light, open foyer I felt comfortable. Lovely Welcome from Molly on Reception, & an immediate answer to my first Question? The Hotel Car Park across the road was already full, where do I go? I checked in, my bags were unloaded & taken to my room, & I parked my car in the Hotel's 2nd car park, just round the corner. I felt very at ease throughout my stay. Room 8 looked over the gardens, newly refurbished bathroom, shower only. Very comfortable bed, easy access to the town, 5mins flat walk, the beach 8mins, all down hill. Every member of Staff Exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous choices at Breakfast, in a spacious room, with high ceilings, over looking the gardens. Lovely setting for the Swimming pool, comfortable sunbeds, also plenty of tables & chairs to sit outside in the gardens. Any revisit to the IOW, I know where I'll be staying.

Great site, lovely views, excellent staff and excellent food. Because of its age there were some more modern touches needed. The gardens were well looked after & had beautiful flowers. Our bathroom shower needed some modernisation. Very close to the seafront and reasonable close to the town. The outdoor swimming pool looked very nice.
