I arrived for an evening check in through the friendly atmospheric pub and after reading the notes the person gave me the higher floor room I had requested. The room was a good size with top quality style bedding, large flat screen tv, hot drink making facilities and wardrobe space. The bathroom was a good size too and the shower was great after working out how to change the flow from the lower level tap. There is an info card in the room asking for the bathroom door to be kept closed at all times. This is good advice-I experienced just how sensitive the room fire alarm was as it was activated from very minimal and invisible steam from the shower! Free parking on site for guests and there is ample space. Details need to be registered.

We were very pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Red Lion. We were in a family room which was large. The bathroom was big too. Bed linen and towels were excellent. There was plenty of tea and coffee in the room. We had dinner in the evening and the food was really good. The staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere in the pub was so comfortable. This place is a great find. The oldie worldly pub with great accommodation. The room we had was huge (number 4); very comfortable and all services needed. The staff are the best asset of the place; friendly, welcoming and attentive. Plenty of parking on site, very close to the rooms. We have stayed in several places in the Ormskirk area but none compare to this place. Well done all and keep doing what you are doing. See you when next in area.

Had a good stay, the hotel was perfect for our needs. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and attentive.Food was great, especially the breakfast. Located in a lovely village. However during our 4 night stay and having placed the ready to clean sign on the door when leaving each day, our room wasn’t freshened up. wonderful place to stay :) very clean and staff extremely friendly. only downside, the bathroom smelled like someone previously smoked inside. we are not smokers therefore this was uncomfortable and unpleasant for us.

Room had ceiling leak in the night despite work being carried out to fix it days before. Shoes were full of water and the room was very damp- carpet soaked. Was not informed at check in and when complained was told they could do nothing about it as we had booked through a 3rd party. Check in was chaotic and payment had tried to be taken before it should have been ie it was pay at the property

We stayed overnight recently. The room and en-suite was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. The room wasn’t big but it had everything we needed. We had a lovely evening meal and breakfast and will certainly stay there again if we are in the area. Thank you.

Stayed here for one night,as picking my daughter up from uni for summer and we live 4 hours away. We have stayed here over a year ago and since then the rooms have had an upgrade with new bathrooms and furniture They are lovely and cosy and really clean. Fabulous improvement. Staff are so friendly and the it’s a lovely,warm and welcoming pub. Had food here and it was beautiful. No complaints at all.

Overall very clean property, staff were set to help as I walked in . However, the room was cold because the doors face a garden I believe and sadly there was a tiny space in between it that air was coming through if ... I wish the gap could have been closed. The rooms are not noise cancelling too, because I heated all night long someone snoring, bless them ... and I had an exam the following day, luckily , I passed the exam.

We had issues from arrival. We had to request change of a bath towel which should have been designated as sandpaper. The room attendant was courteous and said they were having problems with their laundry provider. We next had problems with the radiator in the bedroom. We couldn't regulate it as the control knob was turning freely. We went to the bar and asked for help. The barman said it would take a while and they might need to check the boiler... he obviously did not know how thermostatic valves are supposed to work. No one ever came to help us! After several efforts involving pushing down on the knob and turning at the same time, we eventually got the radiator to shut off. The heat in the room was stifling and we had to keep the window open for quite a while... though the window itself doesn't open out very much... we had to make do. Even though the radiator was off, the pipes below the radiator are carrying hot water - so we were unsuccessful as getting the room to a comfortable temperature. Though we would never stay there again, we would suggest to those who might, to not take rooms on the ground floor. The floors to the rooms above are noisey and creaking as residents move across the floor. Soundproofing is a big issue... unless you do not mind listening to upstairs TV.

A very nice village pub, the staff were very friendly, the room was nice and clean and spacious, breakfast was good. Unfortunately the heating was stuck on and a noise of what we would describe as boiler pump was on which made the night uncomfortable, this was reported to reception.

The property is at the back of the pub and not part of the pub and therefore it’s quiet. The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard . There was a bath and shower in our room . The bed was huge and very very comfortable , we slept well. We would have liked a choice of the cost for breakfast . ie a price for a light breakfast as we had to pay a fixed cost but didn’t want a full cooked option. However , this accommodation is great value for money and is convenient for the motorway .

I stayed here for 5 nights whilst my wife was undergoing planned surgery at a nearby hospital. My wife stayed with me on the first and last night. The accommodation, hospitality and location were perfect for our needs. We booked a family room to give us a bit of extra space and were more than happy with the newly-refurbished rooms . (On the last night the hotel staff happily relocated us to an identical ground floor room following my wife’s surgery.) The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, extremely cosy with easily-controlled heating and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast and evening meals, which we took on a pay-as-you-go basis were delicious; piping hot, ample portions, well presented and served pleasantly and speedily. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble! I’ve already told my wife that if ever she needs her other hip doing we’re coming back here to stay!

We had issues from arrival. We had to request change of a bath towel which should have been designated as sandpaper. The room attendant was courteous and said they were having problems with their laundry provider. We next had problems with the radiator in the bedroom. We couldn't regulate it as the control knob was turning freely. We went to the bar and asked for help. The barman said it would take a while and they might need to check the boiler... he obviously did not know how thermostatic valves are supposed to work. No one ever came to help us! After several efforts involving pushing down on the knob and turning at the same time, we eventually got the radiator to shut off. The heat in the room was stifling and we had to keep the window open for quite a while... though the window itself doesn't open out very much... we had to make do. Even though the radiator was off, the pipes below the radiator are carrying hot water - so we were unsuccessful as getting the room to a comfortable temperature. Though we would never stay there again, we would suggest to those who might, to not take rooms on the ground floor. The floors to the rooms above are noisey and creaking as residents move across the floor. Soundproofing is a big issue... unless you do not mind listening to upstairs TV.

This place is a great find. The oldie worldly pub with great accommodation. The room we had was huge (number 4); very comfortable and all services needed. The staff are the best asset of the place; friendly, welcoming and attentive. Plenty of parking on site, very close to the rooms. We have stayed in several places in the Ormskirk area but none compare to this place. Well done all and keep doing what you are doing. See you when next in area.

Had a good stay, the hotel was perfect for our needs. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and attentive.Food was great, especially the breakfast. Located in a lovely village. However during our 4 night stay and having placed the ready to clean sign on the door when leaving each day, our room wasn’t freshened up. No clean towels or replenishment of tea and coffee facilities. Overall enjoyed stay and would definitely return

We were very pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Red Lion. We were in a family room which was large. The bathroom was big too. Bed linen and towels were excellent. There was plenty of tea and coffee in the room. We had dinner in the evening and the food was really good. The staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere in the pub was so comfortable. We really cannot fault anything. There was plenty of car parking space. Value for money this stay was amazing. We would return for certain if we needed to stay in this area. Only 10 minutes off the M6.

Very welcoming, although due to unforeseen circumstances, no evening meals were available, only breakfasts, not a big problem as there were other eateries nearby, however the staff were apologetic about the situation and were all friendly and helpful. The hotel room was clean and tidy with a big comfy bed and I got a good nights sleep there. The room appliances I used all worked OK too.

The property is at the back of the pub and not part of the pub and therefore it’s quiet. The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard . There was a bath and shower in our room . The bed was huge and very very comfortable , we slept well. We would have liked a choice of the cost for breakfast . ie a price for a light breakfast as we had to pay a fixed cost but didn’t want a full cooked option. However , this accommodation is great value for money and is convenient for the motorway .
