Stayed 2 nights

The staff at The Bear Inn are terrific: it’s a family-run business and nothing was too much trouble. You soon will get to know everyone’s name a they will remember yours; it’s the little things that set a small country Inn apart from the bigger and soulless enterprises. Check-in was easy and, although we originally planned to stay for a couple of days, we were made so welcome, decided to stay for two more. Our day always started with an excellent and leisurely breakfast which really set us up for a day of exploring and visiting attractions. There is lots to see and do in the local area; you can dive underground into some of the local guided cave attractions, ride in vintage cars, trams and trains, or fly through the air in a cable car. Back at The Bear Inn and after a full day out, you can wind down with the delights of a superb and varied menu, all washed down with well kept ale. The Bear Inn is a really old coaching house, steeped in history; lots of small rooms with exposed beams and fireplaces, make for a cozy and comfortable place to stay or just eat out. So, the next time we looking for places to stay in Derbyshire, The Bear Inn is right at the top our list.

Nice location for a quite evening. On arrival the member of staff was welcoming and showed us to our room. I was a little disappointed as i had called the day before to ask for an upgraded room (willing to pay) was told it was sorted but ended up with standard room. It was clean but small and dont think it was worth the £150 per/night. The food on the evening was very good with big portion and after the starters the main was a challange. I was a little disappointed with seeing staff using vapes whilst in the bar area when guests are told that smoking and vaping is outside only. However overall its a lovely building and our stay was enjoyed.

Friendly staff and room was a little compact but had everything we needed. Breakfast was just fabulous and locally sourced.

Lovely 15th century pub with lots of character and beautiful setting. Family run and they really couldn’t have done any more to help us and make our stay a good one. Food exceptional.
