Crazy Bear Stadhampton

It was ok only pub to get warm in, as it was all out door seats, not much starf about to light out door heating, its was ok i give it 6 out of 10 food was good give tgat 10 out if 10 room a bit over pride

First appearances, very quirky, and eclectic decor which was just great. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Thai based evening dinner selection was just fantastic. My only crisisisms were some of the outdoor spaces were a bit tired and used glasswear etc was not cleared from some of garden seating areas in a timely mannar, making the area unappealing. Having said that, on departure, the manager was more than helpful and seemed genuinly interested in our comments, with a keeness to make a difference and put things right.

Loved the theme of the hotel, and the 'snug' room came within budget for a business stay. They were suffering from flooding in the main restaurant due to the recent bad weather so only the Thai restaurant was open, but the food was excellent although a little expensive for business expenses! Would suggest lowering room and food prices a little to accommodate business users a little during the working week? The room could do with a little maintenance as some elements were a bit tired. Body wash in shower was empty. Would have liked a kettle for tea making as the coffee machine didn't work properly. Lack of sockets in room for phone charging. No bedside lights, only main room lights. Bed was VERY comfy and room quiet so no complaints there. Liked the branded dressing gowns in the wardrobe! Overall enjoyed my stay though

Excellent staff who went out of their way to ensure we were well looked after. Very friendly and professional. Thai food was exceptionally good and very authentic. Other clients tended to be nouveau riche underclass - noisy and uncouth. Farm shop is a must to visit.

The hotel and grounds itself, it very quirky and clean. The sitting area is very nice and loooks lovely in the evening. The Boujee room was great. From the comfortable bed, to the unique bath. We also had a decking area where we could sit outside which was an added bonus. Onto the slightly more negative comments. Whilst the room was lovely, we had no idea how to work the aircon, lights or bath. It wouldve been nice if someone gave us a quick tour before leaving us to it. We were also told that the Jacuzzi jets in the bath were disconnected and does not work, which was disappointing. It would've been appreciated if a member of staff would walk round the grounds in the evening to make sure everyone was ok. Us along with a couple of other guests were saying how cold it was outside yet none of the fire pits were lit or the gas heaters were moved into an area where people could use them. Lastly, we were told we had to leave an £150 deposit which would be given back at the end. £150 felt abit steep to be honest. To summarise, it is a really quirky place to stay which I assume why its a tad pricey. The rooms, staff and grounds are great, however there is nothing to do at all which is walking distance. Drinks service whilst sitting outshde is non existent. Lovely place to stay, but would like a little bit more outside outside of the actual room.

The room was beautiful and I had a memorable stay. Staff were welcoming and the venue had a nice atmosphere. The only negative was the shower hose was difficult to adjust and could do with a refurbish.

This was our second stay, the previous one being around 5 years ago. It was a convenient location for a night before our daughter’s graduation in Oxford. The deals on offer also made it one of the best value hotels in the region. The wacky and fun theme of Crazy Bear is fun for a short stay, though some of the carpets are looking tired in places. We chose to eat out but did return for a nightcap in the bar. This was a rather disappointing experience, the prices were high at £11 each for an Irish coffee and a Baileys coffee, both were served in dumpy glasses rather than the usual and were tepid rather than hot. We were almost the only guests present so the atmosphere was not great despite all the attractive surroundings and lighting . When we checked out we weren't even asked if we had a nice stay. I’m sure the Crazy Bear thrives on event nights but in between it is rather too quiet and I can’t help thinking that some changes to draw locals in would help.

Having to walk past a bunch of residential homes to get to. The Furniture was very outdated with paint flaking off - notably on the bed with space for two hands and cracks in the mirrors. Trying to control the many a lights was like trying to control a spaceship. No atmosphere but the staff were lovely 5* prices but not a 5* experience.

We arrived and there was no one in the reception area so we were walking around till we could find someone, our room had a horrible smell of damp and big brown water stains on the velvet ceiling I’m assuming from a leak the area by the radiator smelt rotten, the bed was very uncomfortable and a lot of things in the room have seen better days. Otherwise it’s fine, I’m sure the room would have been lovely when it first opened by in need of a deep clean, refurb and the damp smell.

Terrible room, mould in bathroom, peeling decor, condensation, shower gel empty, room directly below smoking area, no breakfast, asked for a refund, offered £150 off next stay, refused and got pushed us back to Hotel.com, great value at £300 a night, not. We did have a great Thai meal but that was about it.

The hand wash in the bathroom was empty and when reported su was given some shower gel sample bottles!!! The phone in the room did not function or not answered so had to come down to reception to report. Also disappointed that the Thai restaurant is closed on Tuesday which was not mentioned in the website!! So we had to eat what was on offer in the English restaurant. The hotel grounds and garden was beautiful with the greenery and the lights I accept the Rustic theme but seemed a bit outdated!!!! The staff at the bar were helpful and seemed helpful!

The room smelt of damp and the bed linen was also damp and didnt smell fresh. On checkout I asked that a manager call me, 6 Days later and still not heard!

They Made us pay £100 extra for a room that we already booked and paid for originally. Cobwebs all over the room carpet was dirty The bath took five hours to fill up The food in the restaurant was despicable Won’t be going back any time soon

We had the tiniest room (Snug) for the price we paid i really expected more. The decor needed upgrading, filthy carpets, wall paper peeling off probably due to the fact the bathroom steaming up as it had no windows. Windows in bedroom not even double glazed. Shower had no door so water went everywhere. Food was also extortionate. Outside decor was lovely, staff really friendly. Paying the price i did, id rather stay at a hilton

Room was covered in cobwebs, had toe nail clippings on the carpet and someone else’s dirty sock by the bed. The room needed a good clean. Really disappointing for the price and the room was the decadence suite so not a cheap one. Wouldn't stay again, cleanliness is a non negotiable for me.

Lovely concept however couple of disappointing factors where that our heating was not working and the room was cold however they gave us a couple of portable heaters! Some of the furnishings where worst for ware, velvet was coming away. We was in room 9 and there was alot of outside noise and about 5am someone smashed glasses outside our room then could hear it being cleaned up then righjt behind our room must have been building work and could hear a drill about 8am and van doors slamming and could also hear the people staying above us walking around and hear the shower running.

There was no bathroom door fitted, this prompted discussions around bathroom activity that shouldnt be had during a romantic break. The lack of receptiveness from staff around this issue was also disappointing. This soured the experience especially considering the price! Other than that the room was amazing.

Loved the style of this hotel, it’s beautiful all over and so lovely to stay in. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the pillows were really soft and lovely.

Having high expectation for our first visit, was rather excited at the prospect of a night at the establishment. Parking was amply and check in was rather pain free, They do take a £150 deposit for incidentals, not an issue. Entering the room from a rather steep and narrow staircase with uneven floor, the initial impression of one the room had been shoe horned into a corner at the top of the building. I appreciate the room was the Snug type (only one available) but it really was a shoebox of a room, no where to sit and relax other than on the bed, extremely cramped when getting changed, but what made it worse was the lack of working air conditioning, extremely humid room and no one to cool down. Reports to reception were greeted with it takes 10 minutes to activate the air con, never heard so much tripe in all my life. Simply a tactic to not take the issue seriously. Having claimed to have visited the room we were reassured all was not operating. Sorry, absolute no difference, it seemed any further interaction with reception would result in similar ineffective results and would put a further damper on our stay. So we simply pretended the room was a Sauna !! The Thai restaurant, service was good but the food was immediately forgotten, extremely overpriced, lacking in taste and quality ingredients Oddlyly enough when checking out the £150 previously taken was not to be utilised to take off the bill, this was paid separately and the £150 to be returned several days

Absolutely fantastic as a nice getaway with quirky rooms and excellent food! The staff were very helpful, we will definitely be back again. 10/10

Supposed to be a bit special and luxery. Very disappointed woth service and a real let down compared to becconsfield. Only thai reseruant open with no prior notice of other closures. Sat around in resteraunt for 15 mins then had to walk round to fins someone to serve us, same detial at breakfast no staff anywhere. This was amplified again at checkout, no one in reception(bus) had to walka round to fins staff, girl eventually came but couldt work till so messed around for another 15 mins, no applogies given. Nice hotel, very poor service

On check in we were gifted an upgrade and given the option of two rooms which was quite unexpected. The staff were happy and chatty with us. We had a meal in the Thai restaurant which was really delicious. Nothing really to fault

My room was tiny, which is fine, but the decor could only be described as fevered dream in a Travelodge. Moreover the only plug point in the room, which was across the room, was obstructed so I could not plug in an Apple charger. It is inexcusable to not have proper plug points in 2024, I had to connect to a plug point outside the room. The service over dinner was excellent, the two young ladies were very responsive to our needs. The checkout procedure was strange to say the least. Apparently a forensic audit of the room is needed in order that your deposit is released. The reception staff is surly, the decor looks like the chic was forgotten in the design brief of shabby chic, the food is average, the only bright spots are a decent wine list and great dinner service. Definitely not worth the price.

Was really good we were room only, very bougie for our wedding anniversary. Would of given it 5 stars but there was a delay in getting the security deposit back which was debitted and not held! Had to chase to get it credited back to our account.

Had a fabulous stay at the crazy bear. Our room was very comfortable and the staff are all very attentive. We ate at the English restaurant; wedding menu tasting. Ryan our waiter went above and beyond to make our meal perfect! No complaints but a bedside lamp would be useful

The property is absolutely a hidden gem!!! My husband and I absolutely loved the decor and everything the property offered. We stayed in a suite that screamed vampire vibes, which we TOTALLY love!!! We also had dinner and breakfast on property. The blackened cod with asparagus was perfect and my husband had the pad Thai, which he also raved about. Breakfast was also exquisite! The staff was super friendly and the manager was so personable. We can’t wait to stay there again.

Great experience and the Thai restaurant was fantastic!

Our first visit with high expectations. I have to say that from start to end staff were exceptional. The only negative sadly was the food quality, the Thai was highly recommended and was really poor in quality and taste, this was however dealt with with the utmost professionalism by management so not a complaint rather constructive feedback to hopefully make dishes more authentic Thai and of quality befitting the price. I also found the breakfast overpriced and poor quality and so would avoid in all honesty. Rooms certainly are quirky with open plan bedroom/bathroom, certainly not for everyone so be aware, I am unaware if all rooms are built like that do worth an ask before booking if you like st little privacy at times.
