We've rarely felt less welcome. Desk staff were surly and seemed to resent our intrusion into their day by, you know, checking in. The breakfast staff next morning were also surly, though the woman serving in the Café in the evening was cheery and pleasant. The advertised EV charging is a myth. There's one granny lead socket (for 3kW) and one slow charger (7kW nominal) that wasn't working, and that's it. When we raised this we were directed to the nearby Tesco "which has fast chargers" (actual count: 0). The room was large but minimally equipped and soulless. They know they're the only hotel in the area and act as though that excuses them from making an effort. Which is a shame, because it's a stunning setting.

Excellent few days stay at the Heights Hotel. We experienced a couple of minor “problems” We were told the Bar served bar meals we were not told that because the hotel had a coach party in we would not be able to order our dinner until the coach party were all served and it would be up to an hour and a half before we could hope to be served. Our other “problem” was that the toilet in our room did not flush properly thus leaving loads of toilet paper in the pan. Not nice !! We could not fault the staff, they were friendly and very accommodating for every thing we requested. Unfortunately as the hotel is situated on one of the highest points in Portland the views were obscured by very low cloud every day we were there. We did several journeys away from the hotel and found much better weather and views. We also really liked the robot waiter in the Coffee shop, a really novel idea.

Fantastic location & great views of Chesil! Good local transport. The breakfast buffet was lovely & well maintained. The room as clean & the bed was comfortable. I only interacted with two staff members. Both were OK but didn't smile, which seems odd in customer service roles. The hotel could be amazing but really needs a refurb. The room I stayed in smelt of damp / mould, which I could still smell on my clothes I had worn in the room. No plug sockets near the bed, which was unusual for the a hotel.

The biggest asset of this hotel is its location & superb service (5 star). The rest is a compromise to pay higher rate for your stay.
