Creag Mhor Lodge

OH. MY. GOODNESS! What a gem. Perhaps the most favorite of our stays during a three-week long trip through Scotland celebrating our anniversary. The lodge is way from the hustle and bustle of Fort William almost to Ballachullish. But very short drive for seeing the sites in Fort William. The lodge is charming and the staff is wonderful. Very welcoming. The view of the loch from the lodge is spectacular. The large conformable common area housing the very well-stocked whisky bar is the best place to end your day. Staff is extremely knowledgable about whisky. Rooms were clean and super cozy and comfy. Breakfast in the dining room was delicious and always a great way to start the day. Staff offered up great and varied referrals for local places to eat and things to do. We will have very fond memories of this place and the people we met. Highly recommend.

Beautiful property in an amazing area. Room was spacious with a gorgeous view of the loch. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lounge is very comfortable and inviting. Staff were remarkably knowledgeable and helpful picking out whiskeys to try.

Wonderful property, we had a deluxe room with lake view. The bed was large king. Everything was great. Close to Glencoe. Restaurant offers very limited options, but everything else is five stars.

The experience and service offering did not offer value for the price charged. This is an old building and is well kept but it needs modernising. Bathroom had no shower and we had to step into a very high bath to shower, there is whole safety issue here and no handles on the wall to help climb in and out. The hot water in the shower was scalding and we could never regulate the temperature or water pressure. For the price we have expected a bottle of drinking water in the room but this was not offered. Breakfast was at best, mediocre and disappointing. We had to decide the night before what we wanted, the choice of hot food was poor and there was no facilitating any request for simple change, I requested poached egg and told its only what's on the menu, so it's scrambled egg or nothing. Clearly the breakfast is made sometime before you sit at the table, as I had only sat down to eat my cereal and out came the hot food, you feel rushed. The bar has a great selection of whiskeys and the staff do walk you through the different brands. Evening menu is very limited and kitchen closes at 8pm. Staff where very polite and friendly and the view from our bedroom was magnificent. Overall I came away disappointed as I had higher expectations based on the ratings and price charged. I would stay again if they improved the level of service or reduced the price. It's not good value for money as we stayed in other hotels on our holiday which were substantially cheaper with quality service.

Beautiful property outside Fort William. Lovely lounge with bar (and bar menu if one didn't feel like going out for dinner). Our room was clean (the heating system was a bit challenging). Breakfast was excellent, with many choices. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We'd happily stay there again.

Very healthy breakfast choices. Adequate parking. Comfy and relaxing lounge/bar, pleasant and informative staff, Lorna was very welcoming, great live music musician. Loved the sea view!

Friendly welcoming staff, gorgeous views. The Inn was beautifully restored. Our room was well appointed, comfortable and very roomy. We had a lovely home cooked dinnner and the bar was a delightful addition.

Creag Mhor is an outstanding guest house. Incredible building, staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, quiet, clean, well-appointed. The downstairs bar which offers relaxed dining options was brilliant, great vibe. Home-cooked food was great and saved us having to drive anywhere after a long day exploring. It’s about 20 minutes to Fort William for food so staying in was good! Parking on site was easy. Highly recommend.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Everywhere spotlessly clean. Main lounge /bar fantasticly comfortable and welcoming. Lovely old building with many original features preserved. Magnificent views of the loch and great location - on the main road but very quiet when we were thre (Oct). Just felt slightly "rule bound" which took the edge off full relaxation.

The place is great. Personnel is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The bar is good. Very clean and well located. The room was a bit smaller and lack a closet.

If you've ever wondered what it’s like to time travel to the 1800s without the fun part, this hotel has got you covered! We were greeted by a lady at the front desk who was all smiles… until we mentioned a problem. The bar promised cold beer and cozy vibes. What it delivered was beer that tasted suspiciously like it had been filtered through a cow. Not ideal unless you're a fan of bovine beverages. Breakfast was served with the soundtrack of what I can only assume was an experimental bagpipe -panflute -orchestra fusion album on repeat. The shower? Oh, the shower. It had two settings: hot or hotter. The water pressure soft, which we could forgive given the age of the building. When we brought up the scalding shower issue, we were told no one had ever complained before. Either previous guests had asbestos skin or they didn’t survive to tell the tale. All in all, if you like living history, lukewarm hospitality, and the thrilling danger of spontaneous combustion in the shower, this place might be for you.

Absolutely lovely bed and breakfast! Kind and helpful staff, beautiful scenery, crisp and clean rooms in Victorian manor house. Front desk staff was so welcoming and genial. LGBTQ friendly, no fuss made.

The hotel is very beautiful, intimate, clean and welcoming. Although the light went out in the Hijglands, they informed us and treated us kindly. That the hotel is small and with few rooms makes it very charming.

Also, the water pressure is awful--it's like taking a shower with a water fountain. They do have a notice in the bathoom that says something like "our building is old and we want to preserve that so the water pressure isn't very good". But they should put that on their website. Also, many of the rooms (including mine) are right next to a busy highway--difficult to sleep. And, while the check-in clerk was pleasant, the manager was very rude.

The staff here were very nice, warm and friendly. The building was lovely. Lovely view from our room. Our room was nice but seemed damp, towels did not dry during the day and the mattress was a little firmer than I like. We found the rules to be a little restrictive, doors locked between 1 and 4 and after 10. Dinner was nice but the prices of the food and drinks was high. Breakfast was good!

Creag Mhor Lodge has exceeded our expectations! Our room was spacious, clean and had an amazing view of the lake and hills. The staff were warm and welcoming and their common area was cozy and was an excellent place to have a pint and sit by the fire after a long day hiking the hills. Breakfast was delicious and filling, I recommend the - Full Scottish!

Beautiful setting, Scottish feel to the rooms and bar. The staff was really nice. The unusually warm weather made the sleeping unbearable. We purchased a fan the following day which helped.

The staff was friendly, super accommodating and helpful! Lucy was a great bartender. The meals were delicious and reasonably priced. The beds were so comfortable and the room clean with beautiful decor. I would highly recommend. And will visit again!

Our experience at Creag Mhor Lodge was the best experience we had during a five-stop, two week trip to Scotland and Ireland. The view from room 10, much the same as the view from the lounge, was amazing. We wish we could have stayed longer. The best part of our experience was how we were treated. The owners are present and involved and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. We particularly appreciated Lorna, as she welcomed us and treated us with kindness and warmth the entire time.

We can't recommend Creag Mhor Lodge enough. Great location overlooking the Loch, comfortable rooms, and lots of character. Had a wonderful dinner in a cozy setting with other visitors and Clare gave us a much needed lesson on the many varieties of Scotch whiskeys. On top of it all, I left my Kindle on a table in our room and they kindly shipped it to my hotel in Edinburgh to pick up on our last day. Thanks again!!!

It’s a beautiful place to stay. We had a lovely room, the view was excellent. The bed was super comfy and the linens were beautiful. The tub was great. My only advice would be make sure you have a car. There is nothing around, and it’s a 25-30 pound taxi into Fort William. We took a bus but it was a 20 minute walk and runs on the hour. The hotel has a small menu and the food was nice. They have a nice lounge and bar.

Our stay at the Creag Mhor Lodge was excellent. The location is fantastic being close to the Three Sisters hiking point and Fort William. The staff were incredibly helpful and breakfast was great both mornings. We ate dinner one night and it was also great. The view from the main room area was incredible both nights with the whiskey bar in the building. The rooms were comfortable with plenty of space. Everything was very clean and nicely updated.

Enjoyed our stay at Creag Mhor. Great location, very close to Glencoe National Park. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Nice old house that has been tastefully converted to a bed and breakfast on the water...best part of the stay was the supper in the lounge area that is casual and relaxed, and the food was great (curry chicken)! Service was like family...really comfortable feeling...!

We absolutely loved our stay here. From the warm welcome at the desk when we arrived, to the cozy atmosphere in the bar. Having dining options at the bar so that we could just stay put and not have to head out to eat was brilliant. The food and drink was lovely! Our room was amazing, large, with a fantastic view out over the Loch. We would absolutely love to make a return to this area of Scotland and stay a few more nights with the lovely people at the lodge!
