The George Inn

We wanted a pet friendly hotel and boy, did we get it. Every member of staff treated our little pup like royalty. In the room there was a comfortable bed for her with a towel and 2 blankets along with some bowls but the piece de resistance was a the little bag containing poop bags, treats and a ball. We had a very satisfied little dog in the room but when she saw the outside greenery she was absolutely thrilled as were we. Unlike a lot of hotels where they claim to be dog friendly but then have a load of no go areas, this hotel really was. We arrived before booking in time so had the flat iron steak and frites for lunch followed by the Sticky Toffee Pudding and Banana waffle. All was beautifully cooked and the waitress was extremely careful to ensure that the way I was asking for my steak to be cooked as she was worried it would be compromised. We found the room to be comfortable and loved the Dyson fan. There was plenty of tea, coffee, fresh milk(!) and a little fridge. We had the breakfast in the morning. 10 out of 10 for the fresh fruit, a decent range of cereals and various other items on the Continental range. My husband had the Classic English Breakfast which he thoroughly enjoyed with its 2 sausage, 2 bacon, beans, tomato, poached egg, black pudding and toast whilst I had a very generous portion of smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on toast. If there was any criticism, it would be the toast was thin and dry. Everything else was great.

Very warm, welcoming Inn. Comfortable room and very clean. Also good value. Free parking a bonus too.

Spacious twin room with good amenities.. Comfy beds , fluffy towels, bathroom toiletries, tea & coffee , homemade shortbread a nice touch. Tv and radio good . Goood breakfast choice. Friendly staff. Comfy pub and restaurant. Only poor thing was bathroom radiator and skirting under it needed a good dusting.

Perfect place for a break.Spacious rooms, very well equipped as well. Check in was quick and simple with a caring friendly attitude. Very dog friendly too. The staff here always have a smile on their face and interact with guests. Definitely recommend.

Great location for overnight stay following trip to Longleat for the Festival of Lights, also very near Warminster. Checked in, but were unable to have dinner due to a powercut, but staff signposted us to various pubs available nearby in Warminster, and due to the inconvenience gave us free breakfast the next morning, which was fab. Room was great - clean, comfortable and all mod cons - plenty of wardrobe space, coffee maker, fan, clock radio and huge TV with full access and free Wi-Fi. Had a lovely stay - only downside, due to the location was the traffic noise, which would be hugely reduced if they had double-glazing. However we would definitely stay again - loads of parking, huge outside play area, doggy friendly and great food and friendly staff. Thanks for a great stay 😊

The restaurant/pub downstairs is dog friendly and they have their own dog menu. The staff were very approachable, friendly and helpful. Location is great for Longleat and Stonehenge both of which are close. We will return next year to visit longleat.

My partner & I stayed at the Hotel as it was within a convenient distance to Longleat. The property is very charming, breakfast was very good and also a lot of options. Our room did have a comfy bed and pillows however the location of the room (Room 12), the landing that leads to/ from all the other rooms and back to the Pub, was very noisy with a lot of creaky floor boards. The room also had a stench of sweaty feet upon arriving so we left the window open as well as the room door to try and clear out the smell (it did subside a bit however we then had an air purifier which was running constantly after that). The carpet had not been vacuumed, there were nail clippings and other debris on the carpet, the room had a lot of cobwebs in the corners, enough to see they have been there a while. The food in the restaurant was also not particularly great, for me and my partner. Unfortunately both dishes lacked flavour (1 Beer Battered Cod & Chips, 1 Butter Chicken Burger).

The place looked nice and was lovely but was very noisey if you wanted to get any sleep and when we arrived the bed sheets had either feces or blood on them.

We got so much for the price we paid .. for less than a premier inn we had a delightful room which was clean and comfortable and quiet. We had a great nights sleep. Friendly service and a brilliant stop before / after visiting Longleat ( Aqua Sana but could also be a good stop for Center Parcs or the Safari Park)

Our stay was lovely the room was nice and warm and the beds very comfy. There is a smart tv on a wall bracket which is a bonus, also included in the room is a large Dyson fan which we didn’t need to use but was a nice addition. We stayed for 3 nights and everyday the room was refreshed and fresh water bottles left by the nightstands and a top up of teas and coffees. The bathroom was nice and modern and the water was always hot in the shower, it could’ve maybe done with a few more essentials - possibly a toothbrush holder/ a small hand towel holder as trying to dry ur towels on a small heated towel rail was a little challenging. The water in the taps comes out freezing at first and takes a good few minutes of running before any warm water comes out - maybe a pump could be installed as the building is quite large. The only thing which was a little annoying was outside of our room in the corridor was a large door to access the rooms and it doesn’t have a soft close - it bangs very loudly whenever anyone goes through it which isnt great late at night or putting our little girl to bed. We didn’t book breakfast with our room but they were very accommodating and was able to have breakfast on 2 of the mornings, lovely food with a good range of cereals/ breads/ pastries etc - pancakes and bacon were a particular favourite! Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends and family, the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

The room was excellent spotlessly clean but there was no hot water When queried with reception was told a blip in the boiler!!! Said immersion heater would be switched on but this didn’t happen I trust we will have refund as our sole purpose of staying the night was to use the shower

Mel welcomed me and was very helpful throughout my stay and the other staff memnbers were lovely. I had a large room on the front corner of the property (room 7). Extremely comfortable bed and all the amenities losted when I booked. The property is next to a busy road so there is traffic noise. The bedroom had secondary double glazing which helped to reduced the noise but the bathroom didn't. I would go back to this hotel but probably ask for a different room; this is mainly because the TV was so far away. Could have done with a 2nd bedside lamp and another one on the desk. Remote control for the radio didnt work and I had no idea how to use the nice dyson fan. The luggage rack was on the top shelf of the wardrobe; I used the desk instead. Bathroom had the required amenities and nice toiletries. The fan was a bit noisy so I used the light on the vanity mirror. I didn't get on well with the shower; poor water pressure and hot water took ages to come through. I mentioned this on departure. The food was very good and whilst not cheap the prices were comparable with another hotel that I stayed in. The atmosphere in public areas was friendly and welcoming. Dogs are made very welcome which I like Overall a good conveniently located hotel with good food.

I had a good night's sleep, although I did request 2 single beds for myself and my daughter, but arrived to a king size bed. I was concerned about the noise that the neighbours were making when they returned to their room, as they must have opened and closed their door around 10 times for some reason.

We stayed in the family room with bunk beds, the room was huge, curtains separated the bunk bed area from the main room. We will definitely book again next time we visit longleat safari park

Staff very welcoming and helpful. Food was very good. Bed very comfortable, Decor in need of a refurb and noise from floorboards in rooms and passageways annoying.

The inn location is convenient and is near a hidden lake. The lake is beautiful. The ambience is cheerful and warm. I loved the breakfast. The room is comfortable with modern tools like a great TV, Nespresso machine and even a Dyson fan. Room is great.

Room was small, fairly standard but had a clever bunk bed which separated the beds. Bathroom dated but still ok with good shampoos etc. Food was excellent Sunday roast, desserts a little on the expensive side.

Booked here for work Place was really nice nice beer attentive staff . Food was exellent Beer was good Room was really clean very comfortable beds Only issue was out of the 3 of that stayed we all found the shower to slippery. One of my staff cut his finger open Bath mat needed . Wifi and good tv channels I would stay here again and will book in the future

The George Inn’s staff are what make it. Unfortunately the road location is pretty noisy and the place itself is just a bit tired and run down, not at all how the pictures look when looking in the rooms. However, you just couldn’t be disappointed when the staff - whether behind the bar, waiting tables, cheffing or staffing breakfast simply couldn’t do enough for you. I’m sure we weren’t easy customers and the place was packed most of the 3 day, 2-night visit we were there - but they really are worth their weight in gold!

Our stay was satisfactory, considering it was in a heatwave, but the breakfast was not up to standard at all. Nothing was prepared properly or ready for people to come and help themselves and some things were not available which were on the menu, like fruit salad and the self service sideboard was not prepared properly. Altogether a disappointing experience and not what you expect from a hotel/pub type accommodation nowadays.

Pub and accommodation in a handy location. They messed up our booking which meant that one of us had to sleep on the floor. (with additional bedding) We had booked a twin room late in the evening after being let down. Just before we booked, we rang to confirm that we could book a twin. Unfortunately, the twin was already occupied and as we had paid, it was too ate to change. Food in the restaurant was fine and beer good. Staff are well trained and engaging. Overall a comfortable stay albeit expensive for the room that was noisy being on the roadside.

We really enjoyed our stay everyone was really helpful and made the stay special .minor complaint was there was with the heating we were compensated for it not working thinking about booking again next year with more family

We had been told this was the place to stay, however on arrival we were quickly met with a sign saying no food due to maintenance, this was however for visiting guests, not people staying. however the time window for guests staying to eat was swift. Got the impression staff were minimal and also not trained correctly. During our meal my daughter was still eating her starter yet they wanted to bring mains out? Food was actually very good in deed, just a shame that the service let it down. When we ordered some after drinks at the bar it was clear the staff were not trained on how to make cocktails that they were selling. I returned my wife’s cocktail as it was not nice, after a little hassle they did change it for a Prosecco but this in my eyes should be simple swap and not questioned, she had taken a sip. The room was ok, the pictures when booking a family room showed a double and a bunk bed, on arrival it was a double with a small sofa bed in the corner of the room where access was fairly limited, the TV over hung the bed and where the room was not level it swung out which is a bit dangerous. I had to chase house keeping as when we first got to the room there was only a 1/4 of toilet roll on the wall. Rooms looked rather tired and in need of a freshen up. I think these elements on this occasion is why we have not rated this venue the best.

For an Inn, the George Inn has blown my mind away from having that welcoming customer services to the comfortable, peaceful, luxurious stay overnight. I wished that I booked for a few days as the location was convenient to all attractions in the area. To top up off, the price is just attractive for a last-minute booking.

Rustic feeling room that could use some attention. No cell service on site. Nice surroundings with ammenaties close.

Lovely little place to stay near longleat zoo , will advise to stay at the side of the pub as they have a garage on other side of the road , very bright lights and they come through the blinds. otherwise all good breakfast was good

This was my third visit to the George , it is so convenient to sleep here after a relaxing spa session at the Aqua Sana in Longleat. This time I booked the four poster bed and it was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Will be back.

Everything was great, staff amazing and food was top notch. The home made cow slaw was very tasty. Will be staying again

Nice dining area for breakfast and evening meals. Good variety of options for breakfast and a varied evening meal menu. Beds are nice and comfortable. Good tea and coffee facilities in room. If I had have known it was so pet friendly I may have brought my pet. Convenience store with ATM on other side of street for any other items. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant, courteous and helpful. I would stay again when I return to the area as I likely will.
