Seamill Hydro Hotel

Food in the Orangery restaurant was great quality. Room was clean and comfortable but could maybe be doing with a little bit of renovation. Continental breakfast was of a good standard, cooked breakfast was varied with some items a little overcooked. Health suite facilities were of a good standard. Sauna and Steam room were of a decent size approx 8 people at a time in each. Changing rooms were a little tight if many people were in. Staff were pleasant, helpful and really great.

A beautiful retreat by the beach, really relaxing stay with great gym and pool.

Our night at the Seamill Hydro was absolutely lovely. Stayed in a deluxe Seaview room and the views were stunning despite the weather. Loved enjoying a quiet drink in our room while doing some seal-spotting. The meal in The Orangery was a really highlight and the staff could not have been more attentive. Food was delicious! The only thing have to mark down for is the pool/leisure facilities. The pool is cold and the "jacuzzi" part is no warmer so you are basically just sitting in bubbly jets of cold water! Not ideal and a real shame as the rest of the hotel is perfect. I would definitely revisit if they turn the temperature up in the pool. Lovely hotel

Really enjoyed our visit, only thing would be if the changing area/ room at the pool was bigger, quite tight when it was busy.

Absolutely amazing venue for a Wedding. The views of Arran is spectacular. Quilt bedding could be upgraded. Disappointed that we didn’t get our spa booking. However, we enjoyed a relaxing swim in the pool.

Clean rooms helpful friendly staff. Fabulous food and plenty of choice. Excellent breakfast. Excellent fully equipped gym with sea views. I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic experience at a bargain price booked through Expedia. Had this been Channel 4's 4 in a Bed, we would have overpaid! The room alone was excellent but then you add in the dining experience (we enjoyed breakfast and evening meal), the location, the onsite facilities including sauna, steam room, swimming pool, fitness suite with weights and cardiovascular equipment, all overlooking the beach, sea and mountains beyond. All facilties included in the room price, spa treatments extra. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful hotel and great setting with views towards Arran. We stayed in a courtyard room with sea view which is well worth the additional cost. We ate in the aura bar which was ok. The breakfast wasnt the best. I've had better in other hotels. The swimming pool was nice but the sauna and steam room were very small considering. A heated jacuzzi wouldbe a nice touch. The gym however was excellent and well stocked. Worth a visit.

The bed was fairly old and lumpy. Also not the cleanest room- visible dust along all skirtings. Hotel itself is nice and the staff were lovely. Food in the bar is okay.

The room was very dirty, lots of dust, cobwebs and a toenail in the bed

Stayed recently for a couples weekend away, and were extremely disappointed in the tired, run down, and generally dirty condition of many parts of the hotel. The room we were in (130) was a particular disappointment. In hindsight, we wish we had asked to be moved. Of particular note were: Quilt that all of the filling had bunched up in small areas, looked like somebody was still in the bed. Bed throw that had horrid looking stains on it. The blind in the bedroom had what looked like several blobs of used chewing gum stuck to it, and also the wall nearby The mirror was missing from the dressing table, and the wall had lots of holes left where it used to be. Even a standalone mirror would have helped. The bathroom/toilet didn't feel clean at all. The toilet itself had a dubious stain on the outside, and the walls and blinds were also dirty. The hairdryer sounded as if it was going to explode, we had to ask for a replacement as it didn't seem safe to use and the PAT label couldn't be read. To be fair, there were some positives. The pool was lovely, and the changing areas seemed to be of a decent standard. Food in both of the restaurants was good, but again, the actual restaurants felt tired and grubby. When you walk into the more relaxed Aura Lounge bar, the first thing that struck us was the state of the worn and ripped vinyl seating. The staff were also pleasant and helpful when any help or assistance was asked for. On checkout, we weren't asked how our stay had been.

Needs updating Carpet badly stained Couch had huge stain on it so didn.t want to sit on it. Hall had terrible smell. Food was ok though and leisure facilities good

We stayed for two nights and paid extra for an upgrade, but we were disappointed as on the first night, the sheets and bedding were stained. We we had to phone down to get some clean ones. These were brought up by the bar staff. Had to make the bed ourselves as no other staff were available. Breakfast was good.

Scottish Breakfast is probably the worst I have had, cheap sausage, fat soaked black pudding & a thimble of beans, no haggis!, spoke a few people after & all agreed. The waiting staff were very pleasant, room was clean but very dated for the £250 a night charge. Wouldn’t recommend or go back

Nice hotel. One of the best in area. My room was nice and comfortable and clean. Could do with some fine attention to grout in shower area needs cleaning and mould removed. Bath panel looks a bit discoloured and scuffed the bathroom door has flaked paint and should be replaced . Overall good just those points needed attention to bring it up again to excellent.

Room and areas in hotel were spotless. Room bed and bedding were fresh and comfy. Food was lovely. Service was great

The room that we had wasin the annex next to the hotel, the view was amazing.

Room was very clean and tidy. Wasn't what you would csll a superior double. Downside was noise from men wirking on roof right outside our window. Unable to open curtains. Very good breakfast.

The bed was a bit small, not king size as stated. Room very warm but when opening the window the noise from nearby Aircon was terrible. No view other than the hotel roof. Very disappointed.

Billed as superior double but too small to accommodate a comfortable chair only one chair at desk. Little natural daylight due to small window (overlooking car park) with mirror in front of it. Not able to open window due to furniture in front of it so too hot during the night. Comfortable bed, clean linen although mark on bed throw and chair. Bathroom very good but decor in bedroom is tired with marks on walls and skirting. Ill-fitting drawers and unit doors. Window frame in poor condition. Breakfast was ok although 2 items missing from order (rectified)

It would all have been excellent except our room window was tiny and looking out on a roof and the noise of a boiler or engine outside made it difficult to sleep.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. However, very noisy floor boards in our room were really quite annoying. The sound insulation between adjacent rooms could be improved. The breakfast was generally fine, although a couple of items were over cooked & inedible. Service for dinner was very slow.

We had booked an overnight for my wife’s 40th birthday and we were generally disappointed with the experience. On check-in we were put into the wrong room from the one booked. We had booked an executive double room with King Bed and Double Sofa Bed for myself, my wife and 6 year old, the room we were given had a double bed and a cot for a baby. We then came back to reception and were told this is what they had on the system and thought we might struggle with the cot, not sure why they let us go. I tried to explain the room we had booked but there seemed to be little interest. We were moved to a more suitable room to the building adjacent to the main hotel and told someone would come and make the sofa bed. The new room was not as nice as those in the main hotel but at least had adequate beds. We went for a swim and came back to find the sofa bed had been made but there was no sheet so had to phone reception to send someone back. We ordered room service however on arrival the order for our son was wrong so we called back straight away and asked for the correct order to be sent asap, unfortunately we had to wait a while for this which was not ideal given how late it was for a 6 year old. The noise from the adjacent room was very clear and the noise of screaming and running children after 10 didn’t help. Lunch on the day of arrival was good as we had booked for 15 people and although service was slow the staff had advised in advance that they were short staffed but good

Hotel nice but definitely in need of a refurb, when we arrived we were too early to check in so went for a drink we stood at the bar for 10 minutes before the waiter even acknowledged us which was off putting from the start and the service didn’t get any better! Evening meal the waitress gave us the menu and 30 minutes later I had to go up to the bar to ask for a drink, our food was quick at arriving but when we had finished our sweets they never came back to clear the table or ask if we wanted anything else….could have seen the point if they were busy but they weren’t!

Not enough staff and very young lacking experience, long waits at bar, girl was working hard but no support. Things getting mixed up in restaurant not only at our table and also at breakfast.

Move our with no notification Returned pm after day out on 2nd day to find someone else in our room..!! They had gathered our personal belongings and toiletries & moved us to the room next door room No real reason given

Very friendly staff

A woeful experience. Staff woefully underprepared for events like someone getting stuck in a lift. 6 different staff members all clueless about what to do and in zero rush to solve the issue despite a mother and her 6 month old baby being stuck. “Nothing we can do about it” before a manager eventually came along with a key to reset the life. If there’s lifts on the property, staff should be briefed on what to do. Embarrassing. Aura Bar staff incredibly slow and unprofessional. Took half an hour to be given our menus. 45 minutes before drinks arrived (Wasn’t overly busy). We had placed a cake behind reception as we were celebrating our mum and dad’s golden wedding anniversary. However, the staff clearly broke the cake topper and decided to hide it by not including it when they brought the cake out (they also sang happy birthday when bringing it out…). After being asked where it was, the staff disappeared for 10 minutes, one then walked past us with the broken topper, refused to acknowledge us and then when we went to tell them that was it, we found the staff arguing with each other over who had to tell us with zero explanation as to what happened to the keepsake. Finally, the cot given for the baby was filthy and heavily stained. Bed sheets were also stained. Really disappointing given the money spent.

We stayed over a weekend (Sat-Sun Nights), the service in the bar for breakfast and Dinner was poor. Wait times to order and then for food to arrive was shocking, we waited one evening for a bar meal over 50-60 mins. The staff seemed to lack any direction and were constantly busy but not very effective. The hotel were hosting a wedding, so possibly this drained resources but that’s not a suitable excuse. On a plus note, the rooms are nice and comfortable.

We've stayed here before but as before we were not disappointed. Beautiful hotel in an idyllic setting. We had a sea view. We came here for our 21 years together anniversary.

Fantastic location on the beach, with a great view over to Arran. Great dinner in the Orangery restaurant and an excellent full Scottish breakfast. Room was very comfortable with an excellent shower. Great service throughout. We didn't use the spa facility, but the pool area looked really good.

The food and service in the main restaurant was appalling It took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine. I ordered fried Brie starter which was completely undercooked and cold. I sent it back. I then had the sirloin steak asked for medium and got rare . It was full of gristle and i did not eat it. I did complain to the manger who reduced my bill but it basically spoilt my evening.

It’s very hard to to say something negetive about Seamill Hydro , the location is good the sea view from our room was outstanding , the Staff are very good & helpful in all areas . The pool and Spa are very nice and a great way to relax . Choice of food & drinks is excellent and the quality of the food was outstanding . Only negative was the restaurant seemed unable to split the bill between two rooms , but this is minor

The hotel is great, staff and service all brilliant. Stunning views if you get a sea view room. The only thing which stopped me scoring 5 stars was the breakfast - had the full Scottish which was a bit disappointing.

This is a great hotel for a short or long stay. Fantastic location right next to the beach. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. Standard rooms are comfortable if not such a great outlook. Courtyard rooms have sea view which gives that added bonus. Super Spa and swimming pool. Buffet Breakfasts in the Aura bar were plentiful and staff were efficient and helpful. Unfortunately evening meals were a disappointment. The Orangery restaurant is a beautiful setting but the food is below average with service leaving a lot to be desired. Meal took forever to be served and was lukewarm. Pretty tasteless as well. Staff didn’t attend my table after serving so I got fed up waiting and left without another course or coffee. The Aura bar evening meal I had to send back because it was almost cold and again service was poor and slow. I ordered a coffee but after waiting 45 minutes gave up and left without it. I would stay at the hotel again but would definitely find somewhere else for evening meals.

Staff were great and food in the bar and restaurant were excellent

I loved the views from the terraces. Breakfast was excellent as was all food. Let down with not enough staff in the Orangery although the staff that was there worked tirelessly
