The staff and breakfast were great and the location was convenient. Room was a little shabby and the heater was pretty loud. Best part was the location, worst part was the tiny hot tub that was way too hot and the jets weren’t working.

We had a great stay. The location is perfect. It’s close to everything and there is a grocery store right across the street which was very convenient. The pool was awesome. It was the warmest hotel pool I’ve ever swam in. Continental breakfast was really good. They have a cold breakfast which includes a yogurt bar with two different yogurt options and lots a different toppings to choose from. They also had toast, bagels, muffins, cereal, coffee, tea, juice and more.

Very nice and clean room. Loved that the pool and hot tub is open till 1am. Very small hot tub. The sign says max occupancy is 6 but you’d be on others laps if you had 6 people in it. It’s literally 7’x4’. For that size of a hotel, they should put in a bigger hot tub. The breakfast was good. Great location.

Clean room & kitchen, staff was nice. Parking felt safe. Hot tub small but nice heat. Pool looked like an animal jumped in it...odd. Breakfast was ok. Up through the night with people going up and down stairs, Ive learned to ask for room not by stairs.

Very pleasant staff, pretty good sound insulation although I did hear someone snoring, and I liked the breakfast. The pool room was clean and the water was a good temp, although I didn’t use it. There was a monitor in the lobby I noticed that said the pool and hot tub are salt water, which I was not previously aware of. Overall, would go back for another stay.

Indoor pool & hot tub open til 1am, complimentary breakfast was great, service was excellent, & they even let me do late check-out at 12p for no extra cost. The Stratford Inn is themed around the Ashland Shakespeare Festival & the building itself is historical, so it isn't like...super fancy or "modern". It has character. They have a whole cafeteria where they serve breakfast in the morning with lots of tables, chairs, and windows as well as a cute little outdoor patio area for in the summer time with a BBQ grill for guests to use. I live locally, but when I need to get away, I prefer the Stratford. It has the best amenities & service for the best price.

Second time we have stayed at Stratford Inn. Clean and roomy, double queen. Decent breakfast. Pool a bit too chlorinated. Close to downtown... easy walk to theatres and restaurants. Attention's be staff.

The towels at this location are disgusting. They all smelled moldy. Like they were ten years old and had been left in the washing machine to rot several times. Will not be staying here again.

The hotel is a bit run down. When I opened the door to my room I was met with the smell of unwashed sheets. It smelled like sweaty people had slept in the room for a month and didn’t change the sheets. Oh well. It was only for one night so I popped across the street and bought air freshener. When I went to get into bed that night, there was a brown stain on the sheets. I switched to the other bed and a) the sheets were clean and b) the bed didn’t smell. They obviously hadn’t changed the sheets in the other bed. When I was in line to check out, the woman in front of me was telling them that the tub wasn’t draining. When I told the receptionist that my room smelled and was disgusting, she asked me if I was the one who changed rooms. She made a pretense of writing a note for housekeeping. Obviously, there is a theme here and it’s don’t stay at this hotel. She took $20 off my bill, but had trouble printing the receipt so she emailed it to me. Oh, she took $20 off the bill AFTER she added in an extra $20. I was at my next stop by the time I got the receipt. Still waiting to hear back. Only positive was the staff were friendly.

Breakfast and breakfast staff, pool saved the days. Front desk day staff were disappointing. Room 326 shower had been dyed with henna so it looked like a murder scene. My girls were afraid of it and wouldn’t use it even though it was just gross but not really blood. When I asked if it could be remedied I was told house keeping only uses natural citrus cleaners and it was not possible to clean and it had been this way for the last two years and when they remodel in future years they will take care of it! So the room was nice, location great but a shower that looks like helter skelter crime scene spoils it. Especially since as a property manager I have successfully remediated two homes baths with hair dye stains from henna. Owners should be embarrassed with house keeping, front desk and fix this issue. Within an hour they could have only positive reviews rather than exposing several families a week to a hemorrhaging shower.

This is a very clean, super friendly hotel on the souther edge of downtown. Parking is very convenient. The rooms are spacious, come with a fridge and microwave. And everything is easily walkable. I wouldn’t recommend the breakfast or coffee, but the price is great even during peak season. And they have a pool and jacuzzi! And if you forget anything, the staff will be happy to FedEx your belonging back to you. (At your expense, which is only reasonable.) We love this place and will definitely be back in the future.

The only downside was that I could not connect to wifi on my computer while on the property. I followed instructions for wifi, but once logged in, sites would time out and I couldn't get any work done without leaving the hotel.

Disappointed. Have stayed here before visiting our son in college. Great location is the best part. We stayed for 2 nights. Both nights the cable was out and front desk did not know if or when it would be fixed. Part of renting a room is that is has a working bed, bathroom, heat, TV, phone. The TV did not work and was told it wasn’t their fault?!? How could this be the customers fault. There was no proactive approach to help accommodate or give discount. I had to ask and was met with a modest $23 total credit for 2 nights. The fact there was no proactive approach is concerning. Will not return.

This was our first time staying here despite coming to Ashland for decades, and we don't feel like we have been missing out on much. The best feature here is the walking distance (in nice weather) to downtown. It was noisy in all ways: thin walls, street traffic, loud guests, etc. We would not stay here again. The staff was nice enough, but the "light breakfast" was hardly an amenity. It was pointless; we did it once and then went out elsewhere the next two mornings. The wi-fi service was fine, but our room so weirdly designed with poor light-switch locations and management, and the mattress was terrible: like an inflatable bed that had no body to it whatsoever. Disappointing, overall, with the only really good thing being the location.

The property was very clean, cozy and comfortable. The room was spacious, the dining area where they had the simple continental breakfast was very clean, comfortable and because we’re traveling for the holidays it was decorated well with a pretty Christmas tree and other decor. The real thing that stood out was the staff service. They were wonderful, kind and extremely welcoming. Overall great stay for a great price. Would highly consider visiting again in the future.

When I arrived for check-in I had called prior and was informed it was $20 per pet. I verified prior to booking due to online stating $35 and I was told $20 so I booked my room. Upon check in I was told by the manager that I was wrong and that was after showing them the call times and booking times. The manager then proceeded to tell me I was wrong very unkindly in front of other guests which should NEVER happen. Then once we got into our room we had broken socket covers, hair on the hairdryer, mold in the bathroom, dirty mirrors, broken alarm clock and what appeared to be blood on a piece of note port left. Very unhappy and disappointed to say the least.

Some of the friendliest staff I have ever met. Thank you for your hospitality. This includes the morning crew and the evening crew. You were all incredible. The hotel has a cool charm to it. Everything was super clean and the location is perfect. I highly recommend this place. The Stratford is a true gem.

Apparently the hotel staff can rent rooms and they do so to have a party. The room right next door was making noise all night long up until the morning. We complained at 5am ish and the front desk said sorry to hear that but did nothing. When confronted about it to the noise makers they said they didn’t know anyone was in the area and we should have told them to be quiet. It’s a flippin hotel. Not impressed that hotel lets hotel staff party all night. It’s too bad as the rest of the experience could have been decent. The room was good, parking etc. Will not stay again next time in Ashland

We love this property! The staff is so friendly and helpful. Everything is clean and up to date. The building has a very cool design with the breakfast room overlooking the pool. The breakfast was way better then most other hotels in my opinion. We love the fruit and nut bar to add to your oats or yogert. The attention to detail and care for the environment is evident.

This is a solid choice if you need to be in downtown Ashland. Well maintained, well staffed, clean pool for morning swims, and a decent little breakfast area. The Shakespeare theme was a nice touch, too, giving the hotel a nice sense of place. Safeway directly across the street was also convenient.

My wife and I love Ashland and like to take a few days each year to visit. The Stratford is perfect for walking downtown, to the park, shopping and restaurants. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. The lady in the breakfast room makes me think of family, she is so friendly and so ready to help. I love the fact that the pool and hot tub is open so late. If I could change one thing it would be a better breakfast. The only hot option is oatmeal.

Very convenient location within walking distance of local businesses, restaurants and theatre including the Shakespeare Festival. Right across the street from a Safeway.

First time I saw a grab/safety bar above tub. It was surprisingly helpful when I took a shower. I also liked that i could easily grab my towel to dry off while I was still in the tub to dry off so I did not get cold. Breakfast was better than I expected. There was a good selection of items to stir into your yogurt. They also had oatmeal, had boiled eggs and an assortment of breads for toast. If you wanted something fancier for breakfast, they provided a list of local restaurants. Overall, I was plesantly surprised and would consider staying her again.
