The Groes Inn

Checkin was fast and friendly. 2 EV charging points were available. Food - both dinner and breakfast- was excellent with attentive service staff. Bedroom & dining areas were lovely & clean (but corridor to our bedroom was cobwebby). Good bedlinen, towels & comfort items on the tea & coffee tray all added to a comfortable stay. We’d definitely go again.

Hotel is located in the quiet country site, only a short drive to Conwy. We have stayed only 1 night during our motorbike trip. Room was cosy (big enough) with big en-suite. Good quality finish with huge comfy bed. Very good food and service. Great back garden space for a coffe or a drink.Highly recommend this place.

Lovely place, spotlessly clean. Rooms spacious, quite and everything we needed. Bed was hard to me personally but bedding spotless and comfortable, everything great temperature wise and comfortable. Bathroom spotless, fluffy towels, temple spa toiletries and great water pressure. Wonderful food , great breakfast and staff really helpful and firendly. Would definitely stay here again. Ample parking and really well placed for local attractions (especially bodnant gardens and the water gardens).

All staff were very welcoming on arrival, my room was spotless and very comfy. Plenty of room and a beautiful view. I was here with my dog Coco and they made her very comfortable and fussed her lots. Reservation in the pub was easy and again at dinner the dog had a blanket and water bowl. All the staff were very friendly and made the stay a lot easier by being helpful with local knowledge. Myself and Coco will be back again soon.

Situated about 2 miles out of Conwy- the location is quiet with Mountain View’s. Plenty of safe parking. The staff are all extremely friendly and eager to please. We had breakfast and dinner and both were excellent. It seems to be very popular for meal bookings at weekends. I would recommend this as a great place stay.

What a lovely Inn, it was excellent service throughout and the friendly staff made it a very enjoyable stay. The rooms are spacious and clean with excellent ablutions. The food was delicious. especially at breakfast and evening dining. It has a lovely beer garden and grape vines hanging in the conservatory. Easy driving distance from Convy. Highly recommended for people wanting to centralise their stay in North Wales. We will definitely hope to stay at the Groes Inn again.

Large room and patio. The shower was actually hot unlike some hotel showers. The views from the back of the inn are great. Breakfast included - and you won’t go hungry. Very dog friendly too!

A lovely old inn currently having some renovation work done, and the outside being painted Hence 4 stars for part of my review. It is in a beautiful location with stunning views all around. The staff are friendly and the place is spotless. The breakfasts are excellent and there is a good menu for evening meal choices. We really enjoyed our stay .

Food service was slow. Not asked if we wanted a dessert or coffee. Had to chase staff for the bill. One of four downlighter in the bathroom remained off in spite of requests to replace it.Towel rail was rusty. Timber window in desperate need of cleaning and repainting. Bedroom mirror very dusty. Staff generally friendly, convenient location.

The worst housekeeping I’ve EVER known!! The room, whilst I imagine in its day was lovely, was extremely tired. Glass was blown in the patio doors. The toilet seat clunked, every time you stood up. We couldn’t get cold water, so we were brushing our teeth in luke warm water. When you ran the tap, with the plug open, the sink filled up with water - then made a forever glugging sound. Who has grotty shower curtains nowadays?! The shower head was fixed and couldn’t be moved. It was really powerful (which was great), but then flooded the bathroom floor. The towels were frayed. The quilt wasn’t wide enough for the bed - it just reached the edge. The lighting was terrible - I could hardly see to dry my hair, never mind about put make-up on. I couldn’t use the bathroom mirror as the fan was useless, so the mirror remained steamed up for ages. The terrace was full of weeds. They could make so much more of it. The table was old and didn’t just wobble, it literally tipped! We used wads of toilet paper under a leg, in an attempt to balance it out, to find the following day the table had been moved (we think by a decorator, as a roller covered in dark green gloss paint was hanging off the fence - AND WE HAVE A DOG!), then just left there. Nobody moved it back. There was a gap in the hedge. Our dog got through! The floor/carpet was old & grotty and not hoovered once. We had a dog. Nowhere felt clean! Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was wonderful. The rooms need gutting!

I had the best stay at the Groes Inn! Everyone was super friendly and made me feel so comfortable. The views from my room were incredible! Everywhere was so clean and smelt amazing! I cannot wait to return. Thank you to all the staff for making my trip so rememberable and relaxing.

Lovely comfortable hotel. Nice food, friendly staff. Our bathroom had some small issues but this didnt affect our stay. Some cracked tiles & skirting board needs some attention. Overall our stay was comfortable and enjoyably.

The bathroom was large (only issue water would get out of the shower area). comfortable beds- Wifi very poor-and need to clean the bugs around windows and doors. Breakfast was wonderful- lots of options.

had an executive room which was airy and had nice wallpaper and pictures. the large old chest of draws was ideal for our clothing. it had french doors opening onto a narrow balcony. There was no way to hold the doors back so only had them open when not windy. the view was lovely it also had an old wardrobe. the bathroom was large but had notice saying the bidet was not working. the paint in the ceiling was flaking off, i could not use the mirror was too high for me to use. the bath was large and long and there was plenty hot water. unfortunatly the plug leaked so the water slowly went down the drain. i had to put some plastic bag to stop it so i could read in the bath.The bed was very large. the decor was good. the breakfast was good. the set menu for dinner was nice but took 2 hours as service was slow. the staff were working very hard and were very professional and friendly.

Overpriced for what’s on offer. The rooms are pleasantly decorated The heating in the room we were occupying was undersized for the room and therefore the room was cold. The first night the toilet ran constantly as the ball valve was broken, we told the manager in the morning and to her credit she had a plumber out immediately to replace it, there was no money removed the bill despite asking for it, being kept awake most of the night, under heated room, no hot water surely warrants a refund! The windows are single glazed and window frames rotten so heat was flying out. The hot water lasted no longer than 30 seconds which during snowy conditions and winter weather wasn’t really ideal. The staff are very friendly albeit unable to deal with the hot water and heating issue. Situated in a beautiful area, the views are lovely but I think you could place yourself anywhere in the area and you’d be blessed with a beautiful view

Loved the balcony offering view over the surrounding countryside . Room immaculate and bed comfortable. Staff always friendly and helpful. Found too many ares given over to dogs , I have owned dogs myself however most definitely do not approve of them one areas serving food .

The views from our bedroom were amazing, we had a room at the back away from the road. The staff were very helpful and when I had to complain about my steak they sorted it. The rest of the food was well cooked, they did have a few choices on the menu not available, which wasn’t great. Our room was clean, the only real issue I had was the bathroom, it needed updating and there was mould on the ceiling. The shower was very powerful and lots of hot water.

Room was very dated. Bed was hard as a rock. No A/C in the room - it was very hot. Tried opening the window to get some air. Because there were no screens on the windows I only got bugs. The patio was protected by barb wire and the furniture was dirty. The area behind the patio was a giant dirt field - very scenic.

Loved room and friendly staff

The perfect location for exploring the area. Room was a little dated but very clean and had everything we needed, and this only added to the charm. The staff were friendly and helpful and we very much enjoyed the breakfast and food in the restaurant. Excellent value for money and I would definitely stay again if visiting north wales.

We had a lovely stay at The Groes Inn - their staff are amazing and made us feel very welcome. We had a very thoughtful card and bottle of bubbly in our room when we arrived as we were celebrating our anniversary. We ate breakfast & dinner in the hotel for both nights and the menu and meals were both brilliant. Best eggs we've ever had - it's a real art to serve perfectly poached eggs that are still hot! We brought our wee spaniel with us and he was fussed over and made to feel very welcome too. We'll be back in the spring again as we really do love this hotel!

Fantastic hotel in every respect. I have just returned from a three-night stay. My son was staying in a cottage just down the road and this was a perfect location for all of us. The hotel is lovely and the friendly service was second to none. Every single member of staff (reception, bar staff, restaurant staff, and the cleaners) was so helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was delicious- both the breakfasts and evening meals. Would definitely stay again.

The best nights escape we have had together.. its been open since 1573! Staff were amazing and breakfast was off the scale.. we booked this as it was close to a friends wedding. Didnt disappoint.. We dont live far away but will definitely be booking again soon. Only wish we booked an extra night.

Our stay was ok spoilt by some indifferent service in the restaurant. Long waits for food just didn’t seem to have enough staff. Booked for 3 nights over New Year on New Year’s Eve had a table in the corner of reception! Did not eat in hotel the following night

This was an ideal location for our 3 day stay in Wales as it was close to a main road route. Facalities were as you would expect, and the room was clean and comfortable. Some plug sockets had USB charging and there was free Wi-Fi. We only had breakfast here. This was very nice and tasty. Guests can customise the selection of food, no need to stick to the menu. The staff were very nice and polite. Overall a very nice stay.

Quiet location beautiful area

A beautiful inn, stunning setting. Room more than adequate but needed a little "TLC" - paintwork chipped in places, couple of cobwebs (soon removed), lighting very poor but possibly because of low-wattage light bulbs. Beds extremely comfortable, lovely bed-linen. Unfortunately, due to a sudden (very) cold snap in the weather, the room was quite cold and the radiator insufficient to warm the large room and sitting area. The staff quickly rectified this by providing a mobile heater. Good evening meal in the restaurant. Friendly and efficient staff. Great stay. Many thanks.

The hotel is located about a 5 minute drive from Conwy. It sits in the middle of the countryside which is green and pretty- looking out the windows you see rolling green countryside. The rooms are large and nicely decorated, the bed huge (possibly 2 kings pushed together). The bathroom had a walk in shower and was modern. The restaurant food was excellent - more like a gastro pub. It was reasonably priced, good portions without being huge and really tasty. Astonishingly good food! The staff were friendly and efficient. Overall this hotel was a gem and I would have no hesitation recommending it. I

Beautiful property. Great location for getting about (you do need a car). Food and service was excellent. It was peaceful with lovely views. Would definitely stay here again.

Very friendly efficient staff. Room spacious with comfortable bed. Large en-suite with bath, good shower and plenty of hot water. Breakfast excellent. Evening meals well cooked, although menu a bit steak and burger heavy. Goan curry rather bland. Parts of the pub need a bit of paint and refurbishment but overall a very pleasant stay.

Fantastic stay! Staff are warm welcoming and cannot do enogh for you. Food is great. We will definitely be going back. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend.

Beautiful old pub with lovely accommodation. We had the family room, 2 adults & 2 kids. Great room, kids round the corner so everyone e has privacy! Lovely views out of their bedroom window. Dinner was delicious & staff very helpful & friendly. Unfortunately breakfast wasn’t as good. The waiter forgot our tea & a side order of bacon, was reminded & then forgot again (we never got them). My Hollandaise sauce was curdled then came back without sauce as it curdled again, & the soft boiled gags were hard! BUT, would come back as everything else was great.
