Horsley Lodge

We weren’t informed that the restaurant and bar were closed for refurbishment. The reception staff left after we checked in and we had to find a local pub for food. Once back at the hotel, no staff on site! Full rate was charged.

We really enjoyed our stay and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was great. The grounds and surrounding area are beautiful (although grounds are a golf course and you cant walk around unless playing). We drove to nearby pubs and restaurants for dinner and there are lots of nice options. Our cottage was full of charachter and although rustic it was clean. Would recommend as a base for exploring nearby villages.

Lovely location with ample parking and piece and quiet. Reception not manned when we got there which took a while to resolve. A bell would be good. Room lovely though wifi did not extend too well to very end of bedroom. But everything else was fine. Breakfast excellent

Stay was good. Lovely setting. Quirky room we liked. Barn cottage does have a spiral staircase which could be an issue for those with poor mobility. Food was lovely in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

It’s the location that really makes this hotel. The grounds and locality are fantastic, the beautiful countryside and the well manicured golf course made for excellent views which in turn were very relaxing. The members terrace was lovely and made the perfect place to eat dinner from a very varied menu. My husband is a coeliac and they easily accommodated his food preferences. The kitchen also rustled up some granola, yoghurt and berries for my breakfast the next morning, which wasn’t on the menu and it www lovely. From the reception staff to the kitchen staff, nothing seemed too much trouble. When it came to an awkward situation where our initial room had a very strong aroma of cigarette smoke, the lovely receptionist had no qualms in immediately changing rooms for us and she assigned a really beautiful room overlooking the stunning scenery which we were happy about. This room was definitely smoke free and the decor was very luxurious. She also provided a portable fan as the room was really hot due to the heatwave we were experiencing. The room was dual aspect so we were able to see more stunning views. Toiletries were provided alongside refreshments, an iron, ironing board and hairdryer. There were a few areas that had some wear and tear, but these were quite minor. The corridor leading up to our bedroom also had a smokey odour but as our time spent there was momentary, it didn’t particularly bother us. Overall, I would say this is a lovely hotel, at a great price.

Room was pleasant enough, nice and tidy. Had no electric on arrival but soon sorted that. Nice driving range and golf course on site. Service in the restaurant was really slow to say I was the only one in there. But the food was really nice.

Everything was lovely apart from a challenging shower and I know it was my fault for not asking but no lift to upper floors

I used to stay here a lot on business years ago. Stayed this weekend on a visit with my wife. Happy to say it has lost none of its charm. Lovely friendly hotel set in beautiful surroundings with a super golf course. Not expensive, really good breakfast. Loved it. Well done Horsley lodge!

This is a lovely place but what a shame I was not warned in advance that in the Winter the restaurant shuts at 4-00 pm, the bar at 6-00pm and to gain access after then you have to access a special code door!

The cottage is charming and great for a family with two kids, but it requires more maintenance and cleanliness. Particularly, the space at the top with the single beds was dusty, I found several flies and spiders. We had dinner with friends at the restaurant, and the food was good, and the service was efficient and kind.

I stayed at this hotel in August 2024. The check in process was very easy and I was given the key to the room called Tudor. The room was very clean and overlooked the 9th green of the golf course. Overall it was a great stay.

Great facilities and location, Shame about the evening meal. Could do with a thorough clean as lots of dust, cobwebs and spiders, the evening meal on Sunday was very poor real shame.

Had a lovely stay at Horsley lodge, rooms where spacious, comfy and clean; the staff where all friendly and attentive and food was great!

Clean but also a bit tired. Service good by attentive staff. Our room was a bit on the cool side even though the radiator was on max. Lovely views over the golf course from our room. Food and drinks excellent quality and a fair price.

Hotel was great although there were a few cobwebs in the room and bathroom . Room was ample size comfy bed and staff were amazing . Very friendly and helpful , grounds were beautiful and scenery . A wedding party was on both nights be this did not impact on our stay not noisy at all .

We booked the Lancaster Suite expecting a luxurious stay, but were extremely disappointed. The "suite" was actually a cramped loft room with a sofa and two tiny Velux windows, making it unbearably hot. Access involved climbing two steep staircases, and I needed help from bar staff just to get our suitcase up. The room had uneven floors, and the bathroom was small, claustrophobic, with dirty grout and a filthy vent that looked untouched for years. Dinner service was forgetful; we were halfway through our main course before the water we requested arrived. The bar toilet facilities were shockingly dirty, which was unacceptable. At breakfast, we were told by reception that it was included in our booking. We ordered from the standard menu, but what we received was incorrect—white toast instead of brown, and cottage cheese instead of cream cheese. We didn’t complain at the time. However, during checkout we were unexpectedly charged £14 for breakfast, being told only one drink and one item were included—something never mentioned by staff. Reception blamed the servers, despite my prior inquiry. I paid without a scene but skipped golf and left disappointed. The website speaks of a “haven of sophistication and comfort,” but based on our experience, the hotel should focus on improving existing standards before chasing lofty visions.

I needed a room for a couple of nights around Horsley Village. The Lodge is an excellant location and the rooms are adequate and clean. Wonderfull setting in the countryside

The hotel is in beautiful grounds with stunning views over the golf course and countryside. The staff are all very friendly, and the food was delicious. Our room was very spacious, with the only downside being it was dark, with a small window overlooking a roof. Such a shame not to have had a view

Generally not terrible but a few things stood out. No kind bed - 2x twins pushed together. No AC - room was boiling. Bath plug wouldn’t seal. No face clothes.

Place is actually really nice however when I got into my room the tv wasn’t working and the shower was barely warm in the morning Easy fixes but disappointed when paying £140

Ok on the whole, room quite dated but nice enough. Bed wasnt fantastic and the tv didn't work / have any signal. Quite alot of niose from the wedding, went on past 12am. Breakfast was really nice and a good portion of food (full english). Staff freindly, helpful and polite. Location was good, grounds really nice. Would stay again however not when there is a wedding on, would check in advance.

I was staying overnight on business. It was a very friendly hotel with everything I needed, including excellent wifi. The room was spacious and very comfortable and I had a great night, followed by a great breakfast. I ate that evening in the bar and that, too, was excellent. I will most definitely stay there again.

Our stay was excellent. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and eager to help us with anything we needed. I had an online class one evening that required me to be online for 4 hours. The staff were very understanding. They booked an area out for me to sit and order my dinner from, regularly checking I had everything I needed. We will definitely be back.

Staff well trained (a rare thing these days). Food excellent and reasonably priced. Only negative was WiFi not strong enough for in room smart tv. Would definitely stop again.

A very enjoyable one night stay. We had booked a junior suite but asked to swap rooms to a different type, with a golf view. The receptionist was happy to oblige and all was sorted swiftly. We were so pleased with our decision as the view down the eighteenth hole and across the surrounding countryside was fabulous. The delicious and plentiful breakfast was freshly prepared and made to order.

Have to say the staff who dealt with us front of house and I the restaurant, are pretty much the best I have ever experienced. Only downside of anything was kitchen side as waited over an hour for breakfast after ordering

View out over the golf course was very nice and created a calm relaxing atmosphere. Food was good quality and reasonably priced. Room was nothing spectacular but good enough

Fantastic staff who were all very accommodating especially with our newborn. No request was too much hassle. Breakfast was fantastic. And the Salt Suite was perfect with its own private parking making. Will definitely be staying again.

We booked this stay spontaneously Sunday morning and by 1pm Sunday we were being shown to our room. The hotel was clean and the views surrounding the hotel are lovely. The only issue we had was our long wait for food in the evening, but when we had nothing else to do but go to bed we didn’t mind too much. The breakfast in the morning which was included was one of the best we have had at a hotel. Made even better by being able to sit outside and take in the views.
