The room was very hot. No aircon or fan. I was unable to sleep for hours.

The staff were nice enough. The room wasn't anything to right about. Extractor in the bathroom was noisy and there were signs of mould. The TV was way too small the size of the room. The air conditioning didn't work. And it was hot. There was a fan in the wardrobe though. Parking is plentiful though

Room was clean and decent but TV reception was so bad I couldn’t watch the TV, there are no proper restaurants in the area to go to either only fast food outlets, the hotel says it has a bar, it doesn’t. It has a few chairs upstairs and it sells wine at Reception, you wouldn’t sit there. So absolutely nothing to do and the TV doesn’t work, I’ve seen other people complain about this and it’s not been fixed. It’s clean, but it’s a last resort hotel

I felt very vulnerable, anyone could walk into the hotel and corridors of rooms. There was no security system to lock the corridors eg you need to use your room card to access them.

I have stayed in my fair share of bad hotels in my time but this visit unfortunately has to rank as the worst hotel I've ever stayed at - bar none. If Basil Fawlty ever franchised a budget roadside inn, it would look suspiciously like the Days Inn by Stevenage North. What Hotels.com optimistically describes as a bar lounge turns out, in reality, to be a lonely fridge of bottled beer and a wheezing Stella Artois tap that spits foam into disposable plastic tumblers. Add a scattering of plastic chairs arranged with all the charm of a GP waiting room, and voilà – “the lounge.” Gastronomy, meanwhile, extends to a proud display of Haribo and Pot Noodles balanced mournfully on a shelf. Fine dining this is not. But the real pièce de résistance was the room. Mine stank of damp, the décor looked as though it had been carefully preserved from 1992, and, without asking, I was gifted a disabled-access shower and toilet setup. Quirky surprise aside, this would all have been forgiveable with a decent night’s sleep and a hot shower. Except – there was no hot water. Not in my room, not in anyone else’s from my group, meaning an entire floor of guests were left embarking on a cold, bracing rinse before work. Nothing makes you feel valued as a paying guest quite like being plunged into a budget reenactment of the Ice Bucket Challenge first thing in the morning. Avoid avoid avoid with all your strength. This is an embarrassment of an establishment!

Easy to find hotel and plenty of parking. Very basic room but the price was very good for what we had

Very welcoming friendly staff on Reception. Room ok, carpet had patches missing (not sure if it has wool in the carpet, if so maybe moths are the culprit?) Room appeared clean, shower head and the door to the shower not so clean, mould. Things do accumulate the older they are. Room smelled clean, could smell the cleaning products used. Bed was lovely and soft, ideal for me, so had an excellent night's sleep which is unusual for me in a hotel. Would I stay again, yes I would. Hotel is very good value for what I paid (£51) Breakfast is extra, which I didn't have, but would do if I stay here again in the future.

The room was dated but clean and functional and was just a place to sleep for the night, overall it was very good for the price. The eating facilities and car charging options on site were all excellent also.

this was not very clean. next to a higway and a petrol station. no food and not possible for breakfast

Average but very convenient. Could have been cleaner such as dirty cups, mouldy bathroom. Overall okay if you want a quick stopover.

Loads of rats can be seen out side room was dirty graffi on walls in room one towel for 2 of us room not been kept to high standards skirting boards are all wrapped of our window wouldn't shut not onlintjat the lock on the window is brown they put put a little latch up there and the room is cold as still cold getting threw not worth the money we paid!! Disappointed

The rooms could do with a good clean or a lick of paint to cover the stains on the walls. The showers definitely need upgrading as it is just a dribble of Luke warm water. The beds and towels were clean 👍 Booking said it included breakfast but nowhere to eat so not sure what should have been breakfast.

Has always been ok but this time chewing gum on walls, mould in shower, broken floor tiles in bathroom, coffee up walls near bed wouldn’t want to pay £83 a night again

Nice hotel for a mini stay. It could do with being cleaned regular in the corridors and up the stairs. Rooms were spotless and very clean though.

Convenient location, friendly staff & clean room & facilities, generally good value for the price However room for improvements. The one thing I found odd & bit annoying is the hand basin being seperate from the toilet and is not enclosed. So if sharing a room with a partner or friend, you're guaranteed to be woken up if they get up in night to use toilet. Also the mattress in my room wasn't in the best of condition, I kept feeling like was going to roll out of bed where it has lost its support along sides of the mattress.

Good spacious room, clean and comfortable, bathroom could do with a little bit of work. Doors to other rooms can be heard closing and you can hear guests in the room above walking about.

Hotel is ideally sited to clear London in the evening before travelling North the following day. Hotel is generally clean but some mould on edges of windows which were also very awkward to open. Room was excessively hot (26 C) when we checked in, they could easily save on energy costs.

Very basic. Clean. Comfortable bed. Disturbed between 2300 and 0200 by lots of talking, noise at reception and in the corridor. Main gripe... NO USB charging sockets so couldn't charge our phones.

Check in was great. Receptionist on duty was really helpful. TV reception in the room was poor, had to turn to using my phone which I didn’t plan to do. I love the proximity to different food options at the service station as they don’t have a restaurant. Not too great was the cleanliness in the shower, hair strands here and there. Overall, I think it is worth being a place to just pass the night if you are on the move or if you have come to work for a day or two in the neighbourhood.

Disgusted with the service from this hotel wrong date booked over a months notice and they wouldn’t amend or cancel when turned up wrong date the receptionist was rude and the guests I saw staggering about drunk

Good afternoon, On 5th of July 2025 we stayed at your hotel for 1 night in room 102. As we mentioned to your receptionist at the time, the accommodation was unsatisfactory in the following ways: There were lots of kids running on the hallway,slamming their doors every few seconds. In the room above us kids were jumping on the floor making a lots of noise.This has been reported by the receptionist to the leader of the kids group but didn’t solved the issue about the noise. Outside our room a huge fan was placed which make a noise though the night. All of the reasons make us impossible fo fall asleep. When we asked a few time to be moved to another room, we were told that this was not possible because the hotel was fully booked. Over all our stay at your hotel was very uncomfortable and we will never come back! Kind regards, Partyk Angielski

Front desk was awesome

The person on reception when I arrived was surly, unhelpful and more interested in doing something else. That was the only contact I had with staff.

The hotel is not so new, it is quite old and would need some sort of refurbishment. It lacks an on-site restaurant or even conference facilities. The heating in my room was not working, I complained twice to reception and was ignored. She asked me to leave the heating on and eventually it will start working. I stayed in the room for 72 hours and there was no heating. Day reception would need some training, she asked for me to control my kids because there were making noise at night. She told me and I said I would have try to get them to keep down. She blurted in my face “don’t try just do it”. I felt very uncomfortable and said very few words to her after that incident. It is fair to say, I will not be going back ever again.

Smart and ideal location

The hotel is in a good location, is easy to find and is next some very good services, good for a business trip. The hotel lobby was very good with good range of items for sale.

Easily accessible from the A1 and close to the town of Baldock.

Room was clean, bed comfortable and the staff were pleasant welcoming and helpful. Very convenient near the Motorway Services which provide a variety of eateries and services. Would recommend.

Boxed breakfast was a poor and a pointless options. Many breakfasting opportunities were available on the doorstep..

The room was a good size, bathroom needed refurbishment. Not happy with breakfast, would never have ordered it! We were not informes by Hotels.com that it was a box of food you had to collect from reception!

Overall it was a comfortable stay, only one thing i thought was below par, Breakfast, I paid an additional £7.00 ×2 £14.00 in which I was expecting a proper breakfast in a dining room as described to me when booking, unfortunately what I got when I went to reception to ask where the breakfast room was i was told "oh no, we don't do a breakfast but as you paid for breakfast we have a box !!! I took the hox but was extremely disappointed as not muvh was in the box, no bead or butter or roll, and what was in the box was cornflakes, pan o chocolate, which was stale and uht milk which was one day away from going off, it was on the turn. So basically I spent £14.00 extra for a load of rubbish whichni left. I will be requesting refund for the of £14.00 for the breakfast which I Didn't have because it was disgusting.

I booked a non smoking room but someone had very clearly smoked in the room recently. Reception were very good and moved me straight away, but into an accessible room, which was fine. I had booked breakfast and at the time of booking had asked for a vegan option but when I arrived, it was a breakfast bag with only dairy options. I cancelled and managed to get a refund.

Very poor, was charged £13 for breakfast and was presented with a box of bits. To top this they were selling the same thing on reception for £5.95
