Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Hoover/Birmingham

Needs to be updated. Rooms are old, looking and dirty looking ones. Not very happy with my stay would not stay there again.

This was without a doubt the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had! My son was asked last minute to play in a baseball tournament in Hoover, and hotels were slim Pickens this weekend so we ended up at Microtel and it was a nightmare. The room was TINY, there were several bugs crawling on the wall when we got in there, one of the beds had black stuff all over the sheets (we asked for a new one, that one was dirty too), and the worst part was there was a crack in the bathtub so when my son took a shower water was covering the floor, seeping out into the room and into the hallway. The wood around the bathroom door was rotting so it had apparently been a issue for a while. Thankfully there was a cancellation and the nice guy at the front moved us to that room. The breakfast was horrible, it was from a box frozen breakfast items like eggo waffles and mini biscuits, prepackaged hostess cupcakes 😒, muffins and cereal. No hot food like eggs or bacon. The walls are paper thin, I could hear the people in the next room talking loud and clear. The whole hotel had a funky smell. The parking lot was so small, not enough room for a fully booked hotel. It was overall the worst place we have stayed and I will never go back.

You would think a property that was advertised under the Wyndham name would have cable tv. IT DID NOT. Local channels only. Some didnt come with volume only cc. A complete joke. Would not reccomend unless you are a book reader.

Hotel was run down. It's difficult to get into the driveway to go up to the hotel. Without Siri I probably would have missed it and the highway is busy. The attendant was nice. The room was OK. At least it was cool. I didn't expect alot and I expected it would be run down and not that great. It was close to where I had my meetings and that's why I stayed there. The area was secure, parking lot was clean and close to the front door. Could use some new rugs and new paint and carpet. Bathtub looked stained and old. Air conditioner worked well which was a relief. It was OK. Extra taxes and fees tacked by the county made it more expensive than I expected. Wi fi worked

We had booked 2 rooms for 2 families and our stay did not start off well. The young man at the front desk was very nice, we had to change our rooms because the bath tub / did not work, top lock on doors for the 1st and 2nd room had 2 out of 4 screws coming loose from the door like someone tried to break into the rooms previously. And there was black mold like substance on the outside of the tubs. It was an okay stay but I cancelled my reservation for the following week when driving thru Birmingham.

Blood stains on the mattress cover. Brown Roaches crawling out of baseboards & bedding. Whirlpool was deteriorating, cracked & jets laying on the side of the tub. Stained and dirty towels. I was in the room for less then 15 mins, refused refund. Worst experience I've ever had. Could not reach anyone from expedia to help.

The property is in need of a remodel, worn furniture, etc.

The property and parking were fine but getting into the lot was hindered by road work and cones.

Bugs were in their room, mirror broken, door knob broken.

The outside of the property looks newer than the inside!! There isn't enough lighting in the room, there are recess lights in the ceiling and thats all!! Our door key got stuck in our door at 5 am and we called the front desk..They came up and couldnt get the key out, so we had to switch rooms at 5 am in the morning.. The bathtub in the new room was dirty (needed some bleach to it)!! The beds were very hard and uncomfortable!! My daughter plays travel volleyball so we stay at alot of hotels and this was the worst one ever!! We will not be back and dont recommend it!!

The hotel was dirty and smelly. It smelled like mold and weed. When I entered the room, it smelled like it was stale and moldy. During the day, it started raining and the room flooded with at least a half inch of water. You could tell by the smell the room had previously flooded, but they still rent this room out. Absolutely unacceptable.

The rooms and staff were great. The rooms clean and up to date. No funky smell like other rooms I have visited. Didn’t make the breakfast but there was some available.

The hotel has truly gone down since our last stay. The bed was comfortable but bugs were found in one of our rooms and in the tub which required moving to another. Breakfast was included but when we went down for breakfast there was 4 mini muffins, 4 waffles, 1/4 pitcher of milk, no fruit, no hot coffee. Needless to say, we did not stay for breakfast . Apparently the owner doesn't want food to go to waste but we were the first guests down stairs for breakfast and literally nothing was there to eat. We are not high maintenance folks but we will not stay at this facility again.

Room stinks. Not clean room

Bed was clean but pillows and pillow cases were yellowed. Towels were stained and shower looked dirty and had chips out of it. Breakfast was next to nothing.

The attendant at the desk gave me a hard time about asking for clean sheets. She said I needed to bring her the dirty sheets from my room before she would give me clean sheets. We changed the sheets ourselves due to lack of staff attention. Other guests commented on smoke alarms going off continually throughout the night and feces smeared on the front of the toilet upon arrival to their rooms.

Me and my fiancé stayed in the jet tub sweet , we had to clean the tub before we got in bc it still had dirt rings around it and also was told they have breakfast. We woke up to one Lego waffle , one muffin , cereal and some yogurt. Truly unacceptable

Staff was excellent and friendly, the blow dryer didn’t work and my biggest complaint was the bed frame. It was a metal frame that does not require a boxspring. Every time you moved it squeaked very loudly.

Enter not to even say you offer breakfast - Dismal Breakfast !!!!! - you have to microwave cool stored fried eggs that you can’t even recognize as a typical breakfast cooked egg - sausage was lackluster - biscuit small and cold - no jam - l never expected the room to be as small as it was - Sheez - Micro described it !!!

Facility was clean, room was well kept. However. the bed noise was awful. Each movement caused a metal like noise beneath the mattress.

Overall stay was great… the staff was super sweet and very quick with the check in process.. my only issue was that while yes, the bath tub worked the actual shower did not… there was no way to switch from bath to shower

Accessible room but the shower bench was broken when we arrived. Walls very thin, could hear neighbors in the middle of the night very loudly, one of the door locks was broken. Looks like no one has done a walk through in a bit.

Check in staff ok, check out staff very unfriendly. Could not take a shower, absolutely no warm or hot water. Leaking fridge, terrible loud noise all night. Dirty floor and towels left in room from previous night, small room, uncomfortable beds, terrible breakfast with almost nothing available. Will NEVER book again and suggest Expedia delete this hotel from system.

Room was small but very clean (housekeeping does an excellent job). However, walls were not well insulated (I could hear cellphone vibrating in room next to mine, and I could hear toilet being used in room above).

When we got into the room, it was burning like hell (86 degrees) as AC wasn’t on. Asked the front desk to switch and found out that all other rooms were the same. Seemed like owner had purposefully left the AC off to save on electricity bills. Onde we turned on the AC, took about 1.5 hours for the temperature to come down to desired temperature of 68 degrees.

Hotel is fine, decent bed and clean bathroom. Unfortunately the AC wasn't turned on in our room prior to arrival so the room was in the low 80s. Took all night running the AC full blast to get it down to 70. Breakfast was no frills, but got the job done.

NO ONE ANSWER. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. NO ATTEMPT TO REACH THE CUSTOMER BACK!!!!!!!

When I did the booking, I did not ask for a handicapped room, and when I came in the hotel, they’ve given me a completely handicapped room, and when I went to the front desk for the manager to just change my room, they said no it’s done through Expedia contact them they will do it. I don’t understand. What’s the big deal I’m not asking for an upgrade or anything but really unsatisfied with the service And the staff of the hotel would not recommend it to anybody.

Staff at front desk was rude and too busy looking at his phone to help. I checked in at 3:30pm asked for a room away from elevator and he said ok and put me right across from elevator? Paint peeling on shower ceiling. Very outdated and old room. Very small room, more like an old college dorm. Breakfast was the worst I ever saw at a hotel. Very thin walls could hear people’s conversations, walking and coughing.

The lobby and our room look and smell clean. Very nice property and staff. We had a comfortable stay. Breakfast is continental, so not a lot of choices as expected. There’s a shopping center nearby, and a lot of good places to eat at. Order from Pho Pho Asian, amazing food! Overall, great property. I will highly recommend.

It was easy access to job as well as restaurant and the malls

Great place for a shopping weekend

Good location. Convenient to dining options and easy in to hiway to go to Tuscaloosa.

The property and parking were fine but getting into the lot was hindered by road work and cones.

The stay was quite good for me. Except that the breakfast options were very limited. Need some more items in breakfast.

The breakfast was lacking majorly. Organge juice despenser smelled like mold and the juice tasted like mold. The breakfast biscuits and eggs were put out frozen to heat on microwave.

Horrible stay! Everything is outdated & the bathroom was dirty. The pillows were flat and even the coffee packets were expired! Free breakfast meant cold cereal and a packet of instant oatmeal (without any hot water) and watery orange juice with no fruit. The front desk staff wasn’t friendly at all.
