Excellent property off the beaten path - great for a close option near the airport. Really cool museum meets modern hotel vibe. Pool is really relaxing and you can enjoy a drink/quick bite. There is a restaurant within the palace that has cute little cats running around. Super unique spot!

We had an incredible stay, very relaxing. The pool area is quiet and not crowded, lots of chairs and umbrellas. Food was great, staff were pleasant. The property is quite impressive. We stayed for 2 nights at the start of a 2 week trip, wanted to extend this but they were full, not at all surprising for such a nice place. I've already recommended it to friends and I'm confident we'll be back. My only constructive feedback would be to recommend a set of adjustable dumbbells for the gym.

Clean modern rooms in a separate block to the original small palace. Nice pool area and good breakfast buffet. Not quite the same standard of service as would be typical in a 4* e.g. they did not replenish the coffee pods for the Nespresso machine

Nous sommes habitués aux hôtels de rang Small Luxury Hôtels et notre sélection pour ce palace s’est principalement dirigée du fait de l’appellation SLH en laquelle nous avons entièrement confiance, Nous avons été surpris et déçus de constater les points suivants: - Chambre ok mais vétuste, lits ressorts peu confortables, mégots qui sont écrasés partout devant notre balcon - Le restaurant est cher et ne vaut pas son prix, le personnel est froid, le service est lent, le sens du service inexistant - piscine: pas tjs de serviettes mises à disposition, cadre chaotique (serviettes qui traînent par terre, bord de la piscine sale et déchets qui traînent, les tables ne sont pas débarrassées, mouchoirs et pansements qui flottent dans la piscine durant l’ensemble du séjour) - le spa est inexistant et semble afficher fermé car aucun staff n’y est présent, le bar a un personnel peu présent voire absent et un choix très limité de boissons et cocktails - Les services standards d’un hôtel de ce rang ne sont eux non plus pas remplis: il faut payer le laundry et réserver à l’avance si l’on souhaite repasser soi même un vêtement. Beautiful property. Extensive breakfast. The indoor casual (non-dining) areas are part of the original palace and you can roam around freely and sit while enjoying the space. The hotel rooms are modern, well equipped and very spacious - they have a closed off balcony. There is no access to the outdoor gardens from the room. The gardens directly in the front of the palace and around the columns are accessible. There is no access to what looks like an Orangery and the areas where the fountain(?) is located. The gate to the garden is also locked so access is through the hotel. We went in Feb so did you use the outdoor pool. The indoor pool is nice, the steam room takes about 10 mins to get going and the sauna take 1 hour. You let them know at the spa and they turn them on. Parking was included and easy to access from rooms.

The Pousada facilities and staff were wonderful. The historic part of the Pousada was a former palace with restored rooms and period furniture. The rooms and facilities were modern and well kept - sizable rooms, wonderful views of the countryside, a great pool, and balconies/patios with scenic views of the orchard and town. The restaurant was very good but small - reservations are a must. The bar was also small, but nice. All the staff was warm and friendly. Parking on the facility was particularly convenient and safe. The town of Estoi is cute and safe to walk around. The gardens and orchard of the palace were wonderful to explore. The town is small, however. Estoi has some nice little shops and some ancient ruins within walking distance. For hikers or trail runners, there are some trails that go up into the hills and back around (about 5 miles - I used Strava to find possible running trails.) Estói was a great jumping-off point for those who rent a car - close to Loulé, Faro, Olhão, Portimão, and the rest of the Algarve. I would not recommend it for travelers without transportation unless it was just for a weekend getaway. Overall, the Pousada Palácio Estói was a wonderful find - we would definitely return and recommend.

We enjoyed our 5-night stay at La Pousada Palacio de Estoi. It's an old, renovated palace with a rich history and beautifully restored rooms. The hotel is spotless, and the staff is friendly and does their best to make your stay enjoyable.

Beautiful hotel in a special building in which we felt privileged to stay. Luxuriously apponted with stunning views over the gardens. Breakfast was excellent...a wide choice with good service. Hopefully the work on the gardens will continue and the disappointing barren and messy areas outside the little ground floor balconies will be improved upon. (Indeed outside our Room 019 there were discarded wine bottles and an old cigarette lighter. Not what you expect in a Luxury Small Hotel! ) It was also a real pity that the reception staff knew so little about the area. The lack of local knowledge, including no information about the adjoining village and the whereabouts and walks to the amazing Roman ruins at Milreu are a really wasted opportunity to enhance the stay for visitors. A local map,and awareness of potential bus services, would have precipitated an extended stay in this magical place.

Unique location, mixed building styles (which will give an architect an instant headache). Service staff friendly! And finally they put off the disturbing ‘music’ in the three palace rooms. The sleeping rooms are in a concrete building besides the palace (looks like nuclear-free bunker) rooms are dusty and there is the well known terror of automatic temperature regulation; which means to hot. Switch off and open the door to the balcony a while before sleeping. Take care ask level 2 or 3 ohtherwise you are next to a road. To end with a plus nice wellness and swimmingpool.

They must have acquired their title of small luxury hotels of the world a while ago and surf on it ever since. The hotel is old and lack of maintenance. Beds are highly uncomfortable. Stains on the sheets and carpet. The "spa" needs a serious refreshing. Outside furniture has to be change. Far from what you expect of that kind of establishment. Very des appointed. The palace is nice but here again the garden needs love and there is only one room that is worth the trip. I would have been satisfied with an half an hour visit.

It did not feel like a luxurious place except having access to sauna and that it is an extension of the palace. It had a nice view but because of the location there is nothing around the hotel. The room was a good size but the beds were a let down, not comfortable.

Fabulous old palace containing the bar, restaurant and lounge areas, whilst the rooms are in a modern new wing decorated with interesting modern art. Appreciated the tray of crackers, cheeses and cold cuts that were waiting for us in the room. Comfortable room, fantastic view. Good btreakfast and lovely helpful staff.

Beautiful property. Extensive breakfast. The indoor casual (non-dining) areas are part of the original palace and you can roam around freely and sit while enjoying the space. The hotel rooms are modern, well equipped and very spacious - they have a closed off balcony. There is no access to the outdoor gardens from the room. The gardens directly in the front of the palace and around the columns are accessible. There is no access to what looks like an Orangery and the areas where the fountain(?) is located. The gate to the garden is also locked so access is through the hotel. We went in Feb so did you use the outdoor pool. The indoor pool is nice, the steam room takes about 10 mins to get going and the sauna take 1 hour. You let them know at the spa and they turn them on. Parking was included and easy to access from rooms.

Beautiful place to stay. The reason for the 4 star rating is the fact there are no outlets to charge a laptop or cellphone. I found on the floor a good distance from a table or bed. This really surprised me because we live in a modern error where people use laptops and cellphones when traveling. Hotel needs to inform guests of this prior to booking. Also, the rooms are very new and modern, a complete contrast to the palace.

Fabulous old palace containing the bar, restaurant and lounge areas, whilst the rooms are in a modern new wing decorated with interesting modern art. Appreciated the tray of crackers, cheeses and cold cuts that were waiting for us in the room. Comfortable room, fantastic view. Good btreakfast and lovely helpful staff.

Views and palace area are beautiful. Restaurant food is excellent. But having cats fighting and begging for food all over the dining area not very pleasant. Waitstaff needs massive training on not forgetting to check on their tables and not to blame each other in front of clients over lapse of service. Cataplana and desserts were delicious. But had to go into the waiters station looking for waiters to order dessert as we were given the menu but it was at the end of the night and the kitchen closed before anyone came to take our order. Very unfortunate. Gratitude to the kitchen staff that opened the kitchen and send us up two amazing desserts and a coffee. Thanks to the waiter that offered a liquor with the expresso. Love staying at Pestana Group Pousadas but the service and lack of attention to detail was very disappointing.I sneezed nonstop as well as other people walking around the carpets or maybe was the presence of so many cats on the premises. The Palace has so much beauty in the historic buildings but the rooms need updating and removing the worn out carpets may be an easy fix. Still a beautiful place and with a lot of potential but more care and attention to detail as well as cleanliness would make the experience much more memorable. Training restaurant staff to provide better quality of service would be nice too because the food was excellent. Kudos to the Chef and his staff. Maybe learn from Pousada Flor de Rosa, Crato how to make clients feel valued to return.

We expected to visit Faro when we booked this Pousada and never left the property over a three night stay. Hospitality was very gracious, attention paid to specific food allergies, external massage therapist who was booked by the property was excellent, the staff was very friendly and engaging.

Love, love, loved our stay here what a hotel. Beautiful palace with sympathetically added bedrooms. Spacious, luxurious rooms, again with fantastic views. Wonderful views for the pool and bar area-stunning.Do wander into the town and around the beautiful gardens. Friendly, helpful staff-booked us a taxi for early airport run, with a breakfast bag. Even went to the trouble of prepping us coffees at 5am. We felt thoroughly spoilt.

The hotel is a little worn, and short staff They are hiring temps from agencies to fill void . The old Palace is an amazing building. They need to put some money into it to keep it in the condition. It should be kept it. I would stay there again I don’t think you’re staying in a luxury hotel.

The Palace itself is fantastic, very historic and picturesque, this includes reception, the gardens, restaurant, common areas. The rooms are good: modern, neat, nothing flashy or eccentric but clean and with plenty of natural light. Overall good experience, quite unique. Public transportation won't work well though, but for us this wasn't an issue as we had a car and we could drive to Faro for shopping or dining options (20 minutes) and approximately the same drive time to Tavira.

Excellent location away from the tourist hotspots of the coast, calm and nestled on the hills overlooking Faro in a XVII century villa surrounded by beautiful gardens. Modern guests quarters with 2 swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), gym, beauty parlour, garage are directly connected with the historical villa where the reception, bar, restaurant and the richly decorated living quarters of the house welcome the guests.

This is our 3rd visit and we have always felt very comfortable and very friendly, however the only thing we found this time was the dinner menu was different. We found that the dinner menu was very limited and could have done with more choices for mains and desserts. That would be our only criticism as it was much less variety than from our original stay in 2021.

Beautiful converted palace with huge stately rooms. The actual bedrooms are super modern and very large. Lovely garden and swimming pool. Worth to stay for a few days. Dinner was a bit disappointing as it took 90 minutes to get our food and the order was wrong. I would suggest eating outside. Breakfast is wonderful

Arrived late for one night B&B. Drinks in bar before bed and woke up to a lovely breakfast. Only stayed one night as staying in family villa close by but would totally come back again.
