A mouldy pillow makes this a hotel I can never again use or recommend. This hotel could do with a refresh, it's very tired. That's been the case for a while but it didn't mean it's unusable. However, finding lots of black mould on a pillow does. The reception staff seemed bothered and said the manager would call us. 5 days later, there's been no call. Very disappointed.

We stayed at the Days Inn at Taunton Deane (southbound) and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. Our first room, had a strong smell of damp and stale cigarettes, and the carpet appeared to have been recently washed, leaving the room feeling unpleasant and uncomfortable. We didn’t feel able to walk barefoot and kept our shoes on throughout. We requested a room change and the lady on reception was helpful and friendly, assisting us to move. Although better in terms of smell and cleanliness, the décor felt dated and mismatched. The wider service‑station environment also felt run‑down, and the general atmosphere wasn’t welcoming. Food options on site were standard and overpriced, and Days Inn offer a 25% discount for their customers. The service at the Costa was very good. Breakfast seating outdoors seems to have to be taken in the designated dog exercise area. This made the experience unpleasant but it seemed to be free from mess, Travellers should also be aware that the hotel is only accessible southbound. Approaching from the northbound side requires an additional detour of around 15 minutes. Overall, the stay did not meet expectations, and we would not choose this hotel again.

The room was large and airy and comfortable, and very clean. The bathroom had a rainfall shower over the bath, which was lovely - the shower had a decent flow rate (sometimes they can be rather inadequate). The receptionist was friendly, and check-in was simple. The Ways Inn is rooms only, (no restaurant) but the nearby services are more than adequate. There is outdoor seating, if the weather is good. Despite being just off the M5 the Inn is very quiet. Parking is included. For an overnight stop it was brilliant, and I'd happily book it again.

The staff were helpful during check in, but unfortunately that was where the positive experience ended. The room was poorly maintained, with an unpleasant smell, and the level of cleanliness fell below what you would expect.
