Very good, very welcoming, property very clean. Very old property but lovely, alot of original features. Lovely big garden for afternoon tea but unfortunately didn't get to use it. Really enjoyed our stay. Also had our dog with us and was made very welcome.

This is an 18th century property with a thatched roof that serves cream teas in the afternoon. It has lots of character and won't be for those looking for a modern place to stay. If you have mobilty issues, the steep stairs may also be a problem. However, it not all olde world, there is free internet, lots of easy parking and a breakfast menu that should have enough options to suit everyone.

A beautiful, quiet, clean and comfortable hotel and bedroom. Loved the history of the building. Extremely weloming and friendly service. Our hosts went above and beyond. We will definitely be back and were so grateful for the wonderful care given to us. Parking on site was easy and the local pub a short walk away. Highly recommend, thoroughly enjoyed the cream tea and delicious breakfast.

This was an overnight stay. It was easy to find and there was a convenient car park. Our host answered the door immediately and showed us up the room. It is a very old building with beams and sloping floors and has lots of character. The room was comfortable and warm. We had our evening meal in a pub called The Canon Inn in the village which was excellent. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Thanks for a lovely stay

The B and b was gorgeous, such a lovely old building and the owners were so friendly and welcoming. My partner and I both loved the character of the building. The tearoom was a bonus and we both said that that was the best cream tea we had ever had. Sitting outside in the garden was just heavenly. The location was great too and with a frequent bus service into Sidmouth and Exeter it was just perfect. We have both said that we will definitely stay there again.

Travelled here during a cycling trip and the owner was helpful in finding a secure place for my bicycle. Breakfast was fantastic and the building is historic and interesting.

Our room was perfect for our stay as we wanted twin bed room and had everything needed for our over night stay. We did not stay for breakfast as we we had to travel on early next day but the tea we had in the garden was lovely. The thatched guest house was in easy access for walks & visit to Sidmouth. Thank you

An old fashioned tea room /Bed and breakfast. A wonderful old building with thick walls and beams . Friendly owners and a single room with facilities next door. En-suites are available. A great full English complete with homemade marmalade. I will return.

We received a lovely warm welcome to this incredibly charismatic guest house. Stayed in a twin room with my sister as we were passing through on our travels - the room was clean and warm, and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was good - cereals, full English and toast. Lovely old cottage very clean and cute. Lovely breakfast all tasted home grown. If you like quirky old cottages this would suit you. Staff friendly and helpful and had a nice meal in the Cannon pub.

wonderful, full of character, quirky, not a straight wall ceiling or floor to be found, it was like going back in time. The shared bathroom was no problem as there is also washing facilities in room. Very friendly and efficient service with excellent breakfast

A lovely very old building. Sadly what made it uncomfortable was that the building sits right on the roadside and our room was over the front door area where the traffic made it difficult to sleep. The room was small but the beds were comfortable. A heater was provided in the room as no plumbed in heating. The shower had no power but I guess this is perhaps the trade off with such an old building. The gentleman who checked us in and looked after us for breakfast was great and friendly. Super breakfast, freshly cooked and a good selection. Just a shame about its roadside location.

18th c cob house with original features and furniture and fittings to match. Pleasant hosts who also offer cream teams. Lovey breakfast and choice of options. Unfortunately our room number 2 was adjacent main rd and heavy traffic was noticeable right under the window. Shower was unsuitable as water pressure low it dribbles out. Very old and tired decor which although in sitting with the propery was not our liking and in our opinion needs updating as very worn. Good value for money that said.

Door on the bathroom door needs to be addressed as very stiff and kept getting caught on the door frame. Shower not very powerful and took a while to reach temperature. Apart from that stay was good, bed was comfortable, room was spacious.

I have stayed here many times. Southern Cross is an ancient Devon thatched cottage and grade 2 listed building. It is quaint and quirky. The service is brilliant, the breakfast is excellent and very dog friendly. I always enjoy my stay.

I liked the old world charm of Southern Cross, and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The bed was comfortable, and there were some nice touches such as strawberries to put on our cereal at breakfast, home-made marmalade, and nice biscuits on the tea tray in our room. We appreciated these.

Lovely homely traditional B&B in beautiful historic thatched cottage. Fantastic location for Sidmouth, Seaton and Lyme Regis. Lovely full english breakfast with perfectly cooked fried eggs, real butter for the toast, and amazing homemade marmalade. Friendly and helpful host.

A beautiful, quiet, clean and comfortable hotel and bedroom. Loved the history of the building. Extremely weloming and friendly service. Our hosts went above and beyond. We will definitely be back and were so grateful for the wonderful care given to us. Parking on site was easy and the local pub a short walk away. Highly recommend, thoroughly enjoyed the cream tea and delicious breakfast.

The B and b was gorgeous, such a lovely old building and the owners were so friendly and welcoming. My partner and I both loved the character of the building. The tearoom was a bonus and we both said that that was the best cream tea we had ever had. Sitting outside in the garden was just heavenly. The location was great too and with a frequent bus service into Sidmouth and Exeter it was just perfect. We have both said that we will definitely stay there again.

Our room was perfect for our stay as we wanted twin bed room and had everything needed for our over night stay. We did not stay for breakfast as we we had to travel on early next day but the tea we had in the garden was lovely. The thatched guest house was in easy access for walks & visit to Sidmouth. Thank you

We received a lovely warm welcome to this incredibly charismatic guest house. Stayed in a twin room with my sister as we were passing through on our travels - the room was clean and warm, and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was good - cereals, full English and toast. Would definitely return, and would highly recommend.

We only stayed one night but we would have stayed all week because it was a very nice place,very clean and we weren’t expecting a cooked breakfast in the morning but it was all included which was so reasonable for the price and was just lovely. We had the best cream tea ever in Devon sat in the tranquil garden it’s a must and would recommend this hotel anytime.thanks Richard and Katja Howell

Lovely homely traditional B&B in beautiful historic thatched cottage. Fantastic location for Sidmouth, Seaton and Lyme Regis. Lovely full english breakfast with perfectly cooked fried eggs, real butter for the toast, and amazing homemade marmalade. Friendly and helpful host.

I liked the old world charm of Southern Cross, and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The bed was comfortable, and there were some nice touches such as strawberries to put on our cereal at breakfast, home-made marmalade, and nice biscuits on the tea tray in our room. We appreciated these.

Really enjoyed stay. Fab breakfast. Wonderful Cream team. Old fashioned in style with no en-suite facilities but worked well. Bed comfortable. Parking facilities. All really that one needs and for me represented great value for money.
