The pub restaurant is lovely, the food is great and the staff are welcoming. I stayed in a very nice room in the brick barn. My only complaint would be the WiFi is poor. I wanted to watch the footy on my iPad and the signal was not strong enough to get me a continuous signal so cut out a lot. Wi-Fi in the pub is perfect.

Very pretty village and area. Good value for money. Nice, clean, if basic rooms, but nice comfortable bed. Lots of parking. Good breakfast. Friendly staff, if gaps in when you could find them. Access to Thames path. A couple of options for food. I went to The Rising Sun. Good beer and a buzz in a Thursday evening, and food choice okay (but not inspiring). Amazingly in this day and age, no WiFi so back to paper and pen for working I’d be happy to stay again

This is a lovely place to stay if you need to be near Henley. A traditional pub and restaurant with lovely accommodation as well. Very friendly staff and you can bring your dog!

Stayed here overnight whilst travelling on business . Arrived around 730pm, hotel easy to find and lots of parking. Allocated a room in the lodge area, clean but basic, not bad for a 3 star hotel. WiFi was excellent and available everywhere. Evening meals available in the pub, this was an area which let the hotel down, very limited vegan options (only soup starters, no desserts). A burger on the mains and I think they could do better. Overnight room was very quiet, ideal for a good nights sleep. Breakfast was a great service , very polite staff and a great continental fruit selection. Vegan options again could be better , sausage was low quality - choices need updating . Fresh fruit and juice plus oat milk was well received. Easy check out process no complaints. The limited food would probably put me off from a return visit , there’s not much else in the area to compete either. Hopefully they update the menu soon.

Pleasant stay which would have got 5 stars save for some services issues. That said a one night stay in a standard room with breakfast and ample free parking, a 5 minute stroll to the river gives good value for just under £100. Additionally we added an evening meal and the food was good with a decent wine list.

The historic inn areas are beautiful with much wood and thoughtful touches, furniture and decor combines comfort and aesthetics. The garden is a peaceful haven with lots of space and flowers... and Thames footpath is very close by. The only issue was that our room was not ready on time but the above-and-beyond helpful staff more than made up for the inconvenience and we had a delightful wait in the garden. They do do remarkable service running front desk, bar, gourmet restaurant (the Scarlet Pimpernel could not have asked for a better supper). Definitely get the breakfast option!

The hotel is in a beautiful village and a short walk from the river. It is a very old property with great potential, but let down by tired shabby decor, and poor housekeeping. My room had evidence of the previous occupants, a shower that needed descaling, and mould growing in the bathroom. Breakfast was poor with a limited offer. Restaurant staff need direction and lack confidence.

Nice, friendly and accomodating staff. Big room for young family. However the only let down was that the shower which nearly flooded the room due to the build of the shower area/screen. Also we noticed marks on the matress protector when the sheets moved. These were the only let downs to a acceptable stay in a lovely area.

There is a range of rooms here and I had one in the cottage. Access was convoluted. Room itself had mould on a blind, bare wood flooring, in need of basic maintenance.

Lovely old hotel and a great room in the main hotel building. Just a couple of things let it down a little bit. On Saturday lunchtime there was a definite lack of staff and those that were there seemed rushed off their feet, meaning the customer service wasn’t quite what it should have been. When we checked into the room later in the afternoon, the floor was a bit dirty with hairs and dust on it. I spoke to reception and it was dealt with straight away which was a great improvement on the earlier customer service. Overall i would definitely recommend staying there as it is a beautiful hotel in a lovely village. It just needs a few little tweaks in the way it is run to make it a fantastic place to stay.

Breakfast was a real disappointment it was a Buffet impossible to make a decent cup of Tea as no boiling water. the cover on the serving table was dirty with serving spoons on top . the scrambled egg was uneatable , as was bacon and sausages , we both did not have a cooked breakfast on the two mornings . On the second day my husband asked for a poached egg which excellent . Bed very comfortable, but messy hospitality tray also only one bath towel in bedroom , toilet holder broken , bathroom could have been cleaner .on the whole Staff helpful , but their I.T System seemed a problem at times. Lovely Garden the seating could have been more comfortable ( cushions) would have helped . its a lovely old Hotel but could do with freshening up say Lounge and bar Furniture tired and shabby .Its a shame as Breakfast very poor and having travelled a long distance we feel cheated really.

hotel, staff and rooms clean, charming and a great place to stay. Dom and the bar team excellent, the locals welcoming and the room warm, quiet and big. Only very small issue is pressure for the shower in my room was on the low side but it was hot and plenty of water.

We ordered a deluxe room. This was in the old part of the property and was on 2 levels with a winding staircase between them, the bathroom being on the lower level and the bedroom on the upper level. We decided it was not safe in case someone had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, a situation made more difficult by my bad knee. The second room we were given was on one level but it was very noisy due to the main air intake to the building being next to the room and there being a window nearby which was impossible to completely close. The room was spartan with no chairs to sit on. So we rejected this room as well. In no way could this be called a deluxe room. The third room was a downgrade but it was quiet and on one level. We requested a rebate but the hotel refused to give us one. Service in the restaurant was variable. One morning we had to request coffee multiple times before some appeared.

We were given a cold room away from the main hotel overlooking a power supply unit and a brick wall. The fire alarm went off at 8.00am and we could hear the next room conversation all night. This used to be a great hotel, I will never stay here again.

Nice big room, breakfast was good, parking was easy and there are loads of spaces set in the middle of a lovely village. My only complaint would be with no air conditioning on one of the warmest days in the year I could not get my room under 26C and that would be in the morning, it was hotter at the end of the day which made it hard to sleep. There was a fan which I used but it was so hot. A small fridge would have been nice to keep some water cool.

Beautiful old building with spacious rooms but ambience and decor are stunted by poor management and maintenance. The bed frame was too big for the mattress, leaving a 1/2 foot gap all round the bed in which the meagre pillows often got lost. The mattress was too big for the bed linen. Everything seemed to be falling into disrepair - window screens with gaping holes, paint peeling off the walls. Our first morning there, they ran out of eggs at breakfast! Suffice to say, we didn’t stay for breakfast the next day. Shame for a cosy space.

Would recommend upgrading room type, the entry level rooms in the single storey building have absolutely no soundproofing, and the carpets in this area are well overdue to be replaced. The historic hotel is in a lovely rural location in a riverside village with local towns nearby. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Really great stay, comfy bed, great location and staff wonderful and very welcoming. The breakfast was great except the sausages and black pudding were undercooked and the beans were cold but there was lots of options and plenty to choose from so it was delicious. Room was great but we were only provided with one set of towels and there were 2 of us, rang down to reception several times but no one answered so frustrating, my poor husband hand to using a tiny towel for his shower so not ideal. I definitely recommend staying here especially if you are attending a wedding near by. The locals are all really lovely too.

I love this hotel, the location is great for work and it has a lovely ambience. My only criticisms are that it can take a little while for your order to get taken in the restaurant and the tables need to wiped down properly. I will definitely be back! :)

The ‘luxury’ room in the annexe was large but the wall was in a disgraceful state with crumbling plaster and paint chipped off all around the switches. The shower pressure was poor and didn’t drain properly- the shower cubicle was old and needed replacing. We had to get our own tea from reception in the morning as it has not been replenished properly. Not what I would expect for £145. Staff were scruffy and unprofessional. Check-in procedures completely inflexible.

We booked a luxury room, had all you would expect, large room , nicely decorated. We opted for the curry special evening meal- worst curry I have ever had, the description given by staff was chicken or vegetable, well they should have said veg curry full of chickpeas with a few added bits of chicken. Staff had no knowledge of their own products. Breakfast was fantastic- good variety, perfect staff and very helpful .

Lovely old hotel, lots of character, and really pleased to be in one of the rooms in the original building.Quiet and relaxing. Breakfast very good value, dinner perhaps less so, but no complaints, and table service was excellent.

Hotel room spacious , lovely roll top bath. Breakfast was very nice, staff attentive and good variety. We dined on the first night and had the curry special which was very poor and staff didn’t seem to know what they were serving. Was told chicken or vegetable curry, chose chicken which should have been described as chickpea with a few pieces of chicken , I think it was the veg curry with a few pieces of chicken added. Very disappointed with the curry special and staff on that night, took long time to get served at bar too.
