We only had an overnight stop here so our experience was limited. However it's a nice looking property, staff were very friendly, polite and helpful, there is reception 24hrs, ample parking and nice scenery round about. We had a good buffet style breakfast and although our room, number 1, isn't in the best location, it was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee, biscuits and shower/shampoo gels in the bathroom. There are a number of motorhome or campervan slots available for 1 to 3 night stays and an outside toilet available, all for a competitive price. We enjoyed our stay and it was good value for money.

Great stay at The Old Stone Trough. Restaurant was too busy on the second night to be able to eat though. However, I believe there is a local eatery close by. Staff very lovely in the restaurant and house staff.

Gorgeous views from a lovely seating area. Large free car park. Tea/coffee replenished daily. Bed wasn’t comfortable as could feel springs. Taking a shower was a problem, lucky to have hot water if the water decided to come through the tap or shower. Breakfast in the dining room was cramped & poorly run. Constantly ran out of orange /apple juice, had to wait for bacon & eggs to be replenished, although was hot & tasty, tea/ coffee was dreadful. Choice of muesli or cornflakes, apple or over ripe bananas, no pastries or yoghurt provided. Staff were friendly & worked hard, but obvious no training given. Would not stay here again.

Good place to stay with bar and restaurant on site. Stay included buffet breakfast ehich was very good too.

Great pub hotel with great breakfasts and area for motorhome parking place

Absolutely stunning hotel. Was upgraded to an Annex room at no extra cost. Had lovely roast dinner in the restaurant. Great buffet style breakfast. Would love to stay there again. Bus stop outside hotel which goes to Skipton via Barnoldswick.

Always a good stay, we relax, walk the dog and have nice food and drinks in the bar, few welcomed changes since last visit. Decor and furnishings been updated. Lot new additions to the camper van parking area too, new signage etc. Very impressed. If you go between 12-5 Monday to Friday they do 2 course meal £13.95. A bargain, good food.

We stayed 2 nights.. Very comfortable bed and lovely breakfast included in the price. We had a standard double room. All very clean, however I would say that this room could do with an update, especially the bathroom. We ate in the restaurant on one of the evenings and the food was very good.

Lovely staff at this hotel and large rooms with coffee/tea making facilities but I was in the annex and they are really tired rooms. The smell walking in was terrible, stale and strong literally bought air freshener while I was out to spray around when I came back. The room was large but the carpet was so awful underfoot I didn’t want walk on it and peeling at the corners ,the walls were marked in places and hadn’t been cleaned and the bath in the bathroom was very dingy and had no moulding where it met the Lino floor just a big gap full of moulding floor. The real bug bear was that the Curtains in the room are white/yellow and completely see through when the light shines as it’s the height of summer I was awakened at 3:30 with no way to darken the room. There were also very noisy fire doors that slam open and shut when people come and go. Not a good nights sleep. I wouldn’t return though I do wonder if the rooms in the hotel part are better as I heard people rebooking. Breakfast basic but nice considering it’s free with the room.

There were a lot of positives such as the room was clean and tidy and the food in the restaurant was good. Staff were friendly and it was an enjoyable visit.

The room was very small and no way was a decent double. The mattress was old and stained and the bedding very well used. The shower had black mould The sink plug hole was black The carpet from reception was actually black with dirt it was truly shocking. Receptionist accused me of being rude because I complained which I did politely. We could not stay in this room and had to find alternative accommodation. Easily one of the worst hotels I've ever booked !

The room had a smell of urine coming from the bathroom , the bed wasn’t comfortable the bedding didn’t feel clean, and felt very old and thin ,breakfast was just about ok ,not much choice and not good quality of food .

For the price we paid everything was good. Decent room and food was good. The bathroom could of done with freshening up as grout was grubby and toilet felt very low. The lady on reception was fantastic and very helpful even finding us a dmall heater as the room was quite cool and my husband has cancer and feels the cold

Really pleasant stay at the Old Stone Trough, a hotel which is handily situated on the A59 Colne Road, and which overlooks open country at the rear. The staff were unfailingly pleasant and obliging, and the dining room is clean and well kept. The food is of excellent quality, and the buffet breakfasts leave you fit to burst if you overindulge, as we did on a couple of mornings during our stay. Our room was pleasant and of generous proportions, the bed was firm but as other reviewers have said, the accommodation is tired and in need of refurbishment. It was also a disappointment to find that the water pressure was poor and the shower barely adequate. During our stay there was a spell of unseasonably cold weather, and the lack of heating left our windows streaming with condensation in the morning. Having said all the above, the positives far outweigh any negatives, and we would definitely stay at the Old Stone Trough again in the future. There are plenty of interesting places to visit within easy reach, and we've yet to do some of them. Most importantly of all, the room tariff for four nights' bed and breakfast was very reasonable indeed. So to the Old Stone Trough its "till we meet again" and not "goodbye".

Stayed here a few times. always good food and great staff but the small rooms showers need updated

Useful location and quiet, but overall disappointing. We booked the highest standard room, but there were issues. The en suite was very tired with marked bath and a shower which stopped supplying water mid-shampoo - fortunately came back to life (for no obvious reason) The WiFi didn't work in the room (we could pick it up in the main hotel), the main room light (which came on with the en suite light) flickered and flashed non-stop), the towels were threadbare with holes and only one side of the double bed had a bedside table despite room for one. On raising these issues, the towels were replaced with good ones, a staff member looked at the light but couldn't fix it (no maintenance available until the morning...) lack of WiFi raised a surprised response (surely they knew?) and the lack of bedside table got a shrug. Breakfast was very basic but the staff tried hard.

We have stayed here on a number of occasions and the rooms are well overdue refurbishment, dated , condensation on the inside of the windows

We had a very spacious room with a large double bed , two televisions, and a sofa. There was tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits. No fridge and the hairdryer was at reception. The bathroom was huge with a large shower and claw footed bath. Both the bedroom and bathroom were very clean. We didn't eat at the restaurant for dinner but have eaten there before and it was very good. Breakfast was included in the price but we were surprised to be charged over £3 for a second cup of coffee. The oyher thing that spoilt our stay was the overwhelming stink of pot. We were on the ground floor and the smell was awful. We werent sure if this was guests or staff but it wasn't pleasant.

The place was good, great breakfast but poor Wi-Fi I couldn’t use my phone in my room.

Room clean, hotel fine, customer service 5 star, just an issue with shower, water pressure low and cold water, not heating up, apart fron that the usual high standards were met.

This is now the 3rd stay hers, over a a few years - can see the changes, not all for the best - 30 minute breakfast sitting - last day was nade to feel an inconvenience, as we arrived 3 minutes prior to our 9am slot. Gave our room number, was looked at to told we was early - there were 6 empty tables for 2's. She pointed us to a table for 6 - 3 other 2's followed us, to be greeted morning, taken to ta table for 2. Within our 30 minute sitting4 remaining 2 tables stayed empty - unsure what seat plan you use - but a simple swap of room numbers to empty sittings should be an easy task - Not running water in the bathroom between 8 - 8:30am tried using the room phone gave engaged tone continual, we stayed in the anex. Friday night had a table reserved for 7, had to ask for an extra chair, as only seated for 6, asjed the lady who walked past us, to be told, its not her job, to find chairs.......as we was meeting family, wd was seated, orderd food & drink, enjoying our catch up for a waitress to come over, to tell us the table was reserved & who seated us. Childs mac & chesse needed to go back, far too salty & garlic tasting, too strong for a childs meal - was replaced eith a bowl of chips - Disappointed on this returned visit

Decor a bit tired, but staff and food excellent.

Check in staff were great as were the breakfast staff. All round excellent

While the staff were friendly and welcoming unfortunately they were understaffed on our visit and our meal took several hours to complete! And when it did arrive they had obviously been sat under heating lamps. The breakfast was poor quality. The rooms were good value for the money and clean although an interesting wallpaper technique. We’d asked for a room fairly close to the restaurant and ended up as far away as possible and had to go outside to get to and from the restaurant. We could only see one disabled parking space and that was farthest away from the entrance. I would suggest that at least half of the spaces at the top car park should be designated as such. We have previously enjoyed our stays at this hotel but sadly we won’t be returning. Our best wishes to the staff.

Great food and friendly staff

Breakfast staff very attentive, constantly checking availability of fresh cooked items, evening meal staff excellent, without exception. Receptionist extremely helpful,nothing is too much trouble.

I booked to stay here for 2 nights as i was working in the area. The room was OK. However the reason for my bad review is that at about 10:30 at night I was asleep in bed and heard a noise at the door - I'm a woman and was alone so I was absolutely terrified. The door unlocked and opened, and a couple walked into my room - whoever was on reception had given them a key to my room and I think they were equally shocked. After being woken up and feeling so scared I hardly slept knowing that security was so poor. I checked out about 7am the next morning, explained what had happened and said I would like a refund. The lady on reception was understanding and said she would take it up with the manager so I left a phone number for the manager to contact me. Its now 5 days later and I haven't received a refund, and haven't had any contact from the hotel at all, not even an apology. It's shocking that this happened in the first place, and even worse that this hotel cares so little about personal safety. It is lucky that it was a nice couple who walked into my room and not someone with bad intentions. Also my belongings would have been in there during the day whilst I was at work, so if the key had been given out whilst I wasn't in whoever came into that room would have been able to rifle through all my luggage with free reign. Unacceptable.

Booked one night stay for Thurs, close for Skipton visit on Friday. Deluxe double room with garden view in annexe. Had a great night's sleep and a great cooked breakfast. They could do better with the coffee though.Didnt use the restaurant but did pop in for a drink at the bar, very nice and pleasant decor, would have used the bar for longer but was very crowded with a wedding booking and most tables reserved.On the whole a very pleasant stay and would recommend

Easy to find, well lit with ample parking. Hotels.com had not informed OST that our booking was a Twin room so we were grateful that the receptionist could accommodate this. Our friend's room was in the main building and we were in the annexe. Their room was renovated with bright, cheery wallpaper and fixtures, our annexe was basic and a little tired in contrast, but a larger space and perfectly comfortable. We had our evening meal in the restaurant. We were advised of a large group of 16 in advance so knew to anticipate a wait, however there were a number of other unfortunate errors. We received the wrong drink and my friend's food order was wrong twice. First the completely wrong meal, then it was served with the curry sauce which my friend had asked for without sauce. The meal was remade(and arrived with extra chips!) But this did mean that by the time my friend's meal arrived the rest of us had finished and then we were told that we couldn't order desserts as the kitchen had just closed...a shame when we hadn't caused the delay. Breakfast was good quality, although we were shown to our table, served our hot drinks and left to our own devices, the staff stationed themselves by the bar. After 10 minutes when another group arrived we observed and realised that it was a self-serve buffet. This hadn't been explained so we had been waiting on the waiter's return. On the whole, comfortable for a good price. No frills but perfectly fine and a good base for exploring Skipton.

Nicely decorated rooms, comfortable bed. Could offer more choice of eggs at breakfast (poached, scrambled). Was shocked to hear from the waitresses that if you want another cup of tea/coffee or even water with breakfast, that you have to pay for it!

We had room 5. No full length mirror only one mirror placed so high on wall it was impossible to see yourself in it. I had the Sunday roast meal the vegetables were like slop couldn’t actually say or taste what it was. No defined veg like peas, carrots or cauliflower or broccoli. Staff friendly & very attentive

Unfortunately this stay did not match the last 3 visits both Saturday night and Sunday morning we had no water for 20 mins apparently due to guests showering at the same time, also breakfast although time slot booked was pretty shambolic, hot drinks arrived after 30 mins and food was sparse, certainly not up to previous visits all, very disappointing

We stayed last August and had a great time, sadly not now. We ungraded or so we thought, the room had poor quality furniture mismatched wall paper. A double size bed topper on a king size bed, only one bath towel between the 2 of us, no more available. Breakfast was basic, no fruit or yoghurt, second morning breakfast only one cereal available, tomato must have been the day before as no whole toms only juice, poor quality sausage over done bacon. Evening meal, first night ok, second fish & chips was swimming in fat, run out of mushy & garden peas only beans or veg on offer. Husbands ribs arrived cold, when returned they came with gravy on to warm them up. Kristian tried to help be offering free drink or pudding we chose the drink, they had run out of fruit cider so had to have alternative, husband asked for small bottle of prosecco, pump fiz came instead. This hotel was great ladt August, clearly running on a shoe string now, wont be visiting again

Great price and a nice friendly place to stay. Good breakfast included and a wide selection of meals if staying for evening meal.

Great hotel. Excellent food, and very helpful and attentive staff. Only thing I would change slightly is to add pastries at breakfast and maybe fruit and yoghurt, just for some variety.

The breakfast lets this hotel down I think the chef must have had a butty wagon before being employed here. Nothing is freshly cooked bacon very salty and the sausage has very little meat in them.

Overall excellent and would certainly stay here again, receptionist was super helpful only 2 minor things were my shower in the annex had awful water pressure so showering was a challenge and the breakfast seemed on a budget cheap sausages used etc which against how good evening food was is a surprise
