Hilton Garden Inn Arlington-Shirlington

There was construction going on in the hotel Monday through Saturday about 830 am to 530 pm. I only found this out after I checked in. When construction was being done (jackhammers) it was very loud and disruptive. The hotel also looked like a construction site.

The room was comfortable and safe. The staff were friendly. I wish the room was a little cooler temperature but overalls very nice. The only thing that was frustrating was the parking situation having to go across the street and up almost a block to a parking garage and only being able to park on the 4th floor. Would most likely stay again.

Construction going on 24/7 with no warning or compensation. No amenities are also available at this time. Staff seemed passive to the situation when I called to seek assistance.

Appreciate the ability to obtain parking in the deck as well as help in airport transportation.

The shuttle is super to get to metro and airport especially. The drivers are awesome. Hotel staff is friendly and responsive. The only tricky part was when you turn on the TV, it is locked on weather channel and takes about five minutes to reboot itself. So turn it on a while before a shoe you want to watch Thank you for a nice stay!

Hotel was fine. Unfortunately, it did not have a pool or room service as advertised, both of which helped me select this hotel.

This property is clean and conveniently located next to various shops and places to dine. Hotel shuttle will pick you up at the airport and other locations just call the front desk. There is construction going on which prevents me from giving it a 5 star rating. The fitness room and indoor pool are unavailable. In addition, only one elevator works. The price should have been adjusted since no one has access to those amenities. Construction starts early in the morning so lots of noise going on. It didn’t phase me because I was up early anyways. Might be an issue for others.

Quiet area with easy walk to restaurants. Given price, was a little disappointed that no on site parking available and no credit for parking in separate building inconveniently located across the street but requiring drive around the block to get to. Also, 1st floor common area under construction so no dining area and area for convenience purchases jammed into small disorganized space. Just not pleased.

Clean room. High Ceilings. Parking was extra $22 across street on garage 4th floor. But not too far away.

Beautiful lobby & room! Room was clean, comfortable bed and bedroom. We stayed in a king room on the 3rd floor. Only recommendation is raise the room tv a little higher. With the bed being high it is a little awkward.

I have no complaints, even with parking being across the street in a parking garage, loading and unloading luggage was a breeze.The room was cIean, bed was comfortable, location is great. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others.

When we checked in, we realized that neither breakfast nor parking was included, I interpret this as the website (Expedia) being confusing or as confusion in the hotel description. Because I used the filters to choose precisely a hotel with those characteristics. In addition we were warned that the cleaning is done every other day and when I checked the towels I found a very dirty one. I asked for a replacement immediately but they didn't do it until the day the cleaning was done... two days with someone else's dirt in my room.

The hotel is very modern, spacious and very clean! The staff were so helpful and accommodating! The restaurant/kitchen was amazing - the food was very savory and good size portions. We were there for a family event so there were a lot of us - coming & going! Tons of restaurants, grocery store and shops within walking distance!

Checked in for two nights and the first night at around 10:30pm pulled back the sheets only to find them disgustingly stained. It wasn’t just a small stain but very large either coffee spill or gosh knows what else. Don’t even want to contemplate what else coming from a hotel room. Anyhow, immediately called front desk to have them come change the sheets only to be told rudely that the cleaning staff had left and can’t be done until tomorrow and then they just hung up. I slept on the chair and ottoman that night as there was no way I was sleeping in that bed. The next morning I asked to speak to a manager. Spoke to two actually (Ben and Chris) and were told it was unacceptable behavior and not up to Hilton standards. They completely agreed with me that the front desk could have come up and changed the sheets (which they have access to the linen closets),or could have switched room for us but regardless that should not have happened. I said heck they could have just given me the sheets and I would have changed the bed myself! I also pointed out that the elevator there is a sign that says Hilton guarantees your satisfaction or we will make it right. They promised they would give me a two night free voucher because of the rude staff I encountered and because I had to sleep in a chair. I would be sent the voucher through corporate. I’ve waited almost 3 weeks now and have yet to receive anything. Horrible customer service and disgustingly dirty hotel

I have allergies and despite the deep cleaning that the hotel staff said they do in every room, I suffered greatly because I could still smell the pet fur and dander

Quiet location. Swift check in. Clean room & bathroom. Good water pressure.

The place overall was convenient. The bad parts however were that walking to our room, the hallway smelled horribly of throw up. Then when we got to our rooms, it was fine until the next morning my sister got pink eye from either the makeup wipe the hotel provides or their pillow cases. Whichever it was, that’s not good. Then we were woken up 3 times from the housekeeping staff when our check out was 12. I had to tell them 3 different times and it was the same people. So that was a little annoying to have to wake up to tell the same person something over and over again. We felt rushed to leave the hotel. All and all I probably would not stay here again.

Room shower was not clean

This hotel was in a good location to access the DC area. It was clean with recent renovations to all the rooms. Overall, the experience was enjoyable. Parking was convenient.

Spacious clean quiet room in great neighborhood

The rooms need curtains. They have blackout shades, but light floods through the gap between the wall and the shades. No safe in the room. The hotel was very quiet which was terrific. It’s located in a terrific area with a variety of restaurants just outside of the property, there’s also a movie theatre, library and live theatre just steps away. Great, safe walking path across the street.

Had a nice stay, staff was very helpful especially Jasmine! She is so kind and knowledgeable! Renard was friendly and provided a great check in. Chris was helpful, as well. Rooms definitely need a renovation and staff said it’s happening in January. Very poor lighting in the room and desk area was too dark to work. The workout room is excellent and location is superb! Enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back after rooms are renovated.

A great and convenient area. Wish my room had a little better lighting. View is of an alley so not as much natural light. Interior bulbs might be eco friendly but dim. I would improve the lighting.

The room was great. Nice view, comfortable bed and pillows, clean walk-in shower, and good size.

The room (230) did not have a Wi-Fi signal.

Rooms are a little dated and could use a good cleaning, but otherwise acceptable.

Room was clean and spacious. Only 2 issues 1. Could not connect my gaming or streaming to the TV, 2. Was a few loud dogs next door and across from my room . But other then that wonderful stay . Will definitely revisit

The only bad thing we have to say about the property was our room had a view of the dumpster.

Great location, bad room location. Brick wall was my view as well as the trash and compactor which was being changed early in the am! Shower was good and room was spacious.

Great location, Amanuel at the front desk was very friendly, and a great help with information on parking and places to eat in the area. I travel to Arlington on a regular basis to visit my daughter in Pentagon City and normally stay over there, but due to this experience and location, I hope to stay at this hotel more often. Extremely happy!!!

We had a great stay! We were there during a challenging time and the staff went above and beyond to help us. Front desk checked us in quickly and easily. Our shuttle bus drivers were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be staying here again!

The poor rating is not for the room itself, which was quite "roomy" and nice. The property is situated in a great area with lots of great dining options nearby. I checked in for 3 days. There was 1 water bottle in the room. I went down to collect more and I was told by the person at the front desk (very rudely in front of many other guests) that I\'d have to pay for water, it isn\'t free! What!? Someone can run the shower for an hour and drain out gallons of water, but they want $2 back for drinking water? What next, charge me for flushing the toilet? Hilton spams me with HH mails multiple times a week, charged me $250 for the room per day, and cannot provide a couple of water bottles? Take the poor rating then.

Checking in we go to our room and the room they gave us someone was sleeping in!! We could have been put in a much worse situation if those people woke up and thought we were breaking into their room. We go downstairs to tell the front office guy that he has given us a room that someone was sleeping in!! We go to checkout and no one was there with a sign that no one was currently there! Had to catch a flight and left the keys on their desk. Awful experience this could have turned out worse if those people woke up.

The front desk host, Denise went above and beyond to make our stay one of the best experiences me and my mother have had at any hotel!! She provided excellent eating suggestions, gave us a late checkout since our grandson was sick and we were unable to give him one more visit before we had to leave. She called us a cab due to their shuttle being stuck in traffic, so we would not be late to the airport! Just the best customer service!! We will definitely be back 😊

My name is Bill on Expedia however my ID has William. Check in was more difficult then it needed to be. 2nd time staying at this hotel 1st time issue because website allowed dogs but hotel was not aware. Been using this site and this name for years and I am completely disturbed by the uppity attitude of the desk personnel when I am clearly the person that made the reservation. Will not be staying here again

We love staying here every time we come to the Washington DC area. It’s a great location with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. There’s convenient parking. The rooms are clean and spacious. But most of all, the staff is super accommodating and engaging. Thanks Zack and Denise for always making our stay so special. Can’t wait to come back East again in a few months. See you then.

Good location, good price, excellent staff, superb room. This hotel is part of "Shirlington Village," an upscale shopping area of Arlington, Va., that includes many restaurants, shops, a live theater, and a movie theater. It's also very easy to get from the hotel to I-395 that leads directly to Washington, D.C. in about 15 minutes.

I booked my stay w breakfast included, then told me when I got there they were doing construction and the kitchen wasn’t open so breakfast was ala cart, so I would have to pay extra. No thanks. Not acceptable.

Everything was great except to the restaurant alternatives at the hotel, no lunch offering and limited dinner menu.

Great property, breakfast made to order was really good. Very nice staff. Didn’t like that I had to walk the alley then take the elevator up to the parking lot.

It was a good stay. I didn't like that the bar closed so early and that coffee machine nect to check in was broken, but everything else was ok.

Big clean room, as well as the bathroom. I like the way the shower is setup, wide open with no ledge to step over. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, as well as a cafe in the lobby, that had an excellent breakfast buffet.

Beautiful “downtown” location. Parking ease better than expected. Bar closed early on Saturday night. Would have loved a nightcap as we were late arrivals. Guess we could have gone down street…too tired. Wasn’t sure how “breakfast” worked. Felt awkward.

With so many dining options within walking distance, I’d suggest skipping the breakfast offered by HGI. It was mediocre at best but service excellent

Nice renovation and comfortable bed and AC. Breakfast not great (coffee gets 1 star). A small suggestion to upgrade experience: real water glasses in rooms. Thank you.
