Adamton Country House Hotel

Well all I can say is that the price of the hotel seemed cheap and friendly but I will strongly alarm anyone who wants to book this property for the cheap price because they set up a trick for the parking. What happened to me was that they mistakenly forgot to register my car registration number when i checked in, then few days later I received a £100 parking charge letter. Subsequently when I tried to contact this hotel it costed me £13 per minute phoning them. Now I have to send an appeal letter to prove I was an guest of this hotel on that day and heard nothing until now. It is a real pain on the backside.

The hotel was adequate for the price, and we could put up with the mould along the bath grout. However, the whole experience was made worse by our subsequently receiving a parking charge notice because we hadn't registered our vehicle number at reception. In every other hotel where this has been necessary, the reception staff have drawn our attention to it. Not here! The receptionist should bring this up as a matter of routine. There was no notice in the booking information, the signage is not sufficiently prominent, and we have appealed against the charge, but it is a source of anxiety and a waste of our time. Not good!

The big issue i have when staying at this hotel is the WI-FI which is a rip off.You have to pay a lot of Money for an average service and this is per item.So you have to pay for your phone and then separate for your tablet etc.RIP OFF😡. There is limited or no phone signal in your room ,depending on the provider. The other thing is if you chose to pay for breakfast separate then the very first thing the staff ask for is money.Everything in this hotel is all about money and not customer satusfaction.

on arrival i was informed that the bar and restaurant werent opening because there was not enough guests. I had to get a taxi to Prestwick and back to get something to eat which cost just over £25.

No phone signal in rooms, reception said had to pay for WiFi for 4 days then had a letter in room saying it was free as the open golf was on. Room not cleaned in 4 days and didn’t even empty bins. Breakfast went up in price by £3 because Open was on and had to walk through a load of people smoking and vaping to get back to hotel. No food available at 7pm after driving 7 hours to get to hotel but given no reason why, just said no one is able to cook today. Parking was dreadful with big work vans blocking only possible places you could park so parked on grass verges and then blocked in again. Shower was shocking as no pressure and looked 30 years old. They offer ‘weddings’ more suited for divorces. If it was cheap I would forgive some things but at over £430 for 4 nights was not acceptable. Don’t normally write reviews but so much wrong with this place.

Dining room not easy to find. Really hard bed and pillows. Lift filthy. Food good. Reception staff friendly and helpful.

Stay was fine since I had a car to access nearby restaurants and bars in Prestwick, but without available transport the catering and bar facilities are too limited.

As the Hotel is quite remote we expected to be able to relax in the bar on arrival (12.30pm)whilst waiting to check in at 4pm. Unfortunately only bar in a large hotel was in use for a wedding and closed to other guests. Our booking was for a twin room we were given a Double, on return to reception I was presented with another set of bedding which they expected me to change myself. Eventually we were allocated a different room. Overall the hotel served it's purpose and as a 3 star you can't expect too much, but a bar and the room we booked would have been a minimum.

Lovely building (main house, didn’t see inside annexe) but the usual Britannia routine of not cleaning/servicing rooms daily which I simply don’t understand. Restaurant (Jennie’s?) was never opened at any point and the hotel bar doesn’t open till 5pm. Bearing in mind the location is pretty rural there are no alternative facilities within miles. All in all I enjoyed my stay and it certainly is a unique venue which I would re-visit but I fear for the standard with Britannia running it - it certainly won’t improve

Wi-Fi is expensive

Very poor overall. Room doors slam shut. Shower/bath very dirty. Mixer shower ran freezing to boiling no in-between no matter how you adjusted it. Taps leaking in bath when shower on. Damage on ceiling above bath from a leak not repainted. No shampoo or conditioner. Dirty mark on bed cover. Curtain pole damaged. Curtain barely covers window. Only 1 of the 2 windows open. Mould on the window. Windows dirty. Staff speaking loudly outside at 7am. Kettle can only be plugged in on a table under the TV putting steam all over the TV. No bedside cabinets or bedside lights. Carpet dirty round the edges. Lots of items and dust dust down the back of the chest of drawers.

Food rubbish blowing about dustbin over flowing. Rubbish on all corridor carpets lift filthy dirty.

Rooms were clean but communal areas were dirty

Room cleanliness is very poor. Fan in bathroom has definitely never been cleaned. Bathroom in general was Windows and frames in the room were filthy.

Staff were excellent but…. Room was clean but Stairwells looked like they hadn’t seen a hoover for some time. Window in room needed replacing - condensated up within the pane No evening meal available so had to send out for a takeaway Looks like no real investment in ongoing refurbishment for some time

Old style country manor in a beautiful location and setting in the Ayrshire countryside. Staff very friendly and some of the public areas were beautiful (Grand Staircase a particular highlight) Breakfast buffet was also well worth the money, although the room was not the easiest to get to. BUT - the bedrooms need serious updating. Cleanliness was good but not great, floorboards creaked all over the place, bed was uncomfortable, bathroom had cracked tiles al over the place, one window was draughty and didn’t lock, and the bedroom in general felt like it was stuck in the 1980s. Such a shame and a stark contrast to the rest of the building. Would visit again just for the setting though.

The main room had mould, the bath cover had a large crack, mould in the bathroom, soap dish was rusty as was shower rail. Heavy dust on bathroom vent. Room door looked as if it had been broken into. Toilet didnt flush properly. Breakfast was poor. Bacon and sausages over cooked, potato scone wasnt cooked and raw. Coffee machine was leaking everywhere. On the whole a very unpleasant stay and expected more with the price we paid. If i had stayed and had to pay afterwards i wouldnt have paid.

Where to start. On driving up I wondered if I was at the right place. The 1970’s building doesn’t reflect Country House. Check in was OK but the parking arrangement is not something I have seen before. The room was quite drab with no quilt cover or mattress protector. There was signs of damp breaking through under the window. 50 per cent of the horizontal surfaces were dusty. The top of the wardrobe had obviously not been touched in a long time and there was an empty plastic container there. In the bathroom I was surprised to see a pampas suite. Last seen 25 years ago. The extractor fan vent was almost closed with fluff. It took a while for that to build up. The cistern lid was a different colour from the rest of the suite. There were items in the wardrobe left by a previous occupant. Perhaps I was unlucky as maybe other rooms are being refurbished. That still does not excuse the amount of dust everywhere. I wonder if Alex Polizzi would have stayed he night. On leaving the desk clerk pointed to a key drop box. No questions about my stay. I would definitely try somewhere else in future.

Good location, set in its own grounds. 24hr manned reception with friendly staff. Smart clean communal areas. Room was very warm, bed comfortable. Only issue was in the bathroom, behind taps was covered in mildew / mould which I was able to wipe some off so feel this is a cleaning issue rather than general wear and tear. Some mould on silicone around the bat, silicone seal had failed around the bath allowing water to run down the wall underneath the bath and would explain why the bath was springy whilst you stood and had a shower. Other than the bathroom issue I felt it was good value for money, would recommend/stay again.

Robert is very kind and helpful. All other staff is terrible. Rooms are very old and need proper maintenance. Mostly heaters and showers are broken.

Well, water pressure on 3rd floor is just inexistant. Ok to stay away night if nowhere else to go. Room is clean but that’s it.

The first room assigned was dated and beds were very poor. Our shower had 2 hot taps which made the shower unusable. After speaking with helpful staff member we were moved to what looked like a refurbished room which was much more comfortable. It was a shame we were not assigned this room to begin with as it dampened our stay.

Much improved since my last visit - room had been repainted, new furniture and beds, old dank bathroom converted to bright walk in shower room and new carpets and curtains - only downside was the 3 foot single beds have been swopped out for narrow 2 foot beds.

Friendly welcome on check in, directions to room and timings for breakfast advised. Room was fairly decent, nice bathroom, plenty of sockets, tv, hairdryer, iron and board. The bed wasn’t that comfortable and very squeaky. Breakfast - we only paid £5 extra for 2 breakfasts so didn’t expect much. The Garden room was a large room with plenty of tables available. There was a selection of hot and cold foods available but hot items weren’t that hot at 8.30am. Breakfast timings of 7-9am on a Sunday were also very early.

Arrived around 7pm. Check-in was straightforward. We wanted to eat straight away. We had to pay £15ea at reception and were given a token to hand in on entering the restaurant. The food was simple but perfectly edible. The restaurant felt more like a glorified canteen but it was fine. The lady on reception said a lot of people order food for delivery from Prestwick. We only ate at the hotel once due to other activities. We didn't have breakfast (£12) as we were on the road early every day. Neither did we make use if the bar. As it was a Brittania hotel we weren't expecting much in terms of accommodation. However, our room seemed to have been refurbished relatively recently and was in very good order. Decent tv. A fan was supplied as there's no air con. Beds would have looked nicer with headboards and a centre console table/shelf between the beds would have been useful for drinks etc. The duvet covers were twice the size of the duvet on put single beds which was a nuisance. The hotel is remote which needs bearing in mind if one doesn't have transport. All in all, it was fine for our trip and offered fair value for money.

Room was advertised as having aircon, it did not and my room was uncomfortably hot on arrival. Place was in general terrible condition, mattress was solid, grout was black with dirt, walls were all cracked, the sink drain was exposed so could have lost stuff down there. There was a flood light outside pointing at my room window which had light coming in around the curtains all night. There was some sort of function downstairs which I was not told about, from which the music was making my floors vibrate, as well as just being loud.

Price was excellent. Room was too hot.

Room very small. Not particularly clean, old fashioned decor. Shame as could be a great hotel with some updating. The dining room basic with basic food. All this would be ok for a 3 star hotel except we paid £90 for a night. Bar full of drunk folk and we were kept awake by the loud entertainment.

Heating on 24/7 in summer and tv didnt work

We checked in extremely late, but there was desk staff , and the process was very quick. We were only in the hotel to sleep as we had a wedding nearby. We were in the newer building which is functional and clean. The rooms in the original building though looked amazing. Wood panelling everywhere and a real stately home vibe. Our package didn't include breakfast. Parking was plentiful. When we check out a lovely lady (I didn't get her name) gave us some amazing recommendations. I would like to say thank you to her. She recommended Dean Castle in Kilmarnock. We spent a wonderful few hours there. Thank you so much for your advice

First hotels.com didn't confirm the changes with the hotel. Since already late night we only able to take a smaller room with an cot. Only one personnel was available that evening, and he was literally running out of breathe catching up with the guests and their requests. He only managed to send us the extra bed and pillow past 11pm. The management should have more personnel during rush hour checking in. The parking was supposed to be free but we were given a notice of

The hotel itself is a bit older in style but perfectly fine for a pre-flight stop over or for playing golf locally. In fact it was only 5 mins from Royal Troon and about 15 mins from Dundonald links. Parking was easy and outside the front door - made carrying golf equipment easy! We were allowed to order in Just Eat which was convenient, but lots of restaurants in Troon.

Robert on the reception desk was excellent.

Location and staff and pub were excellent. Busy British Open week filled the premises and the staff were kind, patient and most helpful. Pat even traveled to the industrial estate to get a sewing kit! Gordon, the GM and Lesley, head of everything else it seems, were a delight to get to know. We spent 5 nights there and even got a new tele installed. Of course, it’s the UK so there is not much on - railway journey to Wales sow was nice.

Terrible Experience – Would Not Recommend This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I booked a non-refundable family room through Expedia, and upon arrival at the hotel, I was told that all family rooms were unavailable. I was shocked—especially since this was a prepaid booking—and left scrambling to figure out alternative accommodations late at night. It felt like the hotel had overbooked, similar to what sometimes happens with airlines. This was the first time something like this happened to me in the UK with a prepaid reservation. In the end, we were forced to settle for a much smaller double room, which was clearly not suitable for a family. The hotel did offer us free breakfast as compensation, but honestly, it was not enough to make up for the stress and inconvenience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Even if you have a prepaid booking, I advise you to be cautious. Try to arrive early in case there are issues with your reservation so you have time to make other arrangements if needed. Always have a backup plan because this hotel may not honor your booking. Thank you, and I hope this helps others avoid the same experience.

A very good hotel & great friendly staff. A very quiet area, despite being very close the Prestwick Airport. The only issue is that if you follow the directions by Satnav it doesn’t get you to the Hotel as it’s not well sign posted.

A bit difficult to find. Postcode took me to a housing estate about a mile away from the property. Otherwise quite satisfied.

This hotel is NOT the standard expectation of a country house hotel. Part of the building is an old property with a more modern Annex e attached. The photographs are misleading. There is no restaurant, meals are served canteen style in a room more akin to a school dining hall. Kitchen staff shouting and swearing, food running out and what was available was very limited in choice and dehydrated. We booked an executive double room on half board for 2 nights. After the first day experience we went elsewhere for dinner and breakfast even though we had paid hotel for it. The bathroom had a leaking sink and toilet roll holder and towel holder coming off the wall, same with bath panel. Shower was over the bath but no non slip or bath mat and no grab rails making it hazardous to use. No toiletries apart from a tiny disc of soap. Room had a blind on window but no curtains so light wasn’t blocked out. No cushions on bed even though photo shows them. Wooden Bed frame had been repaired with screws where frame had been broken No daily housekeeping service. Rooms only serviced every 4 days according to receptionist. The only good thing about this hotel is the beautiful grounds, but would say avoid this hotel and definitely don’t buy half board.

Reasonable value for the price. However, the hotel clearly functions for coach parties. On our 2nd morning, with the coach groups having departed the day before, we came down to breakfast to find no staff around and no hot food. A member of staff came in to get themselves some toast, and on asking them about hot food they said they'd been told to offer a continental breakfast only, as there weren't many guests. We had paid £10 each for a 'full breakfast'. It was pretty astonishing, to do that with no communication with guests in advance. On complaining at reception, they did refund us the £20 we'd paid for breakfast. But it didn't make us feel very valued as guests.

We stayed for one night the room was clean and comfortable. The food was absolutely horrendous we got down to eat about 6.45 there was nothing left cold soup and frozen cheesecake would not recommend eating here.
