Kings Head Hotel

The Breakfast was included and was really excellent (good choices, fresh good quality ingredients, well presented etc.), and the free off-road parking at the rear was convenient. We stayed in the cottage which is nicely presented, and good value. The only minor issues were the tv remote didn’t work (probably just batteries), the bathroom is a bit tired (toilet hard to flush, mold around the bath), but the shower and overall facilities were good enough. Overall, a comfortable good value stay.

The hotel itself is a little dated and could do with updating however for the price you can't really complain. The staff are all lovely and very friendly and attentive. The food is really good, I recommend the steak, it was so tender. We took 2 dogs with us and they were made a fuss of too. This is our 2nd time there and we have booked again already for November.

Great little hotel in a fantastic location, nice rooms and the food was excellent. Full english along with a range of other options for breakfast and the restaurant menu offered something for everyones taste and dietry requirements. The chips were amazing, compliments to the chef.

We were made to feel very welcome from the second we walked in the door. Everything was explained to us, car parking, breakfast and where the bar was (very important lol) we were so pleased we picked this hotel. The food was great too.

Lovely stay in the cottage at the kings arms. The cottage was ideal for our stay for a couple and small dog. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely. I would definitely recommend and we will be returning. Location was ideal for visiting North Yorkshire. Thanks for a lovely stay. Caroline

We expected a typical four star stay. What we got was an average three star hotel. The breakfasts were good, the evening meals quite good but really just a pub menu. The room had a small amount of tea coffee sugar and one pack of biscuits when we arrived. We had to ask for extra on the first evening but expected them to be topped up during our daily room refresh. However those never happened! At all during our three night stay! So each day we had to find someone to ask for additional supplies. I don’t think having three hot drinks in our room is asking too much. We didn’t ask for biscuits so not sure if they would have been provided daily. The staff were generally helpful and friendly and doing their best but the hotel seemed understaffed with no evidence of anyone overseeing things and being in charge. Our room was quirky but that was ok. The bathroom was disappointing with a toilet seat that didn’t fit and a cold water tap with very poor pressure. The shower was good. We didn’t let any of these things spoil our break as we were out and about during the day and ate elsewhere on the last two nights.

Very pleasant stay, typical oldish pub accommodation, but room was clean and comfortable. Service was excellent, evening meal in restaurant was very good as was the breakfast.

Overall though this is a nice and friendly pub hotel and great value for money with the bonus of nice staff. The food in the pub was great and good value for money and the hotel breakfast was equally as nice. We would stay here again if in the area

Disgusting. Dirty. Unsafe. Owners are bullies. I had to call the police as they tried to throw my family out because I complained at the state of the kettle and lack of basic shower facilities. The landlord tried to break in. It was horrendous! See my review on trip advisor for full details- there wasn't enough characters in this box to leave the full horrendous, traumatic review.

The hotel was very clean with barman/manager most helpful and prompt in dealing with us on our arrival. He was serving customers at the bar but said that he would be with us in a couple of minutes, and he was true to his word as he took us up to our room and explained everything to us that we needed to know. We decided to have a drink and dine in the restaurant as the menu looked very good. We were not disappointed as the food and service were first class. As we were staying for two nights we had breakfast each morning in the hotel and it to was first class with an excellent choice and service. As we will probably dine at the Michelin star restaurant again we will certainly return to the Kings Head Hotel. Great food, great service and excellent value for money.

Comfy bed. Just the one pillow each. I know not everyone needs/wants two but the choice is always nice. Extremely low beam that demanded caution whenever moving in the room. Tired, old bathroom with peeling woodchip paper. Safe to say that the room we had wouldn't be the one fearured in listings. Adequate enough but not somewhere to head for if you're looking for and kind of special night away.

We stayed here on 2/12/24 for our anniversary, hotel was in the middle of a little village and quiet. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very welcoming especially at breakfast on the Sunday morning, the girl couldn’t do enough for us and was really helpful. Food was good, we thought it wouldn’t be that good for a free breakfast but we would have happily paid extra for it. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we are hoping to return in summer

Good value for money, quite a large space in the cottage. Could have been cleaner generally a tad tired, paintwork etc. The outside area needs maintenance. The service was ok and breakfast was good. Not a great deal to see/do in the village. Kettle exchanged due to limescale and strangley our room was entered, bin emptied but left on the drainer?? still confused as beds not made etc. Maybe an oversight. Ok and good value but not wow.

Room was at front, loud music from a few doors down till 11.30 pm and loud drunk people walking about outside till 1 am so very noisy. Breakfast very good.

Friendly staff bed comfy and room very warm shower not enough power but ok for 1 night stay breakfast fantastic x stayed New Year’s Eve and enjoyed our stay x only criticism no entertainment news year ended up going to white Swan and had a great night with the locals music and dancing x stayed for evening meal with yourself s and enjoyed it thankyou

Staff were excellent as was the location. The property itself is dated and in need of a makeover.

Check in was a very quick easy process, Accommodation was a little tired but absolutely fine for me, Breakfast was very good, staff can only be described as fantastic Thank you

Very friendly and welcoming on arrival. Nice to be known by staff it makes the stay so much more comfortable. It was nice to stay in the cottage as it gave us more freedom. This was really well appointed. Thankyou

My stay at Kings Head, Kirkbymoorside was just wonderful. The host and all the staff were friendly, helpful and did everything they possibly could to make my stay comfy and enjoyable. First class stuff!

The landlord went out of his way to be helpful

Great staff and food. As this is an old building you should expect some noise from street as single glazed, personally I always take ear plugs and eye mask with me (due to snoring partner). Personally I love quirky old building with uneven floors. Could benefit from either blackout blinds or curtains. Service was excellent.

1 night stay with my child. Room was quiet despite football being shown. Close to flamingo land resort. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent.

The hotel is good value for money very conveniently positioned. The breakfast was excellent with very friendly staff. As previous reviewers have said parts of the hotel could do with a bit of an upgrade but all things considered it was fine

Stayed here for the nights of 5th/6th Jan If expedia had not taken payment when we checked in would not have stayed second night. The bedroom is dated and the bed is the most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept in the mattress is so thin you can feel the springs. Restaurant. This is a room that's the main approach to the bar so people constantly walking through. Food. Please dont bother unless you want food poisoning, the first night we had prawn cocktail. Well i have never been served Lettice separate on the plate the shrimp was swimming in more mayonnaise than i have ever seen Note shrimp, pural, not prawns. The 10oz steak was the thinnest steak imaginable and at £22 don't bother, my wife ordered pan fried Salmon that when arrived was still raw in the Centre, sent back and came back on same plate so all the veg was cold.. Thinking we couldn't have bad meals two nights on the trot retried the second night. How wrong. The Steak and Ale pie i ordered certainly was not steak and had never seen Ale in its life. My wifes Cod fish cakes certainly wasn't cod and when cut where still FROZEN in the Centre, again sent back and reserved again on same plate with now stone cold chips and veg. All we got from management was its a new chef and still learning. Residents lounge taken over by locals on both nights the second with two couples with children using the furniture as climbing frames. Would we stay here again a big NO.
