The Anchor Bar Complex

This was an incredibly noisy place to stay. There were large groups of marauding drinkers outside smoking until the early hours of the morning and it was incredibly loud in our room with a constant smell of smoke.

Hotel is clean and has an onsite bar and onsite restaurant. Convenient to everything in town, just a few feet away. No view of the waterfront next door. if you just need a place close to the beach, this is acceptable, but NOT in hot weather. Hotel has no Air Cond. Room window was tiny, so even though it's 15 outside, it is unbearably hot at midnite in the room. Room also faced the main street, so lots of noise all night long - request a room not in the front of the hotel. Hotel staff leaves at 5pm and turns things over to the restaurant/bar staff. So out of the ordinary requests fall apart. No portable fans available. Why a hotel that is supposed to be this nice hasn't installed £100 ceiling fans is crazy to me. We got virtually no sleep and left exhausted. Grump old guy rating : thumbs down.
