Stayed 2 nights

Stayed for two nights with myself, my husband and three children (ages 0-4). The hotel itself is a beautiful old manor house, inside the decor is within keeping to this - dark woods and large pieces of furniture. Lovely grand staircase to the rooms (no lift, however staff are always happy to help if you require it) Our room had a lovely large bed and a sofa bed which became a good size double. The staff were also kind enough to provide a cot (without us asking). The room was large with kettle etc provided. Large ensuite with a shower and a bath. The room itself could do with updating or refreshing as there were little bits of wear and tear, however I found this added to the feel of the place as it's such a beautiful old building, I would hate to see it 'modernized'. Breakfast was a continental breakfast (toast, cereal, fruit. Yoghurts, meat and cheese). The main member of staff we dealt with was amazing, he provided fresh pastries, cut fruit etc anything we needed was never too much trouble. There is free parking on site and you are always greeted by a member of staff at the door regardless of time. We arrived late in the night, just before midnight, and we still had a friendly warm welcome.

Parking was easy and check in was non existent, no signature or details, bar name taken. Only one member of staff at one time seemed to be employed, (the lady we saw was, though, excellent.) Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a sorry affair which should not be advertised, toast and a few cereals was all that was available. Several guests took one look and said they were going to McDonald's. The room, the hotel itself were still decent but it just appears to be in its death throws with no interest or inclination to run it as a viable concern. A once great hotel now in rapid decline.

I had to cancel my booking which I did through Expedia . Then I kept getting phone calls and texts from a landline and a mobile number while I was out with my partner and friends . Found it very irritating especially as at the time I didn’t know who it was and all I got in the text messages was ring me back . Over 12 missed calls and texts
