Lovely stay in very central hotel. Dogs catered for with bed blanket and bowls in the room on arrival. Some areas could do with refreshing but the frienliness of the staff more than make up for a few flaws in decor. Would happily return. Ps thanks for the birthday balloons and banner.

We loved the room size and staying at front of hotel was fab. Dog loved his stay too! Staff very good, very helpful & friendly. We will definitely stay again, very reasonably priced too and we got continental breakfast free of charge! Joanne 💜

Stayed just for 1 night having stayed the same time last year. Staff were superb, friendly and welcoming, they acknowledged they remembered us! We noticed the small touches like the amenity kit in the room containing toothpaste, razor etc etc - just about anything you'd have forgotten! Lovely big bed, everything felt clean and loved in what's clearly an older property. Breakfast was continental, seems more choice with mini pastries added alongside cereals, breads for toasting, fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee and a pot brought to our table - it's possible to upgrade to a fry. Only issue we encountered wasn't the hotels fault - lots of noise from cars revving on the road and the pub downstairs - wasn't the easiest to sleep with a front facing room, but once we did we did well! A shout of thanks for calling me promptly to say I'd left my jacket!

The room was spotless and the staff were welcoming and helpful. There was a complimentary continental breakfast which was nice. The decor could probably do with updating, but this didn’t really affect my stay. This was a lovely hotel at a good price.

Arrived earlier than expected and we were greeted by friendly cheerful staff who checked to see if our room was ready. To our delight the room was ready and we were able to check in. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.The beds were great with really good mattresses.The continental breakfast was plentiful and really set us up for our journey home.The rooms are a bit outdated but they are clean and spacious and well worth the money paid. If you didnt bring your car there is a bus station and a taxi service located a short walk from the hotel which can be a real bonus at times. We thoroughly enjoyed are stay at The Donard Hotel and would definitely return.

Whilst the staff were excellent and the main areas and breakfast were pleasant, the room was disappointing and not as expected based on the website photos. We were shown bright, modern and airy rooms online but we were given a dated and dark one instead. The views outside are of flat roofs with dead plants and a broken aerial. Our bathroom had an avocado green suite with very old fixtures. It was very clean but came across as dingy. We slept well and the beds were comfortable. However, I would not have booked if the online content had been completely honest. It didn't feel like a treat. Tonight we are in a different guest house along the coast in Warrenpoint, at a similar price. It is head and shoulders above the Donard with a balcony and sea view. Sorry, I am just being honest. I feel bad because the staff were lovely.

The Donard is an older property that is well positioned on the main road in Newcastle. Very friendly and nice staff makes up for the older rooms that are not air conditioned and a bit noisy due to the cars, trucks and motorcycles going by on the road.

Its very well located and surprisingly quiet once your in the rooms the staff we dealt with kevin and Katie were very friendly and onliging kevin offered to help us with our luggage on two occasions the bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water in the bathroom the continental breakfast was good and its complimentary it has something for everyone a selection of cereals ,breads ,pastries and fruit etc

The Donard was such a wonderful stay. The room was a little dated compared to our other recent stays in Ireland, but the staff's friendliness and helpfulness made us feel so at home. We really loved the concierge staff and the warm and friendly Irish way of making us comfortable. The continental breakfast was a great start to the day. We would definitely book again!

The Donard Hotel in Newcastle fitted our needs for an overnight stay exactly - a centrally located hotel with good sized rooms, a very comfortable bed and very friendly and helpful staff. The team worked well together but a special shoutout to Kevin who went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. The town of Newcastle is an attractive seaside town but also an excellent starting point to climb Slieve Donard, Northern Ireland's highest mountain, which was the reason for our stay here. I am pleased to say we achieved our objective and rewarded ourselves with large ice cream sundaes from Morelli's wonderful establishment on the seafront.

The Donard is an older property that is well positioned on the main road in Newcastle. Very friendly and nice staff makes up for the older rooms that are not air conditioned and a bit noisy due to the cars, trucks and motorcycles going by on the road.

Stayed just for 1 night having stayed the same time last year. Staff were superb, friendly and welcoming, they acknowledged they remembered us! We noticed the small touches like the amenity kit in the room containing toothpaste, razor etc etc - just about anything you'd have forgotten! Lovely big bed, everything felt clean and loved in what's clearly an older property. Breakfast was continental, seems more choice with mini pastries added alongside cereals, breads for toasting, fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee and a pot brought to our table - it's possible to upgrade to a fry. Only issue we encountered wasn't the hotels fault - lots of noise from cars revving on the road and the pub downstairs - wasn't the easiest to sleep with a front facing room, but once we did we did well! A shout of thanks for calling me promptly to say I'd left my jacket!

The Donard Hotel in Newcastle fitted our needs for an overnight stay exactly - a centrally located hotel with good sized rooms, a very comfortable bed and very friendly and helpful staff. The team worked well together but a special shoutout to Kevin who went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. The town of Newcastle is an attractive seaside town but also an excellent starting point to climb Slieve Donard, Northern Ireland's highest mountain, which was the reason for our stay here. I am pleased to say we achieved our objective and rewarded ourselves with large ice cream sundaes from Morelli's wonderful establishment on the seafront.

Only small teeny weeny thing that only effected the male sex! The toilet seat did not stay up when needed, but sorted it with a piece of folded toilet paper jammed to keep it up, so no problem. the staff were brilliant and the continental breakfast was great. Nice quiet bedroom and comfy bed. We'll be back. Many thanks Donard staff.

Its very well located and surprisingly quiet once your in the rooms the staff we dealt with kevin and Katie were very friendly and onliging kevin offered to help us with our luggage on two occasions the bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water in the bathroom the continental breakfast was good and its complimentary it has something for everyone a selection of cereals ,breads ,pastries and fruit etc

The room was spotless and the staff were welcoming and helpful. There was a complimentary continental breakfast which was nice. The decor could probably do with updating, but this didn’t really affect my stay. This was a lovely hotel at a good price.

Arrived earlier than expected and we were greeted by friendly cheerful staff who checked to see if our room was ready. To our delight the room was ready and we were able to check in. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.The beds were great with really good mattresses.The continental breakfast was plentiful and really set us up for our journey home.The rooms are a bit outdated but they are clean and spacious and well worth the money paid. If you didnt bring your car there is a bus station and a taxi service located a short walk from the hotel which can be a real bonus at times. We thoroughly enjoyed are stay at The Donard Hotel and would definitely return.
