A rather strange experience - my booking included breakfast, but on arrival I was told this only included cereal and I was asked to pay an extra £5 to receive a better breakfast! However, the following morning, lovely, friendly and helpful Lesley provided a full breakfast without extra payment. Also, the central heating boiler was not switched on and so there was no hot water. The fact that I had specifically found and booked a room with a bath/shower combination turned out to be pointless, as I was unable to have either. Despite all this, the room was large and both it and the bathroom were spotlessly clean. It would have been nice to have blackout blinds or curtains as the room proved to be very light during the night, which meant I did not sleep well. Although I did not need it, the lift was out of action. I also found out that there were no staff in the property overnight. A somewhat disappointing stay.

Although I was the only resident at the hotel that night I was well catered for. I was disappointed the restaurant was closed but it must have been a quiet night. My breakfast was prepared and left for me and entry instructions to the hotel.

A lovely place, very popular / busy. Clean and modern. Reasonable cost. Lovely food. Husband had best steak ever. Would go again. Confusion on arrival as reception not open. Hotels.com site incorrectly states 'Front desk staff will meet you on arrival' - sign directed residents up stairs and round the back to the bar which was busy and the staff kept apologising until manager came to check us in. Needed complicated low level key code to get into hotel building. Hotels.com site incorrectly states breakfast included, but 'breakfast' just consisted of tea/coffee and cereals, not even a continental as no toast bread fresh fruit etc. Full English at the reasonable cost of £8. Very happy with hotel, but Hotels.com site needs correcting.

This is our second time staying here and cannot recommend it highly enough, it is super close to Beamish which is why we stayed. Rooms are lovely and clean, food is amazing big portions, the staff are super helpful and very friendly. Lovely seated area to the rear to enjoy drinks, Good parking also to rear of property. Would highly recommend.

We would like a full refund for our booking at this venue. When we arrived the onsite restaurant was closed down and the best the hotel could offer us was a bed but no food. We consequently had to book at a hotel down the road. We are very disappointed that there seemed to ha e been no way that The Moorings could have advised us of their difficulties. Unless we get a positive reponse to this we will never again be using Hotels.com.

The hotel was closed! We had a feeling it might be because we looked at the hotel and surrounding area on line shortly before we left. The hotel had put a message on to say they were closed for a few days, so we tried to check with yourselves that all was OK but got this automated reply - "Your reservation is confirmed. No need to call to reconfirm." When we tried to ring the hotel (we found a couple of telephone numbers) the calls wouldn't connect. We did go to The Moorings just after checking-in time, to see if it was the pub only that was closed, but everything was locked and chained!

Lovely clean room and very comfy bed. Plenty tea and coffee in the room and towels. We were in room 2 which has its own decking terrace. The main car park is at the back of the hotel and there are a couple of spaces at the front too but both sides have very close access. We had the full English breakfast both mornings which is not included in the booking price but worth every penny. It really set us up for the day. We're just home after a two night stay and have already booked again for our next visit. I would definitely recommend The Moorings.

Booked on the spur of the moment. Excellent price. Fabulous clean room. Large bathroom with corner bath and powerful shower. Lots of hot water, clean white fluffy towels. We upgraded to King size bed, patio doors to outside decked veranda. Fabulous in the warm weather. Next door to the pub and restaurant. Excellent food, good menu both evening meal and breakfast. Couples only at the moment. Well worth it. Would definitely stay again.

Shocked to find no one at reception, after climbing up and down a flight of stairs we eventually found someone in the restaurant to check us in and give us a key. The room was basic but clean. We were then told that there were barley any staff. So the room didn't get cleaned while we were there and we had to pay an extra £5 each per night for a cooked breakfast. When we went to the restaurant next morning and ordered our breakfast it was not very nice at all. We had eaten there the night before and that meal was lovely though. We appeared to be the only guests, while we were there we only saw 3 members of staff and they were all very nice and as helpful as they could be. I wouldn't stay there again though, although I have a feeling they may not stay open for much longer somehow.

We opted for the “cold” breakfast, not realising this was packaged items and “do it yourself porridge pots” left on a counter at the end of the corridor. No table in the room meant balancing on the bed or one chair to consume any of the unappetising items. We were booked for two nights, but the room was not serviced after the first night, so all of the packets from the “breakfast” used cups had not been removed. The bed remained unmade and the bathroom not cleaned. Some of the curtains were dangling and were very thin letting in the early morning light at mid June.

Incorrect Information About Breakfast: The hotel staff insisted that our booking did not include breakfast and gave us Room 6, despite my confirmation email from Hotels.com clearly stating FREE BREAKFAST AT ROOM 5 . 2. Lack of Tidiness : The room looks clean but shockingly, we found a female bra left in the room. 4. Very disturbed in my room (Room 6) : The toilet in bathroom occasionally made very loud noises, and the floor even shook. I can show you video to prove what I said is true.

A real find, we can't believe the great value for money offered here. The room was big, well laid out and equipped with a decent bathroom and even a provate area to sit outside. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious and the staff all friendly and helpful. Excellent!

We had a lovely spacious room which included a small sofa, so it was comfortable to return to in the evening and watch tv. The downside was the room was at the top of the building up two flights of stairs, so not good for people with limited mobility or heavy bags. The ensuite was very small but the shower was powerful and the towels of good quality. Just a 10 minute walk to centre of Harrogate and restaurants.

I booked this on the app for £70 including breakfast. When we got there I was charged £88 by an assistant and he said the owner/manager would call me about the charge. £70 for the room and £18 for breakfast. No call. I challenged them about it when we got back to the hotel and was told there was no breakfast without paying for it. No refund was offered. He said he would find out why the app said free breakfast and let me know in the morning. In the morning he wasn’t there. The breakfast was ok served by one guy. The place is comfortable but service etc is very amateurish. No check in person, no information about meal times or internet password. Everything closes at 10pm so don’t expect late nights. Room as good and clean and the bed comfortable but there was a grinding noise coming from somewhere all night which kept my wife awake.

Booked on the spur of the moment. Excellent price. Fabulous clean room. Large bathroom with corner bath and powerful shower. Lots of hot water, clean white fluffy towels. We upgraded to King size bed, patio doors to outside decked veranda. Fabulous in the warm weather. Next door to the pub and restaurant. Excellent food, good menu both evening meal and breakfast. Couples only at the moment. Well worth it. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely stay and clean and comfortable room at a very good price Just lacking in hosting When given the key we were shown to our room but no other information passed on or anything in the room we had to ask what time and where breakfast would be served Also when we went to breakfast ourselves and 4 other tables were sat in the restaurant waiting for 25 minutes before seeing or being acknowledged by a member of staff and being shown where the coffee was it was a shame as the cooked breakfast was delicious and lovely accommodation as I say just lacking in a host to welcome you

Tried to over charge us when arrived, price of evening meal wrong, over charged by twice tge amount, no one available to serve breakfast we had to phone someone when they did get here they told us breakfast would be another £8 infact it was inclusive in the room price, could go on the list is endless I'd just like to say I would never go back and definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The rooms are similar in quality to those in chain hotels but what makes it special is that it is family owned and run and their attention to their guests is outstanding. I cannot speak too highly of Lesley with whom we had most contact during our stay. I booked this on the app for £70 including breakfast. When we got there I was charged £88 by an assistant and he said the owner/manager would call me about the charge. £70 for the room and £18 for breakfast. No call. I challenged them about it when we got back to the hotel and was told there was no breakfast without paying for it. No refund was offered. He said he would find out why the app said free breakfast and let me know in the morning. In the morning he wasn’t there. The breakfast was ok served by one guy. The place is comfortable but service etc is very amateurish. No check in person, no information about meal times or internet password. Everything closes at 10pm so don’t expect late nights. Room as good and clean and the bed comfortable but there was a grinding noise coming from somewhere all night which kept my wife awake.

I called in the week asking if I could get an early breakfast as I was running GNR , they couldn’t open early but went out and bought me the breakfast items I’d mentioned specially. We booked into the mooring hotel for a couple of days.The place was perfect as we were going to beamish museum . From the moment we booked in the owners and staff were so friendly they couldn’t do enough for you . The accommodation was perfect exactly what we wanted. We had our own outdoor space .We went to the restaurant for evening meal and the food was delicious and large portions as well.Breakfast was great as well cold and hot food cooked when ordered. The owners were lovely were never to busy for a chat . We will definitely be back and bringing my elderly parents along with us to. Thank you very much for a very enjoyable stay from Denise and Stewart Anderson from methven in Perthshire

This is our second time staying here and cannot recommend it highly enough, it is super close to Beamish which is why we stayed. Rooms are lovely and clean, food is amazing big portions, the staff are super helpful and very friendly. Lovely seated area to the rear to enjoy drinks, Good parking also to rear of property. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for two nights and hadn't realised the accommodation next to the pub had only recently reopened. There were a few very minor things which needed attention, but were fixed promptly by the staff. The room benefitted from a "two person" bath, which was great for soaking our travel pains away with a glass of wine. From there, we visited the excellent Beamish Museum, a marvellous working museum which needs at least two days to see. Meals were really good with very generously priced breakfasts and attentive service.

An overnight stop following a long day at Beamish Museum. The Moorings provided all that we needed close by before a long journey home next day. The restaurant staff were excellent, recommending excellent food that was good value for money.

The food at breakfast was absolutely delicious,I had fruit to start and there was a large amount to chose from, there was unlimited tea and coffee staff brought my food to the pub part as I was unable to climb the stairs due to my disability, Evening meal was delicious I had chicken fajitas with everything on the plate to add to the meal I Also ordered proper chips which were delicious. The Bed was really really lovely and comfortable and the room was beautiful The staff couldn’t do enough for me and they were all polite and friendly and' I really loved my time at the moorings.

Excellent, only negative comment is that the included continental breakfast was just a bowl of cereal. Cooked breakfast was available at £8 extra but this was not served until 9.30am. We were quite happy with the cereal, but others may not be. The bistro restaurant is excellent and good value for money

Lovely clean room and very comfy bed. Plenty tea and coffee in the room and towels. We were in room 2 which has its own decking terrace. The main car park is at the back of the hotel and there are a couple of spaces at the front too but both sides have very close access. We had the full English breakfast both mornings which is not included in the booking price but worth every penny. It really set us up for the day. We're just home after a two night stay and have already booked again for our next visit. I would definitely recommend The Moorings.
