Beautiful traditional building, rooms are large and well equipped, bath/shower within the room will not suit everyone but this is evident when booking. Worth noting that the building is next to an operational railway line, with regular passenger and goods trains passing during the night so earplugs required if you are a light sleeper. Otherwise, good value for money and would recommend.

Stayed here for 3 nights as a solo female traveller. Didn't feel unsafe here at any point. The facilities are lovely and clean. The room had high ceilings and a spa which was nice. The location is great - walkable distance to the CBD. There's also a pub directly across the road which has really affordable and generous steak dinners that's definitely worth trying if you stay here. I personally found that the sound of the trains themselves wasn't that much of an issue. It was more so that you can definitely hear the train's horn go off at cars crossing the tracks (as there's no boom gates) so beware if you're a light sleeper. Of course this is at no fault of the hotel and they do provide earplugs in the room. Overall, great stay and definitely would recommend staying here if you're visiting Rocky.

Neat hotel in a heritage building. Parking is free and located directly behind the hotel. Clear instructions for after hours check in with no issues. Made a great night stop on our drive down the east coast!

There were cockroaches all over the tea and coffee making facilities, which I have video evidence of. It was like something out of a horror movie. Also, the windows didn't open, and the room badly needed airing out as it had a gross, musty smell.

Lovely room but very dusty. Booked a room with a spa but did not use it as fitting were quite worn and a ball of hair was blocking the drain. Strong smell of dampness in the toilet.

Absolutely beautiful place, love the vintage look and feel. Stunning grounds and rooms. Like a step back in time but also beautifully clean and tidy! The friendliest staff! Will definitely be back again! *wanted to note they do take a $100 security deposit upon arrival. I didnt see it anywhere in prebooking stages but know its completely normal for most places to do this. Just for people that may not know, to expect it and budget for it as well if needed.

The place was just wierd, the floor was crooked and so uneven that they to put one side of the bed on slats, it looked nice but sadly the toilet area was dirty, and when you closed the door it was filthy, there were long back hairs everywhere as well.

The room smelled musty/mouldy. The car park was not well lit and did not have any security. The room had ear plugs but the trains were so loud that even they didn’t help. Not to mention the “security” fee takes around 7 days to go back to your account. The bed was soft though, and the water pressure in the shower was lovely. The wall-less bathroom was an experience.

Great heritage space. Old building so old building noises such as people over on timber floor. Three trains through the night as tracks close by. Huge bed but no support, very soft and uncomfortable.

From the 20 foot high ceiling, the corner spa bath, to the massive king size bed that was super comfortable the stay was amazing. Had a chat with the lovely staff on the way out and they were salt of the earth delightful. The room was clean and welcoming. The tv was an older style but that was the only super minor thing that I could say if I was being super picky. I will stay here again. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Fabulous room. A little unusual in that the spa bath and shower are actually in the bedroom. Railway line right opposite our room didn’t really bother us but it might disturb light sleepers.

Beautiful historic building and very friendly welcome. Being right on the train line is off putting at first but the traffic appeared to stop overnight. Unfortunately the room was somewhat neglected with a missing smoke detector, broken towel rail and frosted over freezer. Also the bed although huge was showing its age with a sagging mattress on the right side.

I booked 5 nights at Denison Boutique Hotel but had to leave after 3 due to a terrible experience. The room had a persistent dripping shower tap right next to the bed, making it impossible to sleep. I reported it immediately and was told the hotel was already aware of the issue but couldn’t fix it or offer a new room. The manager was dismissive and unhelpful, telling me to “suck it up” and repeatedly suggesting I could leave if I wasn’t happy — without a refund. Despite eventually sending a tradie, the issue remained. The manager was rude, confrontational, and unprofessional in front of my child while she finally offered a room exchange. The facilities were run-down and the room lock was nearly broken. My daughter and I felt unsafe and unwelcome, so we checked out early and forfeited two nights’ payment. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had in Australia. Absolutely not recommended.

Historic old building however needing renovation and upkeep. Bed so old and worn it was unpleasant to sleep, ended up with sore back. Complained to staff who said they would consult management and respond. No response in the four days we stayed. Had to pay in advance with no refund probably because of complaints and the possibility of disputes with customers. I was aware of several others who had complained and had been fobbed off. Property is next to railway and had 5 freight trains run all Saturday night, could not get to sleep. Very limited staff on site, only between 9.00am and around 1.30pm. No room clean for the four days we stayed with other members of our Car Club. Bins were over filled, could not replace used towels, etc. Could not recommend for a stay.

Highly recommend this beautiful accommodation, the bed in my room was incredibly comfortable, gorgeously decorated and felt very spoilt with all the finishing touches and extras. After a long drive, the spa in the room was a very welcomed bonus! Great friendly service, easy check-in procedure. Thank you!

Asked for instructions via message first time - no reaction. Followed up - no reaction. Then had to call and ask. Being finally in the room, toilet paper was nearly used up. Extremely loud, feels like the train goes straight through your room.

Absolutely lovely room, delightful ambience BUT the outside noise from the hotel across the road, with doof doof music until midnight was dreadful. The hotel thoughtfully provided ear plugs, but they don’t stop the vibrations from doof doof! Avoid Saturday night if you can.

This hotel is awesome. Restored to original with modern conveniences. It it stunningly beautiful, the rooms are comfortable with large 4-poster beds, lounges, spa baths, air con, block-out drapes, etc. the location is awesome, walking distance to the river, Main Street cafes and shops, the Great Western Pub, etc. loved our time at this hotel.

Absolutely exquisite room—by far the best night we've had on our roadtrip from Sydney to Cairns. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and the corner spa tub was absolute heaven. The property is quite lovely with its old world charm, the only downside is it is literally next to the trainyard, however my husband and I still slept like the dead because the 4 poster bed was that comfortable. The Continental breakfast add on is a wee bit sad, so I would skip that for a bite to eat up the road.

I loved the heritage building and the grand opulent room. We had a warm wecome and good advice about eating out. Oldy world reception doubled as a breakfast room which comprised a contintal spread at around AUD12. No lift. No "view" but a short walk to the beautiful riverside. And surprisingly quiet.

We booked a lovely room for one night on our week long road trip from Brisbane to Airlie Beach. The room was exactly what we expected, really quaint and ideal for one night. We asked the receptionist if she could recommend anywhere nearby to have a great steak and were recommended to the Great Western, directly opposite the hotel, which was very lively and served fantastic food. As an added bonus, as we were able to walk to the restaurant, I was able to have a drink with my meal.

Lovely room, spa bath and as wonderful. Didn’t see staff as key is a drop box, personally I prefer to collect my room key from a human. Would have liked a breakfast option (previously stayed when there was a breakfast option). Still very comfortable and will stay again when next working on the region.
