The hotel was quiet, very clean and the rooms were spacious with beautiful views. There was a nice clean pool and jacuzzi indoor, but open to the outdoors with a scenic view. Also, having a spa in the hotel was a plus- nothing like being able to get a nice massage after a day of hiking! .

Everything was great at Red Sands. The check-in probably took less than 90 seconds. The staff were wonderful. The lobby area is beautiful with great views out the back through large windows. We took advantage of the outdoor areas. We didn't use the pool area but it looked nice. It was a short drive to restaurants and a general store and bakery where we resupplied for our trip. We didn't eat in the hotel's restaurant becayse we weren't hungry so I can't comment on it. The hotel has a self-serve laundry with 2 washers and 2 dryers which I used and they worked perfectly. There's a change machine in the laundry as well as vending with laundry soap and dryer sheets. We enjoyed the self-serve coffee bar in the lobby with coffees, teas and hot chocolate. The lobby is a cozy place to hang out and you can't beat the view from the patio. Our room was comfortable and we slept well. I highly recommend Red Sands.

Dakota at Front Desk was awesome! Property is one of the best in the area. They serve Apples, Oranges, Tea, Coffee and Oatmeal all day in the front. Room was great. Only downside was that the hot tub was not working. The pool is heated.

Hotel is in overall good repair. AC worked great, bed was comfortable, pillows were not great. Common spaces were all clean and modern. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only major disappointment was that the hot tub was broken. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone looking for reliable place to stay at a fair price.

Pro: Front desk was especially nice and as they put it they cranked the heat on the pool -the hot tub was broken and they offered 1/2 price on the private soak in their spa area. Nice fresh fruit and coffee in the morning. Cons: The fire pit area was a bit small. We stayed in Room #110 and you could hear the ice maker pretty loud. Might not be the best spot for a light sleeper. The refrigerator temperature was not cold enough. Despite my complaints, I would stay here again. These are things to be aware of, not deal breakers.

Property is very old and run down. The toilet was stained and scary looking. Mattress covers were stained. There had been snow that was there from before our stay and nobody ever tried cleaning it so after being stepped on so many time it was icy an extreme hazard. The food was awful at the hotel’s restaurant and expensive. The pool water was dirty and the hot tub jets didn’t work. I would rather camp then stay there again

The hotel itself was okay, I think it has been recently updated. My only issue was my sink had white splatters all over it like toothpaste from the previous guest. I was with a group of friends, and no one else had a sink that looked like this. I was only there for one night. Housekeeping needs to step it up a little.

Enjoyed our stay at Red Sands. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for easy access to Capitol Reef. The room was clean and well equipped. Loved the pretty view behind the hotel in the morning. We were very happy with our stay.

“Elite” room is a “Cathedral” room on the hotel website which is a newer or perhaps updated, larger room in the newer wing over the restaurant. Very nice, clean, great storage for luggage and clothes, nice size refrigerator, comfy bed. Small bathroom but adequate storage below vessel sink and walk in shower. Very good breakfast and staff in restaurant. Slight negative- shower has 2 built in benches, one on each side taking up too much floor space, and the quiet location I requested ended up being noisy from adjacency to the parking lot around the corner of my room with motorcycles and vehicles revving from 10-11pm and early morning. Overall was very positive other than that. Ask for room in new wing on upper floor away from parking lot.

Staff were super helpful and friendly, loved the restaurant, dinner and breakfast options great. The coffee and tea bar in the lobby were well stocked. The hot tub was broken which is why 3 stars. The bathroom was newly renovated, beautiful job, overall great stay!

The advertisement specified a steak house on site, A fire pit, A bar, and A accessible spa. None of this was the case. Also, specified a handicap accessible room, and it was 100% not an accessible room even despite verification with the gentleman who checked us in. Not worth the stay at all. Staff were acted as if they were burdened to be asked a question. Worst hotel of our 11 night Utah road trip.

Started off poorly at reception. There was no one to check us in... except at a "Zoom" style console. The connection was awful, I couldn't understand what was being said because of constant lag and static. The person was trying to be nice enough, but was also incredibly loud. It was blaring throughout the lobby, which isn't the best for your personal information, etc. They simply have to have a dedicated front desk clerk, even in off-season months. Later on there were occasionally people at the front desk, but it wasn't immediately clear if they were employees or not? They may work at the adjoining spa, but they weren't overly friendly, seemed put-out by any request, and didn't seem to actually be working. The entire place gave off very weird vibes. There are not many options near Capitol Reef NP... but this place simply has to do better. I'm not too picky, but I wouldn't return.

While overall the hotel was nice, it unfortunately only takes one situation. I was asleep in bed with my dog, whom i paid for ($50). At 10:30pm our room was accessed and a staff member walked intobthe room unannounced. As my dog and I were both startled and on edge, a nice relaxing evening was not what we received.

best property is beautiful, but the service was very disappointing.This property had a check-in kiosk at 8:00 p.m. in the front desk area (Even though it says the front desk is open until 10:00 p.m.). The individual on the video on the kiosk was unable to find my reservation, and unable to contact the on-site front desk staff for over 40 minutes. We had asked for a rollaway which was not in the room and once received we did not have a pillow. They were not enough towels in the room either. Because the front desk was not staffed we had to go to our vehicle to get our own pillows and towels since we were on road trip and had those with us. The facility itself is beautiful, I was very disappointed in the staff and that there was no mention of the hot tub being closed for the past several weeks. Not sure if I would return.

Red Sands had a super friendly staff, clean and modern rooms and the property around the building was landscaped nicely. It also had a nice 24 hour coffee bar and tons of information on Capital Reef NP, which we were there to see. It was just a quick drive to get to the park and Dakotah, the clerk who checked us in, recommended a few hikes. We would absolutely stay here again!

Red Sands has been modernized since my last stay and is better for it. However, there is more competition in Torrey for higher end accommodation. The big let-down at Red Sands was the paid breakfast. It was expensive at around $25 each and we both rated it as poor. We were both served a large portion of hash browns that were running in oil, not crispy and it was inedible. Not what I expect for $25.

The property was very nice and the service was great, and the room was comfortable and quiet. The listing, the emails, and lit sign out front said the restaurant was open for dinner; it was closed. Evidently that was just as well as my wife described the breakfast next morning with oil soaked soggy hash browns as dreadful, inedible and possibly the worst she's had in fifty years.

Nice, clean hotel. Room was large, well furnished, and well equipped. The only negative was the restaurant where the service was terrible. Took 15 minutes to be seated and then another 15 minutes before a server came by. That server spoke little English and never returned. Also a very limited menu.

Very nice hotel in Torrey, great after a long day of hiking in Capitol Reef. Restaurant was good, service was excellent with our favorite intern who was working for both dinner and breakfast. A little bit of noise and all of the Roads Scholar travelers used up all the ice so none was left for other guests. Overall a solid B+ grade.
