Our room overlooking the river was immaculate. The hotel receptionist, Laura, was very welcoming and helpful. We were too late to get a hotel parking space but as it was Sunday the following day there was no problem parking on the road. Public areas a little bit tired but breakfast was plentiful and in the the very fine Adams Room.

Two-night stay in April, Peebles is a small town and the Tontine is centrally located with ~10 parking spaces behind it. The staff was very friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and assistance with have some laundry done overnight. The included breakfast was excellent and filling. Would stay there again.

Overnight as a couple. Dinner bed and breakfast £185. Check in was good apart from parking. Sorted in the end. Room looked lovely and had a smashing view that you could see when lying in bed. Room itself was very very hot, we had a fan on all night, which was in the cupboard, so someone else must have complained about it. Shower and bath. Dinner was lovely. Steak cooked to perfection. Again breakfast was smashing although we had booked for 9am and arrived at 5 past to be told we were late and should have been there at 8.45. Would stay again.

For anyone who values old fashioned traditions of politeness and friendly service coupled with excellent food at sensible prices; a large roomy lounge with comfortable seating and perfectly adequate bedrooms, then this hotel is the one to choose. It is a Grade 1 Listed Building of historical importance, with a rare Adam fireplace and surround in the dining room. Its a shame that the Planning department are so restrictive and short sighted about repairs to external window frames.

Solo traveller staying for one night only. Only had the breakfast, of which there was a good selection of fruit, cereals, yoghurt etc. They also come round to take your order for hot food when seated and I have to say that was really good. Staff are young and very professional in their approach, appearance and manner. Beds nice and comfortable. Room was very clean, although the shower could do with upgrading. But, hey, warm water came out of it, so you could wash up 😉

Such lovely, helpful staff. The surroundings were very comfortable, the food was first class. It’s evident it really is ‘Team Tontine’ with everyone working well together. The service in the restaurant was of a high standard, the tables are nicely spaced and the standard of cleanliness was exemplary. We were aware that dogs were catered for and those we encountered during our stay were very well behaved!

Location of hotel is central to Peebles town centre with free car parking to rear. The hotel is looking worn and in need of a refresh, throughout the hotel carpets need cleaning or replaced. Room (2) is also worn carpets and ceiling looks like water damage in one corner, bathroom ok but unable to close door as door frame tight

Overnight stay with B&B. Lovely hotel right in the centre of Peebles. Rooms are clean and spacious and we had a great view of the Main Street. Good choice at breakfast and food was delicious. Exceptional customer service, staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Highly recommended and would definitely return.

Very comfortable stay in single room. Spacious bathroom and great view over the river. Breakfast was OK but could do with bigger selection of continental items eg cold meat, cheese. Also orange juice was a bit watery.

Great place. Shower was a bit sketchy but the corridor to get to the room was funny. Liked the bed, tv and the breakfast would bave been awesome bht we were in a rush and only got the quick continental bar.

Poor welcome. Despite being told on 4 days earlier that our 3 rooms would be prioritised by Housekeeping so that we could check-in at 1pm instead of 4pm, there was no record and the receptionist doubted what I was saying. She then announced that there was a charge of £10 per room if we were allowed early access. I then received a phone call an hour later to say that we could indeed gain early access with no additional charge. Too late I’m afraid and a poor start.

The one word for this hotel is “impeccable “. The facilities are great and the food is excellent. None of the usual tepid buffet here! Everything is freshly cooked. Ten out of ten for everything. This is the first time I have ever given such a good review, and they deserve it.
