The hotel has a large car park. The rooms were clean and warm. The hotel was taylored more for eating. The meals were excellent and the bar closed early after meals were finished. There were no casual bar customers. Pleanty of bars close by. The area was very safe and comfortable to walk around at any time..Nice friendly staff.

Centrally located hotel in Melrose with own car park. Staff were exceptional and the food was very good. The room was on the second floor but with no lift could be difficult if less able. There was no view from the room and the shower was over the bath. Bed was comfortable and large in this executive room with king bed.

The food in the Bistro Bar was very tasty. The beds were comfortable and the room was a good size. A request to change the bed configuration was dealt with swiftly. Some of the breakfast serving staff need training on how to listen. The breakfast was delicious. Try the full Scottish if you dare!

Great little hotel in the lovely village of Melrose. The food at the restaurant/pub was excellent and there was a cozy fire buring away. I booked a single accomodation and the room was on the smaller size but perfect for my needs.

The bar food was excellent, hot, tasty and reasonably priced. The lunchtime bar food was excellent as was the service from the young man in charge. The evening meal was also delicious, however, we ordered a drink and it never arrived, I had to ask twice again! Breakfast was the same, excellent food, poor service and having to ask twice for orange juice. At checkout we had to wait almost fifteen minutes for someone to appear, eventually I had to go and seek out a staff member. I was less than happy at the explanation received for the absence. Surely the reception should be covered when checkouts are taking place. When I voiced an opinion regarding the poor service both staff members became very defensive and were reluctant to take my points on board. Overall, poor service from some but still a very clean Hotel with good food and decent parking.

Everything was good at the hotel, the facilities in the room, nice tea tray, spotless bathroom good shower with easy temperature and flow controls (no problem with wet hands), bed really comfortable. Dinner and breakfast excellent quality food, plenty of choice and service efficient. All staff encountered were courteous and attentive.

The food is first class; the staff friendly and the room clean abd comfortable. B&B rate is a little higher than comparable hotels. Obviously you can expect traffic noise if you are at the front of the hotel being in the market square facing a road but we were woken very early by delivery men playing very loud rhythmic dance music from their lorry cabs. Hotel manager needs to speak with regular drivers about respect for sleeping guests. Lorry noise ok but NOT loud music.

The hotel was very convenient on the square but , unfortunately , Saturday night was noisy with exuberant youngsters having a great time revving cars and shouting ., The staff were lovely and did their best to help and please . However, the restaurant was very much in need of more staff . One overworked waitress ( who was excellent) on our first night , and the same lovely lady with a bit of help on the second wasn’t enough to give the lovely food and higher prices the 5 stars they deserved. The decor in the bedroom was very dull - khaki walls and buff coloured carpet needed brightening up a little - but that is nitpicking ! The bed was large and comfy with spotless sheets and duvet etc. Plenty of towels in the bathroom but toiletries in short supply - no shower cap , and only one small shower gel and one small shampoo for the two of us for 2 nights . The bathroom was large but really needed refurbishing as taps, tiles and shower were somewhat outdated. Breakfast was excellent and served piping hot by pleasant waitresses - none of the usual buffet stuff ! All in all a good place to stay but a few alterations could make it excellent all round.

Burts Hotel is right in the middle of Melrose and with dedicated parking is an excellent choice. Although on the main road, it's not that noisy and doesn't disturb during the night. There is very little disabled parking available in Melrose, so speak to the manager if close access is required. The food was lovely both at breakfast and evening meal, although for a pub/restaurant it was overpriced. It does book up very quickly, so reservations needed, but there are lots of other places around for all budgets. The room was a decent size, but the drawers in the units smelt very musty inside, so we didn't use them. The wardrobe though had plenty of storage. The room did look dated but that was only on the surface. The bathroom was modern with nice tiling and a good shower. Unfortunately there wasn't sufficient toiletries for two people, but you can always ask the staff. The wifi though was very poor so we used data. Overall a lovely stay, and I would go back there again.

The hotel was very convenient on the square but , unfortunately , Saturday night was noisy with exuberant youngsters having a great time revving cars and shouting ., The staff were lovely and did their best to help and please . However, the restaurant was very much in need of more staff . One overworked waitress ( who was excellent) on our first night , and the same lovely lady with a bit of help on the second wasn’t enough to give the lovely food and higher prices the 5 stars they deserved. The decor in the bedroom was very dull - khaki walls and buff coloured carpet needed brightening up a little - but that is nitpicking ! The bed was large and comfy with spotless sheets and duvet etc. Plenty of towels in the bathroom but toiletries in short supply - no shower cap , and only one small shower gel and one small shampoo for the two of us for 2 nights . The bathroom was large but really needed refurbishing as taps, tiles and shower were somewhat outdated. Breakfast was excellent and served piping hot by pleasant waitresses - none of the usual buffet stuff ! All in all a good place to stay but a few alterations could make it excellent all round.

We stayed at Burt’s the night before commencing our long distance walk along St Cuthbert’s Way. Upon our arrival we were greeted incredibly warmly. My suitcase was carried up to our room - which was very much appreciated. We enjoyed a tasty evening meal & hearty breakfast which ensured an excellent start to our hike. The team were attentive & nothing was too much trouble. I’d recommend Burts to anyone & would happily stay again. Thank you team Burt’s for a lovely nights stay!

Great little hotel in the lovely village of Melrose. The food at the restaurant/pub was excellent and there was a cozy fire buring away. I booked a single accomodation and the room was on the smaller size but perfect for my needs.

The hotel has a large car park. The rooms were clean and warm. The hotel was taylored more for eating. The meals were excellent and the bar closed early after meals were finished. There were no casual bar customers. Pleanty of bars close by. The area was very safe and comfortable to walk around at any time..Nice friendly staff.

Burts Hotel is a very nice traditional hotel in the lovely town of Melrose. A bit old fashioned but nothing wrong with that. The menu is a bit limited but the food on offer is good. All in all, very strongly recommended.

Burts Hotel is right in the middle of Melrose and with dedicated parking is an excellent choice. Although on the main road, it's not that noisy and doesn't disturb during the night. There is very little disabled parking available in Melrose, so speak to the manager if close access is required. The food was lovely both at breakfast and evening meal, although for a pub/restaurant it was overpriced. It does book up very quickly, so reservations needed, but there are lots of other places around for all budgets. The room was a decent size, but the drawers in the units smelt very musty inside, so we didn't use them. The wardrobe though had plenty of storage. The room did look dated but that was only on the surface. The bathroom was modern with nice tiling and a good shower. Unfortunately there wasn't sufficient toiletries for two people, but you can always ask the staff. The wifi though was very poor so we used data. Overall a lovely stay, and I would go back there again.

A really well run hotel and a pleasure to stay in. We overnighted on our way back from a tour in Scotland and were very impressed it outshone other hotels on our trip and was great value for money. The food offerings were really good too. We will definitely return.

Disappointing: the Ship Inn across the street was a far more welcoming establishment, buoyant, full of character…and cheaper too. Room 19 is very small. Breakfast starts at 8am, which is too late, and lazy , in my opinion.
