Everything was great far as facilities other than hot tub being cold. Room was great. Staff were late to bring breakfast, just inconvenient when trying to get the most out of your trip! Other than that the authors is a quiet, neat place.

Quaint place with friendly staff. Great location, we walked to downtown, which was less than a mile. Parking is available on side street. Interesting fact to have the spa/ hot tub (not what we thought it was a small pool) running given the plus 90F temperature, nevertheless the courtyard provided a very relaxing atmosphere. And that is what we did. We would have stayed another night, if we hadn’t had reservations in another place. But we would definitely choose this place again, when we come back to Key West.

Wonderful little slice of island paradise! The small cottage and property were nice, cozy, and a great price. Nothing fancy or brand new. We stayed in the Williams cottage and loved our own, private porch and a place to cook if we wanted to make our own meals. The property grounds were tropical with lush plants and landscaping and small pool. The property had breakfast in the morning, which was nice to have a quick bite. There was also ice with filtered water available near the office, providing convenience and keeping us hydrated without having to use a lot of water bottles. We would recommend if you’re looking for a cozy, reasonably priced space that provides a quiet, private space.

Cute little resort that’s not too far from all the action of duval street. Could walk but not in the hot summer. Cheap fast uber ride if needed. Room was spacious and clean. Some of the furniture is outdated and the pool is a bit small. Otherwise great stay!

We booked for the location, which was walkable to the old-town area of Key West. The room/suite itself was pretty dated and the shower was tiny, but everything worked. The "pool" was very small and seemed to actually be a hot tub. The complimentary breakfast was helpful, and the desk staff was nice.

Service was awesome the lady in the front desk amazing. Well located property within walkable distance to the main attractions . Great breakfast . The only thing I did not like was the sheet and pillowcase were stained with something dark. And the space in the sink by the bathroom was very limited. Other wise great place

I had roaches is my room I paid most night close to 400 dollar per night. They did spray once I notified them but should have never been a thing. If it was not for the fact I could not find another place to stay last min I would have left!!!!! Hotel.com had this labeled as wonderful a whole lie!!!! Beware!!!!

Very clean & beautiful property. Definitely recommended. We had a great time. Very helpful staff who explained everything about the Key West major sight seeing spots. Breakfast was great too.

The girl in reception was very nice and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was nice. I have back problem so for my own personal preference I would wish the bed was more hard/solid, so I was little afraid I would get problem, but all went fine so I was more then happy about my stay. For me it was in my price budget and the main thing for me is that room and bathroom is clean/fresh and it was

We stayed in the “Library.” The room was clean and spacious. However, it never is truly dark because of shutter blinds and no curtains. When the outside motion light came on due to a pedestrian, it woke us up. Even worse was the lack of soundproofing. I could hear someone open a can of soda in the room next to us. We could hear every single car. And worst of all, the rooster that crowed from 2:30-5:30 and beyond each day sounded like it was right outside the window. Something needs to be changed about the soundproofing of the rooms to make them better. Lastly, there was no silverware in the room and with the office being closed early in the evening, that was super inconvenient. If we ever return to Key West, we’d stay somewhere else.

No WiFi connection in the room. I asked the front desk, the guy said he couldn’t fix it. There was almost no water (very small stream) from the faucet in the bathroom.
Breakfast started too late (8:30am). We had to leave early in the morning and asked the office if we could pick up our breakfast and go, he refused. The size of the swimming pool is like hot tub. Found several small bugs on the night table.

Property was cute and unique in a quiet neighborhood. It was located quite far from Duval St but still walkable. We chose the smaller room eith Queen bed. It was wuite small. Barely able to move around the bed. Nice mini fridge. Bathroom had no electical outlets. Had to dry hair in room. It would have been ok if there had been a mirror on the wall.

Nice quant place off the beaten path. Quiet neighborhood with a 20 min walk to Duval. Room was very small with a bed and 2 dressers. No chairs except for the 2 on the patio outside the door. Room was clean and was fine for 2 nights. Breakfast was sufficient- nothing fancy but plenty to eat if you want it. Upon arrival we entered the office and it appeared that we were an inconvenience to the gentleman who was seated in the back with his headphones on. He did not say hello and may not have even said anything. We said we were here to check in and he said "not until 2" I then asked if we could leave our bags which we were allowed to do. This same gentlemen was somewhat helpful when we asked for help with our tv. He is the only person we saw working for the 3 days we were there. Sadly, he never got any friendlier. It really sets a bad feel for a place when you receive that kind of "welcome". Unfortunate as front end people should be able to give a nice simple greeting- just as simple as hello or how can I help you. Aside from that the room and property were sufficient.

The front desk staff was fantastic!! They were so friendly, helpful, and attentive. The property is in a great location for Key West. Our room was clean and the parking was great. I will say for paying more than $300 a night, I do think it is a bit overpriced.

Our check in was with a gentleman called Foster who was fantastic. He was enthusiastic in helping is and providing information and all with a very friendly demeanour.Things went down hill after that. The gentleman on duty the next two mornings gave us the impression that he thought guests were an "inconvenience." The room was small with shabby chic decoration. One problem was the fact that there is no light switch nearby on entry so you have to either leave the lights on whilst you are ut or fumble around in the dark There was no place to put luggage except on the floor which was not good for my bad back. Our check in was with a gentleman called Foster who was fantastic. He was enthusiastic in helping is and providing information and all with a very friendly demeanour.Things went down hill after that. The gentleman on duty the next two mornings gave us the impression that he thought guests were an "inconvenience." The room was small with shabby chic decoration. One problem was the fact that there is no light switch nearby on entry so you have to either leave the lights on whilst you are ut or fumble around in the dark There was no place to put luggage except on the floor which was not good for my bad back. Loved staying here. The owner greeted us and was super friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff always did a great job. The area is a little further from the Main Street in Key West, but that makes it more quiet and allowed us to relax.

Hotel was clean and comfortable, however, rooms facing White Street can be extremely noisy at night form car truck and motorbike traffic. Customer Service is not a priority. For example, on our final day in Key West, we missed a scheduled tour because we needed the front desk to hold our luggage beginning at 9:30AM. They refused to accept our luggage until it was 10:00AM. I'm sure that they will provide an excuse, but there really aren't any!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in October 2024. We were very happy with our cottage and the premises. Service was excellent. Each morning they served a lovely continental breakfast (never a shortage) and the best coffee which was available for most of the day! The only downfall was it wasn’t as close to Duval as we would have liked but only a short Uber away. No complaints and we would definitely recommend booking.

Very nice guest house tucked in a quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed walking to everywhere we wanted to go. Our room was very small but it was fine for 2 nights. Bed was comfortable and breakfast was a nice bonus.

Excelent property, great location. In old town with easy walk. 10 - 15 minutes, to major sites. Off street parking is available, free, just need to wait for spots. In quite neighborhood.

Our room was next to pool and very noisy due to unsupervised kids in the pool for hours. Ask for room away from pool. A long walk to Duval Street. Bed was very comfortable. The room was a little old, but clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

It wasn't terrible but, I would look elsewhere next time. The place itself is cute, but amenities are really basic. You can't get coffee before 8:30 AM so what is the point? A breakfast is theoretically offered but it is all pre-packaged food and very unappetizing. Better to go down the street for good Cuban coffee and real food. The shower tile was so slippery that I had to stand on a towel. And the towels are those cheap small white ones that are pretty useless. While they purport to have wifi, it is unsecured so you can only use basic functions on your devices. Room was ok but the layout was awkward so we had to move things around to make it functional which included bringing in a small outdoor table so both sides of the bed were useable. Best thing about the place was the location which is close to Duval Street but beware the parking situation in Key West - it is ridiculous.

Our room at Authors of the Keys West Guest House was a queen bed and a bathroom. Room space was in short supply. The front office is staffed till 5pm so if you will be arriving later than 5pm make arrangements. The breakfast was excellent, including great coffee, bagels, hard boiled eggs, fruit etc. Parking is limited to 2 on-site spaces.

Lovely place! The outdoor hot tub was really nice. Our poets room was very spacious and clean. The coffee and purified water are excellent. All three of us found the breakfast a bit underwhelming for a guest house. No hot food like sausage or bacon was available. The breakfast bagels and pastry were pretty good though wrapped in plastic. There were several choices of cereal in plastic containers, yogurt, cheese sticks and hard boiled eggs. Staff was very nice. Plenty of street parking. I would stay here again.

We stayed in the “Library” room on the ground level. The room was very clean, bright, and private and had a patio area with a glass table and 2 chairs where we enjoyed a bottle of wine and food. The location was good for us. It was within walking distance of all the must see Key West attractions and restaurants. The road was somewhat busy and noisy during the day but at night was pretty quiet. A cold breakfast was included where you could get coffee, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, microwaveable oatmeal, juice, etc. The coffee was terrible but the rest was adequate for breakfast if you are not looking for anything fancy. All in all we enjoyed our stay here and would go there again!

I have never given a bad review before, but this place was nasty. The staff didnt seem to care, the rooms were clean but shabby, with no tea or coffee equipment. There was hot water outside but no cups to make tea or coffee. The breakfast was an insult to the word breakfast, there was NOTHING worth eating. But worst of all, the pool! It was not a pool, it was a jacuzzi, at best it was a dipping pool, it was impossible to swim even one stroke it was so small. It was a disgrace.
