Great food, high quality service. Unfortunately, despite staying at one of the most expensive suites, treatment and spa slots were not reserved or offered so we missed out on treatments due to no availability. In addition, the orchard suite, which was recommended for its privacy felt a bit like a basement, and its outdoor bathtub was overlooked by the suite balconies above.

Absolutely amazing place. Beautiful gardens and grounds. Nice restaurant with great food. Staff were super. Pool gets a bit busy and its not massive, but excellent facilities. Fantastic walks into Sandsend and Whitby. Gorgeous coastline.

Unfortunately not a perfect stay which was very disappointing with it being my husband’s birthday, booked through Hotels.com so not allowed to use the pool unless we paid £45 each, I have never heard of this before.The rooms are very nice but paying £5 for nut or crisps is ridiculous. The breakfast was very underwhelming with minimal choice, awful cold poached eggs, cold plates, weak coffee, all left me feeling very sick! Not worth £291 for one night.

Lovely woodland setting, and only 200 metres walk to the sea! Quiet, but subtly lit outdoors after dusk. Nice pool and spa facilities. Obliging, helpful staff. No negative comments- will stay again!

The accommodation was very well equipped and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The spa facilities were very clean and enjoyed the pool and the steam room. Food in the restaurant was excellent as was the ale I tried. All the staff, whether within the main hotel or The Hyde where we stayed were so helpful and polite. Nothing seemed too much bother to the staff. The buggy service between The Hyde and the main hotel I had not expected to use but we did after using the spa and very quickly someone was available to drive us down. Thank you all

We really like this hotel , the only problem we found was that as it was school holidays in this area they allow children into the spa area for swimming so we couldnot relax as excited children made it a little noisy, also our room was next to rooms with children in so this caused noise also , we are not against children as we have grandchildren also but we went for a relaxing break and we found this a little difficult to relax. This hotel is in a lovely area and the staff are very welcoming and polite.

Very nice stay. Electric charging point for car which was really convenient. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Cosy room was very clean and spacious with a large bathroom. Swimming pool was brilliant. We can thoroughly recommend a stay at this lovely hotel

Unusual hotel in a lovely secluded valley. We were in the dog friendly rooms which are duplexes - not very hotel-ish but did the job. Good staff, good breakfast, lovely bit of coastline just down the road. Two eco-complaints: 1) please replace mini soaps, shampoos etc with refillable ones; 2) the electric car charger is super expensive so largely unused.

Booked for a babymoon break over New Year and we got exactly what we wanted - a restful break in a hotel with great facilities. Our room was very comfortable especially the bed, the pool area is lovely with its windows on to the adjacent stream and waterfall, a great variety at breakfast and when we dined in the restaurant one evening, it was the best meal we had the whole trip. Highly recommend for trips to Whitby and the surrounding area.

Had a lovely 2 night stay at this lovely hotel. The setting is beautiful, gardens and forest. Loved the swimming pool. Room was spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed, good shower room. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely go back.

We stayed in The Hyde which was away from the main building down the drive way. Lovely grounds. Room was spacious and nicely set up with beverages and free water. We requested our breakfast in the room for 08.30am, which was sadly cold on arrival as it had to be brought down from the main hotel (probably not a good idea after all). Went out for the day and returned at 3.45pm to find all the breakfast dishes still there and no one had serviced the room. A quick phone call sorted it out but its not what you expect when paying £200 per night. Meal in the restaurant was pricey but enjoyable. The room would have benefitted from a fridge and a bar in the lobby of The Hyde should be considered. Kind of felt like you were out of it being in The Hyde and felt like for the price it should have had something special for itself. Concierges were very nice .

Would highly recommend room 301 for families. Plenty of room and the standard far outweighed our expectations. Staff couldn’t have been nicer, pool was spotless and very relaxing. Absolutely no complaints at all.

We have been to Raithwaite Hall before and it was precisely the same as the last time we came. It is a fabulous venue/location. The only slight criticism I would make is that the room we stayed in (407) is becoming a little tired.

we stayed in the Keep the room was a mini suite not particularly large. The view was pretty dull rom the balcony as it had window from a sevice room at one end. The balcony needed a good clean as it was quite filthy. The restaurant was pretty poor all round.

The room was well appointed, very good hospitality tray and comfortable bed but needs better pillows. Also a 13.5 tog duvet in the middle of summer is ridiculous. Eating in the restaurant was nice except for the barking dogs in the room next door. It’s fine being dog friendly but staff need to be authoritative enough to be able to tell barking dog owners to quieten them or to leave. The breakfast menu was disappointing with not enough variety and there was a very long wait for our choices to arrive. The hollandaise on the eggs benedict was awful. All in all it’s a nice place but we would not rush back.

Have stayed several times always been superb. This time, stuck down in the annex. Transport indifferent, Wi-Fi non existent. Phone not working in room. Service poor. Room itself was good.

The hotel is lovelly the room was excellent all the areas are warm and clean. The bed was comfortable the bathroom was ample size and facilities were all good. My only negatives are the soundproofing between level 3 rooms and corridor is poor and you hear the floor creaking every time some one walks down the corridor, possible placing the bed on the opposite wall may help. The wait for cooked breakfast was way too long after ordering at the table it was approx 25 minutes wait and in this time the cereal dishes were never cleared either so maybe a little more training of waiting staff at breakfast time could be required. The price charged for breakfast seems a little excessive to at £18 per person I don’t recall paying that much before anywhere else including London hotels.

Fabulous stay at this beautiful hotel!! A stuuning hotel and grounds. Lovely room with small balcony overlooking the orchard. Very comfortable bed too. Delicious breakfast both mornings no issue's at all, we were a group of eight and a table of eight was arranged each morning. We have a fabulous meal on our first night everything was perfect. We had drinks in the bar and the bar supervisor Aiden looked after us very well, again arranging seating for our large group. All the staff at the Raithwaite were very helpful and friendly 🙂 We will definitely return to The Raithwaite hotel.

The place was lovely but what really stood out was the friendly and helpful staff. Our suite was in the Hide and the concierges were fantastic; welcoming and friendly from day one. My wife was heavily pregnant at the time so we probably made more requests than usual (extra pillows, tweaks to the air condition, lift to the restaurant etc.) but these were all met with friendly kindness and great efficiency. The restaurant staff were also great; welcoming, friendly and attentive. The food was also very good. We used the spa most days of our stay and the staff there were very attentive and helpful too. All in all we had a lovely stay!

Staff were really helpful and solved what few problems we encountered quickly and with a friendly smile. Mainly our stay was relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. The location is fantastic with beautiful grounds and also close to the beach. We got a taxi into Whitby for dinner one evening (taxi arranged by the hotel with no fuss). Had very successful spa treatments and use of the well managed and well appointed pool. Highly recommended hotel!

service was terrible , the food was so bad we sent some of it back and yet they still tried to charge us for it on check out , Half the wine on the menu they had no stock of and just said it is what it is . The overall stay was just a poor experience . It should also be made clear you are not staying at Raithwaite but the annex down the road and have to report to the main venue to check out .

Lovely spa hotel in a peaceful setting staff were brilliant. A nice half hour stroll into Whitby along the coastal path. The only negative was a 5 minute taxi ride into Whitby cost between £10-£12 one way, however there is a bus stop just outside the hotel.

A remote hotel with a 15 minute walk in to Sandsend, remote but lovely and the small village had a great pub for food and drink. We also had a drink in the hotel bar before heading out, prices were very reasonable, the full english breakfast was good, not as big as some hotels but kept us full. Rooms were great, pool was fantastic, staff were always lovely, what more can you ask.

Beautiful house and grounds with a lake and lovely garden. Excellent room, spa and pool. Very good restaurant and bar. Four electric charge points in the car park. Very good location within walking distance from Sandsend and Whitby and the beach. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful grounds accessed from the bar/rear of restaurant area - literally step outside and there they are. 10-15 minutes walk from the front of the hotel takes you into Sandsend, lovely village. Walk in the opposite direction takes you to Whitby, can walk or take car. Reception asked what our plans were each day, gave us parking disc for Whitby...gives you 3 hours in designated areas..perfect. Lovely hotel for a break that can be as relaxing or busy as you want it to be.

A lovely hotel. The food was beautiful and I loved the fact that it was locally sourced. The hotel car park is not near the main building but their is a guest drop off space outside and the staff are happy to help with bags.

Fantastic scenic experience with wonderful staff who were eager to ensure our comfort. Dinner at the restaurant was divine and capped off a lovely stay. I had some personal discomfort with the type of spring mattress in our room, however, overall we enjoyed a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Perfect stay. Location wonderful, Sansend is a very special favourite place. Hotel and grounds a real pleasure, staff pleasant and efficient, food very good, facial a real treat.
