Perfect stay, we have a large dog and the the room was spot on with access to the garden.. lots of extras in the room. Evening meal and breakfast a very good standard. Our dog even got a sausage for breakfast.

Great location just a short drive from the A1. Food is absolutely fantastic and they offer a wonderful vegan and gluten free menu also. They have a generously sized car park great for larger vehicles like campervans and they are listed in the BritStops directory. Rooms are well sized and full of thoughtful details like a guest book, hot chocolate, chocolate bars and coffee pods for the coffee maker. Cleanliness is pretty good, although the staff member who showed us the room walked straight into the room, directly from the carpark outside (some rooms are located in an annex accessed from the carpark) without wiping their feet or removing their shoes so we were a little dubious of the carpet cleanliness. Very quiet at night, so slept very soundly. Overall a very pleasant stay and we'd stay again.

The ‘exceptional’ rating swayed our decision to stay but room we were allocated was very small for the price we paid. The room was not in the hotel but in a house along the road. There appeared to be no security measures in place and the main door was left open all evening for anyone to walk in. Furthermore, despite its price, and the warm evening, they didn’t have fans for the rooms; apparently they had all broken or been stolen! Overall a good hotel but I think exceptional is a misnomer.

Fantastic as usual. All the staff friendly and efficient. Such a lovely atmosphere in the bar and restaurant . We stayed in a room perfect for us and our dog, with doors leading straight to the garden.

Lovely find!! Ribs were sensational!! Room clean and comfortable. Hot tap proved testing as it was threaded opposite to what you expected. Toilet seat needed securing. Curly wurly on hospitality tray a nice touch!!

In my humble opinion. It is a lovely place to stay. When i can, i will stay here for Two nights every month while working in the area. Extremely friendly staff,. The rooms, that i have stayed in are always clean and comfortable. If there was an option for mostars, i would pick them.

Staff were brilliant and friendly especially Franky who was great with the kids making them feel welcome. The family room was excellent, was a bonus that the kids got a separate room to themsleves, was clean and furnished in keeping with the Inn with great facilites in the room. Breakfast was excellent too with a greay selection to choose from.

We really loved the hotel, the room was great. Big comfortable bed. Excellent shower. Curly werly bar instead of biscuits with the tea and coffee facilities was a great touch. We ate at the restaurant two nights and the food was excellent. We will be staying here again and have recommended the Black horse to friends and family alike.

Very quirky pub with a fantastic horse theme. The rooms were fabulous and very comfortable. They had thought of everything in the rooms and also had Dolce Gusto coffee. Then curly wurly was a great idea instead of biscuits in the room. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Cannot fault the service we received at the bar or in the restaurant and the food was amazing.

Nice location, nice rooms excellent food, the room we stayed in ‘Best Mate’ had the laundry on one side so we could hear the dryer going when we got into the room. Unfortunately the room the other side of us had its bathroom backing onto the headboard of the bed, so we had the pleasure of hearing them in the bathroom throughout the night and early in the morning.

From the warm and friendly welcome to ourall-too-soon goodbye the hotel staff were fantastic. Caring and helpful they made our stay memorable. The hotel itself is comfortable (beds were great). It is a cosy, homely place and THE FOOD WAS GREAT. We will definitely be returning.

Noisy dog in room next door, rock hard mattresses, mouldy bread for dinner and split hollandaise sauce for breakfast. Took card details even though i had prepaid. In case of damages....really?! Was a birthday weekend so very disappointed. Chef wants retraining. Staff underwhelming.
