Had the Ann Boleyn Room at back of the hotel. It was quite noisy as i think we were above kitchen. Or central heating boiler noise? staff in restaurant were very pleasant. Had the cooked breakfast two days running but sausages and bacon were overcooked. Had someone at 3 in morning talking outside. Parking was difficult as car park is very small

It is hard to walk up to the narrow stairs with luggage. The room is a little bit small but the bed is comfortable. I like it there is a kettle in the room that I can make some tea on a cold night. It was very close to the venue we needed to go. The restaurant was busy and the food looked good but we didn't have time.

Staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival. The meal was delicious and only a short walk to the seafront to enjoy a beautiful sunset afterwards. I would have given a higher score except for the very early wake up call (pre 6am) of bar staff throwing empty barrels around for over an hour at rear of property.

The setting is a lovely village green, a great place to try out the various ales on tap. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and well equipped. Although we found the beds uncomfortable. Breakfast is recommended especially at £7.50 per head, per morning (if you pay upfront). Although there are items missing that were on the online menu, everyone including me kept asking for the pancakes! Would highly recommend, as long as you can stomach the usual noise associated with a pub and unsupportive pillows (each to their own)

The room was shabby, could do with a lick of paint. very noisey as it was above the kitchen and the extractor fans were right next to our windows, so noisey and smelly. The breakfast was absolutely vile. Food was stone cold and the pastries were raw, asked for more and came out raw again. Wouldnt eat breakfast there for the rest if our stay. Worst breakdast ever. This wasnt included in out £100 a night stay either, this was extra to pay. However the evening meals were absolutely fabulous, definitely a different cook/chef. Staff were friendly. Limited parking, couldnt park close which wasnt convenient with cases and a child.

Waited for over 10 minutes for someone to check me in, the wait staff kept apologizing about it. Parking was a nightmare, it is a very narrow street. The restaurant closed at 9, the Bar at 11, but that didn't stop the people in the other rooms from continuing the party in their rooms. I don't know where the pics from their website came from, because the room I chose, was not the room in the picture. Just not a good experience. Sorry.

Super clean hotel and very friendly staff on what was a very busy Boxing Day check-in. Great hotel for the price. My only niggles - the towel rail in the bathroom came loose a few times and I would've preferred slightly softer pillows but neither of those things are show stoppers. Would highly recommend this hotel for a budget stay in Porthcawl.

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely establishment for a night while travelling. A warm welcome, a clean fresh room, excellent food, friendly locals, comfy bed, relaxed atmosphere. Will definetly stay again when next in the area.

I wish I could leave two separate ratings, one for the wonderful staff and dining experience, which was reasonably priced and quite tasty and five stars, and a separate one for my room, which would earn two stars and was really in drastic need of a makeover ten years ago. Stained and cracked walls, stained carpet, chipping paint from the ceiling, a smoke detector that gets set off by too much steam from the shower, and not even a basic USB charger, which really should be a staple in every hotel worldwide at this point. Great staff and service, though!

The room is not suitable for occupancy. Wallpaper coming off walls, ceiling damp, carpet tired, bathroom needs a refit. Awful nights sleep as there was a leak above room 1 which tripped the fire alarm system which was active until 3am. Dinner and breakfast was good. Staff were friendly but no refund offered which was surprising giving the circumstances

Friendly, efficient check-in. Comfortable bed, plenty of clean towels and nice toiletries. Only two teabags in the hospitality tray, but was able to get some more at breakfast from the staff. Tasty breakfast, which was good value. No complaints.

Wow wow wow amazing place , totally loved it , wished we had 3 nights instead of 2 , granddaughter loved the Mac and cheese , staff are all so pleasant nothing is to much trouble , we will be back

This place is so charming. Low beams and authenticity. The bar and dining areas are really nicely coordinated, so the place is atmospheric but you still have as much privacy and comfort for your group as you would want. Food was excellent. Nice pub, good food. They always seem to be short staffed which means waiting to be served, existing staff are very good. The biggest complaint are the rooms, in real need of some decorating and updating. Its shame ad it could be teally nice.

Staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival. The meal was delicious and only a short walk to the seafront to enjoy a beautiful sunset afterwards. I would have given a higher score except for the very early wake up call (pre 6am) of bar staff throwing empty barrels around for over an hour at rear of property.

The setting is a lovely village green, a great place to try out the various ales on tap. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and well equipped. Although we found the beds uncomfortable. Breakfast is recommended especially at £7.50 per head, per morning (if you pay upfront). Although there are items missing that were on the online menu, everyone including me kept asking for the pancakes! Would highly recommend, as long as you can stomach the usual noise associated with a pub and unsupportive pillows (each to their own)

It was a nostalgia trip for my wife, and it was just as remembered, and did not disappoint. A great location, a genuine old building with retained character. All the staff were great and very welcoming and I would definitely recommend it - and would revisit.

Booked a twin room last minute with my son, travelling long distance for him to take his driving test in Bridgend. Reviews looked good and price was excellent. More or less same price as staying at local service station and SO much better!!! Lovely place to stay. Welcoming staff. Had evening meal and left early next morning. Went for a brief walk around before dinner, local shops and another pub a few hundred yards away across the green. Would consider coming back with wider family in the future. Thank you, Simon

Friendly, efficient check-in. Comfortable bed, plenty of clean towels and nice toiletries. Only two teabags in the hospitality tray, but was able to get some more at breakfast from the staff. Tasty breakfast, which was good value. No complaints.

The room was shabby, could do with a lick of paint. very noisey as it was above the kitchen and the extractor fans were right next to our windows, so noisey and smelly. The breakfast was absolutely vile. Food was stone cold and the pastries were raw, asked for more and came out raw again. Wouldnt eat breakfast there for the rest if our stay. Worst breakdast ever. This wasnt included in out £100 a night stay either, this was extra to pay. However the evening meals were absolutely fabulous, definitely a different cook/chef. Staff were friendly. Limited parking, couldnt park close which wasnt convenient with cases and a child.
