This hotel isn't an actual "proper" hotel, it seems to be the top 3 floors of a different hotel, and the check-in is even done in the reception of a 3rd hotel next door. Is a very strange setup. Having said that, the room that we got was decent value, comfortable and clean and with lots of space (a nice change coming from Paris). Location is great, right outside the door of the main train station, and maybe 5mins walk from the city center.

Basic hotel. Lots of stairs which made it a bit difficult to drag heavy suitcases. Across the street from the train station and trams. Easy access to get around town. We were very confused by the check-in email info. Is right next to the Euler hotel. You can even walk through the reception area of the Euler to get there. Easy. You can see it from the SSB train station.

Overall, it's a good hotel, conveniently located right in front of Basel SBB. The front desk staff were very helpful, and the breakfast was good. If you're traveling with heavy luggage, it's recommended to ask for a room with elevator access. However, there's room for improvement regarding room cleanliness (photos enclosed).

The City Inn offers a real bargain in Basel, so long as you like an architectural puzzle. A single building has been subdivided into one expensive hotel and one mid-price hotel, and all the rooms and passageways in between the two that didn't quite make sense have been called the City Inn. You check in at the posh hotel and have a fine breakfast in a panoramic 8th floor room in the mid-price hotel, and somewhere in between you wander various corridors and bits of staircase looking for your room. It will be odd when you find it, but comfortable, and very reasonably priced.

Great location, very close to central station and tram stops. Really convenient for exploring the city and zoo, as well as further afield. The hotel is not staffed 24/7 but the adjacent hotel (which is part of the same group) is, and they can assist with check in/out, bookings and other queries. Everyone was really friendly. Not all of the hotel is accessible by lift so if this is needed, let the hotel know when booking. We would stay here again.

Les gens sont sympas bien souriant bien accueillant. Quelques jours. C’est bien. Mais beaucoup d’obstacles avec les valises. Pas d’ascenseur(très limité à prendre) un peu compliquer jusqu’à la chambre depuis l’entrée.

Die Zimmer sind Sauber. In den Gängen sind die Teppiche ziemlich abgenutzt und voller Farbkleckse. Das schlimmste war aber dass man in den Zimmern alles hört was im Nachbarzimmer über und neben einem passiert. Besonders schlimm ist es wenn im Zimmer über einem Geduscht wird das ist als wäre es neben Dir. SEHR LAUT!!

Je trouve le prix élevé pour la qualité proposée. Il y a des hôtels plus modernes, dans le centre de Basel, pour le même tarif.

The location was very central and convenient to the Bahnhof and the airport bus and city tram stations. The breakfast was good with lactose free milk options available. The staff were very friendly. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Perfect for an airport stay.

Das Zimmer war sehr klein! Hätten wir eff. heisses Wetter gehabt wäre es nicht möglich gewesen den AC laufen zu lassen während dem Aufenthalt im Zimmer. Sehr viel lärm. Wir hätten diesen laufen lassen müssen währenddem wir zu Nachtessen gegangen wären , dann gleich wieder abstellen bei Rückkehr! Sehr viel Lärm von der Strasse her. Rest war OK!

It was clean and convenient to the train station. I knew that it was a walk up, but three flights of 16 steps each with a suitcase is too much. There was a very noisy rom AC and opening the tiny window just let in more noise from the street.

Die Aussicht beim Frühstück war toll. Das Zimmer ist wirklich extrem klein, man kann kaum zur Tür rein kommen, aber dann ist es passabel sauber und ordentlich. Ist burn wirklich kein Luxus, aber für einmal übernachten ist es ausreichend.

Sehr kleines Doppelzimmer(Zimmer 521). Ich war alleine, dann ist es ok aber zu Zweit knapp. Mit Übergewicht oder grosse Menschen haben ein problem im Badezimmer, da es sehr eng ist. Das Zimmer war sauber. Eine Lampe und der Föhn funktionierten nicht. Ich musste 2x dem Consierge anrufen wegen dem Haartrockner bis jemand kam. Das Zimmer liegt im Innenhof. Dort sind alle Lüftungen und Gebläse. Ein ziemlicher Lärm der mit geschlossenem Fenster ebenso gut zu hören ist wie mit geöffnetem. Via Hotels.com habe ich eine Mail erhalten bezgl. einchecken. Diese Infos stimmen nicht mit der tatsächlichen Situation überein. Die Dame am Abend an der Rezeption vom Hotel Euler war sehr freundlich. Das Auschecken im City Inn hingegen war von einer unfreundlichen Person begleitet. Schade! Für diese Verhältnisse ein teures Zimmer! Die Lage wäre top.

Good hotel in excellent location near the station. Easy walking into town . Rooms basic but comfortable beds. AC a bit noisy but it worked ok. Only one bedside cabinet??? Bathroom small but great shower.

Llegué al hotel con ayuda de Google Maps, pero ese mapa te deja en una de las entradas, una en la que no tienes acceso hasta que no haces el Check in. Y lo que no te dicen es que son 3 hoteles en 1, con muchas formas de entrar. Estuve 10 min en esa puerta, el personal del interfon fue MUY grosero, nadie me contestaba hasta que una persona del restaurante de junto salió a decirme dónde estaba la otra entrada. Ese fue mi único inconveniente. Fuera de ahí todo fue muy sencillo, la chica dw la recepcion fue muy amable, me hiciedon un upgrade, la habitacion eataba muy grande y cómoda. Al ser 3 hoteles en 1 la forma de llegar a la habitacion es enredosa pero nada del otro mundo. El desayuno sencillo pero bueno. En general sí lo recomiendo, solo cambien a quien atiende el interfon.

I tend only do reviews if something is particularly good or bad. Overall the hotel was very good (a little awkward to find though) but I write this review to mention Cedric on reception. He was excellent, helpful, knowledgeable, efficient and a free upgrade! Thank you.

Very. Centrally located with free transit for customers. The team members were exceptional and service oriented. There were missing tiles in the shower with a very slow drain. Slow to fix the drain and the leaking HVAC unit that was leaking water into the room. Breakfast was GREAT! Recommend they change it up with sausage instead of bacon everyday.

The Staff at the hotel were all so lovely. They were all really friendly and helpful. Can’t compliment them enough! Hotel its self is decent for the price. Clean and comfortable. The room we stayed in had a decent radiator and air conditioning, a nice size room overall, & decent bathroom with an excellent shower. Hotel location is brilliant, loads of local transport options right outside, and the train station to further afield is a minute walk. In the interest of a totally honest review, there were a couple of slight downsides. The location of the hotel means it is obviously a little noisy at times, but not so bad that it would be a real complaint. I am a light sleeper and was woken up a couple minutes of times during our stay, not a huge issue. Lastly, breakfast wasn’t great. It wasn’t the worst and you’d definitely find something if you’re not too fussy (fine for a coffee and pastry) but there wasn’t a whole lot of options and everything that should be hot was cold by time we got there, so we only used the breakfast facilities once during our stay. We unfortunately didn’t have the time in the end to try the main restaurant, however the food looked and smelled wonderful and we heard good things about it from other visitors. Overall though, fab hotel for the price in a really good location for exploring the city and nearby places, with wonderful and helpful staff.

Best thing about this property is it's location just around the corner from the main railway station. But we had a problem checking in as we were told that we had only booked for two, even though when I checked my receipt from Expedia, it clearly stated that the booking was for three. Then we were told that we didn't have breakfast included, when again it clearly stated on our Expedia receipt that breakfast was included. It was late at night and we just needed to get to bed, so didn't argue and our son shared the king bed. The room was an off-putting green colour and would have been okay, apart from the pillows that were really flimsy and uncomfortable. We didn't have a good night's sleep. There wasn't anyone on reception when we left the following morning, so we just dropped our key and left disappointed.

Great location, very close to central station and tram stops. Really convenient for exploring the city and zoo, as well as further afield. The hotel is not staffed 24/7 but the adjacent hotel (which is part of the same group) is, and they can assist with check in/out, bookings and other queries. Everyone was really friendly. Not all of the hotel is accessible by lift so if this is needed, let the hotel know when booking. We would stay here again.

Great location, convenient to train and trams, walk from train station! Easy walking to local attractions such as the zoo, and restaurants. The free Basel card means free transport on the trams that pass by the hotel door. We received an upgraded room which was wonderful, very spacious,clean and quiet. Staff have been very welcoming and helpful with information and luggage lifting for tired travellers. Recommend and will stay again.

A good hotel, well located near the rail station. Checking in was fuss-free on arrival for my 2 night stay. Returning for 1 night before returning to the UK the following morning. Room was ok although it did have several areas of low ceilings - not helpful when you are 6’ 2”. Bathroom was functionally good. Very large shower with an overhead and usual water outlet. Water was hot and came with very good pressure (room was on the 3rd floor). Breakfast was v good with selection of all you really need. Dining room located on the 8th with good views.

City Inn Basel was a perfect base for exploring Basel. It is next door to the main train station and tram lines that will get you all over the city. The room was a little small, but the bathroom was huge! The luggage rack was built in and made for a very small suitcase. And there was only one so one of us had to open our suitcase on the floor of the bathroom! But the staff were helpful, the breakfast was good, and the room was quiet. It was perfect for a couple days in the city.
