Stayed 3 nights

Our three-night stay at Canada’s Best Value Inn & Suites Vernon was unacceptable from beginning to end. When we arrived, the person checking us in immediately complained that we had booked through a third-party platform. He repeatedly emphasized that the hotel would receive only approximately $400 even though we had paid around $550 for the three nights. That was completely irrelevant to us as paying guests. If the hotel does not want customers booking through third-party websites, it should not authorize its rooms to be sold through them. Guests should not be confronted, blamed or made to feel unwelcome for using a booking method that the hotel itself permits. We were exhausted and simply wanted to get settled. We were then required to provide a credit card for a $150 damage deposit. The room we were given was a complete mess. There were approximately five moths flying around, the floors were visibly filthy and appeared not to have been properly mopped, the bathroom door would not close, and the walls were damaged and heavily dinged. The room was clearly not being maintained to an acceptable hospitality standard. We have photographs documenting these conditions. The advertised Wi-Fi worked only on the first night. After that, we could no longer connect. No housekeeping service was provided during our entire three-night stay. When we raised this issue, the hotel representative insisted that it was our fault because we had not specifically called and requested housekeeping
