Here’s a polished review that keeps it fair but makes the sauna issue clear: Overall, we had a really good stay. Our room was a private little cabin-style suite that was very clean, comfortable, and nicely secluded. We really enjoyed the space and the privacy, and I would definitely stay here again. The only downside was that staff felt somewhat nonexistent, likely because the cabins are quite separate from the main hotel. We also reserved a specific time for the sauna one evening, but when we arrived, it was already full of about eight men from a fishing trip who clearly hadn’t reserved that time. If the hotel is going to offer reserved sauna times, they need to have some way of actually enforcing the reservations. Aside from that, it was a very nice property and an enjoyable stay. I’d happily return.

We were a family of 12 and booked 3 oceanfront rooms for a total of 15 nights. The lodge means a lot to her, as she used to come here with her late husband when they owned a property in Campbell River. I was a little worried after reading recent reviews, but overall, we’re glad we chose Painter’s Lodge. Our rooms were spacious and renovated, with beautiful, unobstructed views of the harbour and shoreline. The property is beautiful, the pool was clean and spacious, and the gym and tennis court appeared well maintained. There were a few issues. The biggest was the music being blasted from a speaker right outside Room 10, starting at 7 am and continuing until very late at night. For a hotel that advertises enjoying coffee to the sound of waves and seabirds, blasting the Bee Gees at full volume at 7 am was honestly ridiculous. We complained several times. It took two days and another guest complaining before the music was finally stopped near the upper rooms. The large wooden bed frames also have very sharp edges, and unfortunately my daughter scratched her leg quite badly. The mattresses could also be better for a 4star hotel. A huge shout-out to Patrick, the bar manager, who made our evening by the fire one of the highlights of our family reunion. This guy is worth his weight in gold and deserves a raise! We found the restaurant quite pricey and only ate there once, but overall, we’re happy we stayed at Painter's Lodge.

Painter’s Lodge is a great place to stay. Staff were very nice and I would stay there again. We were extremely happy there is ev charging at the lodge. It is due for a refresh and the rooms could be cleaner.

If you can get an ocean view room, then I would say everything is worth it! The view is spectacular, we saw seals daily and even saw orcas from the deck. The service was unfortunately a little lacking (there never seemed to be enough towels at the pool despite repeated requests). But, again, with views like that from your own room, I have no complaints.
