Family of 4 stayed in two rooms. Beautiful hotel , not big but not too small. Very clean looked recently renovated with some touches of the old building. Great location walking distance from main attractions in the center. No parking but a public garage right next door. Would definitely stay there again.

We arrived late and check-in was easy. The rooms were tight but very clean and extremely quiet. The location was surprisingly convenient and easy to get to our destinations. We did not try the breakfast buffet but did enjoy drinks in the lounge in the evening. I got a kick out of the antique elevator and used almost every time!

I stayed here 9 years ago when I was last in Madrid and for this current stay, it was even better than I remember. The location can’t be beat - walkable in minutes from so many places yet quiet and charming. The lobby is welcoming and beautiful, inviting you to sit and linger with a coffee or glass of wine. The breakfast has a nice spread and the evening tapas and cocktails out on the plaza was a fun way to start the night without breaking the bank. Our room was large by Europe standards, with tall ceilings, and a balcony over the side street. Great storage in the closet, and a well-stocked and nice-sized bathroom. The beds were super comfy and it was very quiet. The only minor issues were the size of the fitness room - it was smaller than our actually hotel room albeit with good weights and bike and treadmill but difficult for more than one person to comfortably use. The bathroom could use a fan as it got steamy after a quick shower and needs more hooks on the wall and a couple on the back of the door. Otherwise, I could not recommend this wonderful place more highly. It was our home away from home during our week-long stay in Madrid. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

I don't normally go out of my way to write negative reviews but this one has to be said because I'm so surprised this place has such a high rating and is considered a 4 star hotel... When I first checked in, the bathroom in my room was covered in someone else's hair - the amount was excessive and I took photos just in case reception didn't believe me (those aren't my hair because mine are a lot thicker). The wifi in this place also barely works, I've had to hotspot on international data throughout my two days here and I haven't been able to get any work done. The facilities in this hotel are also really dated. Why does the fridge not work? Last night I bought two bottles of fresh squeeze juices to store in the fridge overnight, but because the fridge isn’t working, the juices were spoiled. I’ve asked the front desk to send someone to fix it and so far no one has. The walls have holes, etc. The only redeeming quality about this place is the location, it is quite central to a lot of shopping.

Wish we had had longer in Madrid. We were blown away by the city and by this hotel. It was clean, beautiful, the staff was super friendly, especially when I said in Spanish that I was still learning the language. The receptionist was patient and happy to speak clearly and slowly with me. He really made me feel comfortable and welcome. We were always greeted with a smile. We had a terrace in our suite and it really made our stay extra special. We cant wait to come back to Madrid and when we do, we will absolutely be staying here.

Good for close proximity to city centre - really good however some minor issues: Air conditioning didn't work, it would just blast hot air and think room temperature was much lower than it actually was. Whilst power shower was strong, it alternated between hot and cold which was annoying Gold Expedia member, they didn't really seem to give me much of an upgrade (it looked the same as standard room) Worst was the poor sound insulation - from street outside noise to hearing next door neighbour and cleaners early in the morning in corridor

The room was extremely small, amongst the smallest i’ve seen in Europe, more like a Venice room than a Madrid room. Check in was somewhat disappointing, maybe because it was at 2am the guy seemed more annoyed than interested in helping in guiding us through the property or highlighting local interest points. I recently stayed at the Intelier Palacio San Martin and was extremely disappointed with my experience. The most glaring issue was the rude and unfriendly attitude of the concierge staff. From the moment I arrived, I felt unwelcome and unappreciated as a guest. Their lack of professionalism and courtesy was both shocking and unacceptable. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was equally unsatisfactory. Despite its promising exterior, the service quality did not meet even the most basic expectations. The staff seemed uninterested in addressing any concerns, and their dismissive behavior made my stay very unpleasant. Given this experience, I would not recommend Intelier Palacio San Martin to anyone. There are plenty of other options in the area where guests are treated with the respect and hospitality they deserve. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere.

This property is well located and on a quiet square not far from the Gran Via. The building is attractive and the rooms fine. The reason that I am giving it a bad rating is due to the staff at the front desk and the fact that we had no wifi for more than 24 hours. When we checked in we were not notified AT ALL about this issue. (later after trying to connect for 20 minutes we went down to the lobby and noticed a sign saying that there was no wifi). I could not get my hotspot to work in the hotel either so we were VERY inconvenienced by this. The front desk personnel was very sullen and not helpful at all when asked when we might be having service again. I stayed at the Hotel Regina before coming here and I so wish I would have stayed there. Having no wifi for 24 hours and not even offering your guests a free drink for the inconvenience? Wow, that is a poor hotel. The man who runs the breakfast area is a doll and the other staff who work there could learn a lot about service from him.

Worst hotel during three week trip where I visited Spain and Portugal. Though it’s a VIP Assess hotel, they don’t offer VIP member benefits, no free breakfast, no room upgrade. Even after you showed them the reservation and Expedia’s public VIP member benefits summary. Not only they don’t acknowledge that, they gave me the worst attitude. They wanted the client to call Expedia and negotiate the agreement between the hotel and Expedia. I will not recommend anyone stay at this hotel. If you are an Expedia VIP member of any level, don’t expect any treatment at this hotel. Stay away from this hotel, the manager is terrible!

I have booked a Junior Suite room with breakfast at hotels.com and when I arrived they said that the breakfast wasn’t included. The room was much smaller than listed in hotels.com. The WiFi service broke down for more than 1 day and they didn’t offer any incentive. They said that it happened and I had to deal with it. Overall a poor experience based on the amount of money that I paid for the room. I will never go back or recommend this hotel. I lost business do to the problem with the WiFi and they didn’t care. I e-mail the same day to hotels.com but I have never received an answer or any help

Perfect location to walk to most places (15 mins at most 25 mins). In a quiet neighborhood but walk a couple mins and you’ll be surrounded with a mixture of locals and tourists. Food was easy access and spectacular, none of those tourist traps. Felt safe walking as a couple whether it was 6 am or 12 am. Would recommend and come back to one day. Staff overall were amazing. Kind, helpful, and informative with any and all recommendations. breakfast every morning was great. Lots of fruit, meats, and cheese options.

Located central to tourist spots, Intelier is quiet at night and is very clean and atmospheric. A short walk to metro stations (Callao or Sol) and Gran Via for shopping. I'd stay here again! I was very comfortable :)

The location is awesome! Close to so many must see and must eat places! There is never a shortage of restaurant/cafe, very diverse in food selection as well. It’s also near 3 of the must try churros (I love churros!). Breakfast though could have been better. I love that they make your eggs and bacon upon request but I wish the food selection for the buffet was different everyday or at least every 2 days but it was the same every single day for the 7 mornings we were there. Even the fruits didn’t change. Overall, we had a fantastic time!

Spent two nights at the Intelier and I had a pleasant experience. Located super downtown. Easy to navigate anywhere from it. Close to the Teatro Real which makes it really convenient may you have tickets for the Opera/Concert. Loved the old charm of the hotel with its wooden staircase. Took the breakfast to option and would recommend it as everything was fresh and tasty.
