Nice hotel at a reasonable price in a lovely village overlooked by the remains of a castle. Friendly staff, decent pub grub for dinner at slightly over-inflated prices and an OK breakfast (improve the bacon please). Rooms are reasonable for the price.

I have stayed here before and it is located in a small English village on the country side. Hiking paths close by and the real feel of a true English village. The hotel is small, but the staff very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are mostly in an annex. Small rooms, but adequate space. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant is great and the full English breakfast gives a good start of the day. There is parking space on the back of the hotel if you come by car.

Our 2nd visit here. Lovely place to return to after a busy day and sit outside in the garden with a g,&t. We had a large room acessed from outside by the garden. We thoughtvit would be noisy as the garden was busy..it wasnt. We ate in the restaurant, not a huge choice but the food was wonderful.

The hotel was warm & cosy in January. The staff were extremely friendly & welcoming. The breakfast was a good portion size & very tasty. The breakfast was included with the stay & should’be cost around £12 meaning my room for the night was around £51. A bargain for this location. The room was warm & cosy. The bed was comfy & the shower facilities were clean & water was a good temperature. There is free shampoo & body wash in the room that I used. Free Sky TV in your room with access to Sky Movies. A kettle with free coffee & tea as well as some complimentary biscuits. The only downside was the walls are quite thin & you could hear guests departing in the morning & a little bit of traffic but that didn’t really bother me all that much.

The staff were friendly, good humoured and professional. Stayed two nights in room 5 which was fine. Second visit (same week) I stayed two nights in room 15. The 'bathroom' was the width the toilet which had no toilet brush. The tiny shower was of equal width. The small sink (about 7 inches wide) looked like vegetables had been cleaned in it as the bowl and tap were muddy. The bowl was almost cleaned when I washed in it but the tap was still dirty next day even though the bed had been made up. There was a glass shelf above the sink which prevented bending over it to clean teeth. Disappointing as room 5 was good.

Hotel looked amazing. Room looked cheap. Nasty chipboard furniture. “Double” bed with a big dip in the middle. Paper thin walls so I heard every fart from the room next door. Useless shower with no power and wild temperature fluctuations. Place had an iron but not a steam iron. To be fair to the owner he emailed asking why I didn’t enjoy my stay and I didn’t hold back. He replied that his hotel didn’t always suit everybody. Seems I was in that category. So if you like a bad shower, thin walls and an uncomfortable bed with 1970s furniture, book a night here!

Great location, nice building and friendly staff. Booked a standard room as only there for 1 night. I was in the annex The room was compact, but not too small and clean.. Furnishings are dated, but bed was comfortable. The bathroom, if you can call it that was the smallest have ever seen. The sink was absolutely tiny and trying to use the toilet was a challenge due to lack of space.Walls are paper thin, could even hear the next room phone vibrate and doors banging. Not great sleep as ski light above the pillow end of the bed which needs better blind on there. Crammed 4 rooms into a space that isn’t big enough. The dining room decor doesn’t fit the building, way too modern. was very warm at breakfast as was most of the hotel, seemed to have air con in the dining room, but not on. Breakfast was ok as complimentary, would be very disappointed if had paid. Also a very odd conversation with another table being advising only 2 poached eggs left, but fried/scrambled fine which left most of the room slightly confused, how is that possible. Could be so much better

There was one chair, a small table and two nightstands. The ensuite bathroom was clean with a good hot shower, but it took up the whole of what would have been quite a large bedroom window at that end of the room. There was one other small window in the bedroom area so the room was quite dark without the lights on. While it was great that the hotel is eco conscious, the problem with the bathroom light being movement reactive, meant that there was no way to switch it off before entering and closing the door, so my husband was woken up by a bright beam from the bathroom light in the middle of the night. Apart from that it was a pleasant stay and the restaurant was good except for the food being rather too salty for my taste.

I enjoyed my stay and the staff were great. But I had problems getting shower going and there was no heating on. Both problems were fixed but there could have been more info. Especially as the pub was closed the Sunday evening I arrived so no help available.

The Inn is in a lovely location. We were disappointed however on arrival when we were charged for a second night even though we were booked for one. Our room was in the eaves, very snall and the window was too high to look out from. The shower was terrible - either icy cold or scalding hot. The food served at the hotel was delicious - no complaints there. Overall though a disappointing stay for the price - over £200 for one nighy. It wasnt worth it.

Had a very pleasant stay for 1 night while in the area on business. Staff were excellent and especially Debbie who looked after me well at 6.15am when officially breakfast was not available until 7am, thank you Debbie!! Only 'negative' comment - the ensuite could do with some modernising, otherwise, a lovely place to stay and great value too! :-)

Loved the staff. So friendly and helpful. Had a big struggle arranging for a taxi and the bar tender totally helped us get hooked up. The room was as advertised and the food and drinks were awesome.

We have stayed here a couple of times in the past. They have just finished a refurb and were also filming an episode of "The Hotel Inspector" so there were some restrictions but as ever the staff were great and the welcome was warm. The food was as good as on previous visits. However it was a little noisy at times and a few distractions for the staff. We will visit again, I'm sure

I have stayed here before and it is located in a small English village on the country side. Hiking paths close by and the real feel of a true English village. The hotel is small, but the staff very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are mostly in an annex. Small rooms, but adequate space. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant is great and the full English breakfast gives a good start of the day. There is parking space on the back of the hotel if you come by car.

The Castle Inn Hotel is in a lovely quiet picturesque village. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was small but clean and had an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. There was one chair, a small table and two nightstands. The ensuite bathroom was clean with a good hot shower, but it took up the whole of what would have been quite a large bedroom window at that end of the room. There was one other small window in the bedroom area so the room was quite dark without the lights on. While it was great that the hotel is eco conscious, the problem with the bathroom light being movement reactive, meant that there was no way to switch it off before entering and closing the door, so my husband was woken up by a bright beam from the bathroom light in the middle of the night. Apart from that it was a pleasant stay and the restaurant was good except for the food being rather too salty for my taste.

Enjoyable stay for a couple of nights. Great food, both dinner and breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. There isn't a single right angle or level floor in the inn but that just adds to its charm. Hot water takes an age to come through in the bathroom but there is sign to that effect. Would stay again.

Welcoming with a smart pub/restaurant and a warm welcome. Accommodation was in a disabled room so plenty of space. Good quality and well laid out. Food and drink was top quality, the breakfast was plentiful and again top quality. Have already recommended.

Séjour convenable. Dommage pas de lumière au miroir de la salle de bain. Concernant le petit déjeuner on avait pas assez de viennoiseries, ils en remettait pas. Une fois qu’il y en avait plus. pour nous, Français, qui ne mangeons pas de petit déjeuner anglais. C’est un peu léger. Sinon pour le dîner du soir franchement très bonne cuisine. Félicitations aux équipes

We stayed in one of the cottage rooms at the back of the property and found it clean, modern, airy and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were pleasant. A good stop while walking the South Downs Way.

Very pleasant stay. Food was great, vegetables cooked rather than just hot. Only bit that jarred was the noise echoing around the restaurant and breakfast room when busy. Modern minimalist styles with very little soft furnishings might suit some but we prefer not having to shout at each other during a meal.
