The Angel Hotel

Had a great stay in a very warm and clean room. Not a complaint but a previous guest has sadly decided to place a hot iron on the carpet and scorch it.. Didnt effect my stay but sad to see. The only slight issue I had was the wifi kept dropping out and being unavailable. There was no EE signal in my room so infairness it was quiet, peaceful and allowed me to finish my book. Bar service and evening meal was great breakfast spot on. Would stay again maybe with a Jane Austin Novel next time

Friendly, helpfull staff. Plenty of parking on site, room was clean and well presented, bathrrom a good size. Beds comfortable and linen crisp and clean.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Staff were really friendly and the communication prior to our visit was expeditiously and professional. My only advice is please be aware that this is a wedding venue and the accommodation block at the rear of the main hotel, whist being comfortable and very good, has quite thin walls. If you are a light sleeper, you may not get the best night's sleep. That being said we still want to give it 5 stars.

Friendly welcome at reception. Comfortable room with everything required. Great service for food and drinks in the bar. Definitely recommend.

A nice hotel, with very friendly staff. Our accommodation was situated in a block outside of main hotel. Room and bathroom was large and clean. Tea / coffee making available in room, along with ironing board and iron. Nice comfy bed. Large bar / dining / seating area in main hotel. Good food, although not a large menu served for dinner. Excellent breakfast. Outside there is a large car park. Although there is a main road passing the hotel, there is very little noise. Good value for money.

Hotel is easy to find and has loads of parking spaces. Hotel staff are friendly and polite but customer service doesn't seem to be much of a priority. My Standard Double was similar to what you'd get in a reasonably priced chain hotel - clean and comfortable. They'd stopped serving food by 8pm with no out-of-hours food options. They directed us to a fast food van nearby which was very good and we ate on the terrace outside. Bar was open 'til 10.30pm. Breakfast was buffet style and very good. There's no air con but my room had a good desk fan which made it bearable in the 30° heat. A good place to stay but it would benefit from a stronger customer service ethos.

It was comfortable, quiet and we enjoyed eating our meals on the terrace.

Convenient being just off the main road, good parking with rooms fat enough back to be quiet. Menu limited but good and reasonably priced. Some of the rooms are a little tired but nothing to spoil the stay. Main hotel was very welcoming

This hotel has unfortunately seen better days. The decor is tired, the staff are tired and we checked out tired after being woken by the fire alarm. We used the hotel as a base for Goodwood Revival as did a number of others who were visiting. It was not all bad - the staff were very friendly and helpful. They were however run off their feet. They had not only a full hotel but a wedding on the Saturday to deal with and from what I could tell there were only three members of staff serving on. Our room was upstairs in the annex. It was clean but basic. The lighting is inadequate and there is neither a telephone (which would have been handy to call reception - more later) or air conditioning. We stayed during the early September heatwave of 2023 and it was 30 degrees outside and 35 indoors. There was no fan in the room. The toilet didn’t flush. It was reported but not fixed. To use the shower over the bath you need to be a contortionist if you’re over four foot tall as the bath is in the eaves. What they were thinking when the other end of what was a 18 foot long bathroom was unimpeded by the ceiling I have no idea. The food in the restaurant was good. The drinks the usual expensive fare - £22 for two g&t’s. The crowning glory was to be woken up at 7.30am on the Sunday morning by the fire alarm. I got dressed and went to reception to find out if the fire brigade were on the way and we were going to be evacuated. I was told that we were not - it was a false alarm!

Nice friendly budget hotel. Could do with a few refinements and updates. Very freindly and helpful staff. Good basic pub style food. We had a small double room which was all we needed bed was comfortable, the bathroom was a bit dated however clean so ok. Maybe hotel could have sone water in the room and sone biscuits maybe with the tea and coffee.

Upon arrivalnthe receptionist was very welcoming, check in was quick and easy. The room had a few minor issues with ot such as creaky floorboards on one side of the room, a noticeable stain on the side of the bed and the bath needed to be cleaned around the edges as it was dusty but other than that the bed was super comfortable, very peaceful at night so sleeping wasn't a issue. Will be back in the near future

We stayed here for one night on the way home from Cornwall as wanted to visit Jane Austen museum. Parking was easy, check in was quick and our evening meal and breakfast were lovely. Our room was clean and comfortable, although a bit dusty. Excellent shower with plenty of hot water. Would stay again.

Stayed in room 117 the room was big but it needs a lot of TLC - walls could do with a freshen up and a nice deep clean . Doors were filthy and mirrors and general room was very dusty and cobwebs . Bath room floors needs a good scrub Beds were hard that I had to sleep on quilt and with towel over me and there was a light out side the room that kept turning on through out the night what woke me up at 3 am and 4 am . Yes u didn’t pay a lot to stay here but even if it was cheaper I would not be returning

Just a standard hotel. Nothing special. Tired fixtures and fittings. Sloppy paintwork and finish. Dusty surfaces and dangerous furnature.

The staff were great, room clean & comfortable & I enjoyed my evening meal & breakfast, what’s not to like. If I ever stay in this area again I’d happily book the Angel hotel again

We should have known from the dirty entrance door, what faced us inside. Our bathroom had mould around the shower area and a split bath panel, the room had a large carpet stain. Our friends room had similar problems in the bathroom and a very lumpy bed. Having said that the staff were fantastic and the food good. Such a pity that the owners didn't share those standards.

Exceptional value for money based on location, very clean, staff very friendly, a great venue.

Not sure why I was given a room with a wall view when the hotel is virtually empty. The shower kept going very hot then very cold.

Good hotel but a little off the beaten track. The hotel staff were great, very friendly and always ready to help. Breakfast and dinner were good. The only things that we could really be critical of is the sound insulation between rooms could be better and the room we had really needs some work on the decorating. For the price we paid for our one night stay it was great value for money and I would certainly stay there again.

Room was very clean but quite small and lacked a bedside table/surface on one side. En suite was also tiny.

Lovely little spot to stop over for the night - nice evening meal (ham, egg and chips), followed by a lovely cooked breakfast in the morning. Comfy bed. Nice and tidy room - only issue was I’m 6ft and couldn’t really stand up in the bath fully for a shower ……….. maybe a check first of the persons height and if the room is right for them?

Our room was not in the main building but rather in what looked like a beach hut. The walls were paper thin so we could heard every cough, sneeze and conversation which made for a horrible night’s sleep. When asked how our room was the next morning, I explained about the noise. I was told that I should have asked for a room in the main building! How was I supposed to know that the room that I was given was so unacceptable? I would never go back to that hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel in the past and I was very disappointed to find no real ale on draught as there has been in the past. The food is good though and although the rooms are starting to look a little 'tired' they are comfortable enough. The paint appeared to be peeling of the wardrobe in my room but that was cleared up after my first night.

Staff were friendly and helpful, check in and out easy. Very pleasant stay. Recommend

Staff are simply the best ! They do what ever they can to make sure your stay is a good one Hotel itself I find fantastic for my requirements as it’s in a perfect position . Most of the time it’s lovely and quiet , although sadly last night , and the very first time in many many stays , a couple came in late , making s hell of a row , without any thought for anyone else, but this is very rare Food is always lovely , and the atmosphere very pleasant.

Quite an old hotel on a main road with nothing around

Working in the area and have stayed here before. Booked only one week initially but then returned for second week as stay was so nice. In the countryside but lots of restaurants and takeaways in short driving distance of the hotel restaurant isn't for you. The burgers here are very good though.
