Everything was terrific except for the parking.

So clean!!! Nice pool and hot tub area. Well lit parking. You can't go wrong staying here. Marco was so nice.

We had a great time staying here! The location was ideal, and it was comfortable and quiet. The only downside was the pool being a bit small and the hot tub out of service, but we would absolutely stay here again.

Expedia rated this place as a 8.8. It was not an 8.8. It was old, not well maintained. Sink didn’t drain, cold shower in the morning. Towels and sheets were not white like they wee supposed to be. Pool was cold, hot tub was out of order. Staff was polite.

We loved our stay. The staff was really friendly and helpful We would’ve given it a 10/10 if it weren’t for 3 things. The 3 things don’t apply to everyone so we hated to give it a bad star review and instead write it out. There’s was very little to sometimes no HOT water in our shower. The pool room was like being in St.Lucia, it was in the middle of the building with no windows or ventilation so the hot tub made the room a wet sauna. My wife opened the door so she could breath while the kids were swimming and she was told, not asked, to close it. The last thing is that the parking isn’t great if you have a full size SUV, pickup truck or anything comparable. Over 1/2 the parking spots are for “compact cars.” Which I don’t get because a lot of people go there as a family or group and drive one of the aforementioned vehicles. The location is great though!

Booked for the pool/hot tub, hot tub broken. You don’t get a reduced rate for it, room was dated & smelled like smoke. Someone’s car alarm kept going off.

The staff when we first checked in were nice. But the staff any other time they were either not present, off hanging out in the breakfast room. The a/c only worked for the bedroom so the rest of the suite was uncomfortably warm until about 2 am when it cooled off. There was little to no hot water to take a shower. It was cold when I took a shower at 1030pm and it was cold at 7 am when my wife took her shower. The family suite is large and there is lots of space. The wet bar is nice. The furniture is old and outdated and the decorator must have been color blind. That doesn’t matter as much since it’s a hotel and it’s not like you are trying to buy it. But a a lot could be done with the rooms. The size of them is really impressive but then your eyes focus on the clashing wallpaper, carpet, and furniture patterns. The indoor heated pool and hot tub was not heated and the chemicals were way off and there was a disgusting froth in the hot tub so no one was really monitoring or making sure the pool was taken care of what was open. I was there till 10 o’clock when it closed, and when the maintenance guy came in to put in the chemical test strip, the chemicals were way off the chart with the number of people they had there they should’ve been checking the pool more. All Hotel Stafford, pretty unattainable to taking care of the things that need to be taken care of in the hotel. They were more interested in hanging out in the breakfast room. Then actually taking care of guest.

Our stay at Rushmore Express started with a bit of confusion—the door handle was installed upside down, so both we and our neighbors initially thought our key cards weren’t working. After two trips to the lobby for reprogramming, staff finally informed us to push up on the handle instead of down. The room’s carpet appeared dirty and didn’t feel sanitary enough for walking barefoot. The bathroom was quite small, and the refrigerator was only a mini size. Additionally, the TV volume was very low, even when turned all the way up, making it difficult to hear. Overall, the stay was functional but fell short of expectations.

I knew this would be a basic hotel, but decided to book due to location (proximity to a race and Mt. Rushmore). Was disappointed to see the state this hotel was in. Super dirty vents visible on the exterior of the building, a bunch of gnats camped out by the sink on our hotel, and not clear (slightly brown) water in our toilet and shower. On the plus side, the people working there were friendly and the breakfast was ok, but I don't think I'd stay here again if given a choice.

Our room had a leaking fire sprinkler so bad there was a brown rust looking streak and there was wet carpet. There were flies in our sink and the bedding was ripped. Front desk staff heavily discounted our room for the inconvenience. The breakfast was decent.

The rustic rooms were well rustic, they show all these nice rooms in the pics then you get to the rooms, full of stains and smelled bad, the bed had stains on the sheets. The toilet water looked like someone already used it wven after flushing.over all very very disappointed.

Sink was dirty. Shower curtain was dirty on the bottom.

Room was very clean and appeared recent in construction. Linens were ample and clean as well. Bar, fridge and furniture all nice. GREAT location super close to Mt. Rushmore and 1880 train. EASY EASY EASY. We will stay again.

It’s a nice enough place. But the carpet in my room was stained and dirty and I felt like I had to wear socks or sandals when walking around in my room.

Apparently this is a hotel/motel and we were in a room in the motel part. The room was spacious, but reeked of cigarette smoke. The refrigerator froze the fruit I placed in it and ruined it. You had to jiggle the toilet to stop it from running. We were given one packet of caffeinated coffee, which was terrible, anyway. Had we been given a room in the remodeled section that was more like a hotel, I believe this review would be totally different. There should be a way to tell where your room is going to be ahead of time. Since we spent most of our time sightseeing, we did not go elsewhere, but I will never stay there again.

We had a suite. The room was clean and huge. We really enjoyed the largebluving room with seating area and fireplace. The tall ceilings really added to it.

The king room with jet tub was incredibly spacious and well decorated. Granite tile everywhere, fireplace, bathroom. Loved that we were able to open the window and great some fresh air. Jacuzzi jets didn’t work great but the room made up for that small shortcoming. Loved this stay!

Everything about the room was awesome. The suite was very spacious, fireplace, 2 TV's, wet bar, quiet, comfortable bed, large clean bathroom, front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. We couldn't have asked for more

The Luxury Rooms were huge like a 1 bedroom apartment.

The bathtub faucet ran all night no matter how much i made sure it shut off. The water was cold in the shower but hot in the whirlpool that was in the room. The people above us kept running around all night and morning.

The room is bigger than expected. Nice location. The bunk bed is shaky; We did not feel safe if a person sleep on the top of the bunk bed.

It was unexpectedly nice and quiet, as it was not located on the main thoroughfare. The double-queen room was roomy and the beds were comfortable. A great family place! One suggestion for the hotel: provide coffee in the lobby starting at 6 a.m., not 7 a.m.

Within 5 minutes of Mount Rushmore! We got the suite with a living room area and fireplace. It was huge and so affordable!

Staff at the front reception desk is one of the best I have seen in 40+ years of our travel. Very professional and friendly group. We had an unusual issue of wasps (half dead) in our room. Apparently, a common, known problem around this time of the year. But, the staff resolved the issue within minutes after I reported it at 10:00 pm. They had to spray around the window and door frames.

Staff was very friendly and willing to help you.

The front desk ladies were very quick in taking action to provide us solution about dirty sheets. Great communication, accomodating, understanding, and patient. For a very tired traveler like me (on my arrival) those are the traits I would want from hotel staff, aside from fresh clean, safe, and quiet room. Simple but filling breakfast is a cherry on top.

My husband and I stayed here a couple of nights on vacation. The location is great, close to Mt. Rushmore and the highways to Custer State Park and many other black hills locations. Room was really clean and spacious. We had a jetted tub in our room, so didn’t use the pool or hotel hot tub, but the area looked really nice. The breakfast was good. We would definitely stay there again.

Our stay was wonderful as always. The staff is great, the beds are comfortable, it’s located within walking distance of everything in town. And only 2-3 miles from Mount Rushmore. It’s also off the Main Street so not a lot of traffic noise.

Proximity to Mount Rushmore was the most important. Hotel was on the older side but rooms were spacious and accommodating.

Close to everything and reasonably priced. Clean property and professional staff. Hot breakfast every day!!!

The location was great close to everything 6 mom's to Mt. Rushmore National Park.

The motel is a good one for our short to visit Rushmore mountain.

Excellent in all aspects, spacious, clean room, great staff, great breakfast.

The rooms are old but adequate could really use an update. The air condition was very noisy and kept coming on and off every 3 minutes or so. The breakfast and the staff that served the breakfast and put everything out was excellent five stars for that.

My original room was in the older section and appeared to not be cleaned. I went to the front desk to complain and without hesitation the receptionist put us in a suite.. very happy with the second room in the new area. The breakfast food was very good, not continental!

Description on Hotels.com is very misleading- only shows the suite rooms, but our room was a very dated motel-style room on the wing of the property. I avoid motels because they are noisy and less secure. Breakfast was very limited and the same every day. Today they ran out of oatmeal and bananas - unbelievable. Bars of soap were the smallest I've ever seen. The only positives were that the room was spacious and clean, and the location is good. There are many other properties at a similar price point in Keystone which would be a better choice.

Room was clean, staff friendly, carpets in hallway on outside of rooms was torn and needs replacing. Coffee and breakfast was less than tasty.

We stayed 5 days and they did not change 1 thing on the breakfast. The eggs were watery and the sausage was pale like it had been boiled. The biscuits barely warm. You had to ask for toilet paper, there were no spare rolls. The tiny soaps were a joke. They were like single use, actually you needed 2 at a time to get any lather. The towels were odd also. The hand towels were kitchen towels. They advertised a pool and hot tub. But when we arrived said it was closed bc of an incident with the city water. But said it ahould be open in a day or 2. I asked again after day 2 and it seemed they were doing nothing to open the pool. Big disappointment for our daughter and her friend. I would not stay here again nor recommend it.

Hotel was very close to Mount Rushmore. We visited twice since our parking pass was good for a year. Free breakfast with eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy among other things like yogurt, cereal, and fruit. Check in was easy, room was clean, staff was very friendly. We had a stink bug and wasp that found their way into our room, but we disposed of them. I suspect this is because the room opens to outdoors. Our stay was very nice.
