The Bank Hotel

We had a family room 205 which looks over the backyards, not the street, so it was very quiet. Plenty of room for the 3 of us. Nice espresso machine and a kettle but the small fridge didn’t work well. Large bathroom with heated floors 😁. Front staff was very helpful. Good location for restaurants. About 15 minutes to the Central station. Was pleased with the stay.

For its genre of funky local property, this one is tops. It's super clean, has a great shower and fixtures, and helpful staff. What annoyed me is the way you enter the place. First, yes, there's a sign identifying the place as the Bank Hotel -- but the entry itself is not marked, so you kinda have to guess which door and what to do. They say the city forbids them to modernize the exterior in order to identify the entry. But I'll bet there's a creative solution out there. OK fine, deal with it. And then, when I came back late one night, freezing and dripping wet (bring your umbrella), no one answered the bell I'd been told to ring. Quite some time went by and finally I saw someone inside and knocked on the window. The guy said why didn't you wave your room key over the lock (in a needlessly mocking tone, I thought) to open the door. You know why? Nobody told me it worked like that! In the dark it sure doesn't look like a hotel lock. But -- other than the entrance situation, I really liked this place and would stay here again. I liked it better than my friend's room at the Hilton.

Stunning view of Amsterdam from the Panthouse! The elevator only reached one level below the panthouse so we had to carry our luggage up on the narrow stairway.

Nice property, the room was clean. The shower had a ceiling shower, which is always a plus for me. The AC was very quiet, another nice touch. The front desk workers were very helpful and nice to interact with. The central station is close, but not super close, especially when you are carrying luggage and it’s a hot day.

Great location just a 15 minute walk from Amsterdam's main train station in a neighborhood with lots of unique shops and plenty of food options. Easy walk to the Dam and other central locations in the city. My single room was larger than I expected (still small!) with a spacious bathroom. Very clean. Very important, if you visit in summer: the room had air conditioning! And the building has an elevator. The furniture is a bit tired, but the bed was comfortable.

Very helpful staff. Great location, easy to walk to all tourist areas. Great wifi. Has a lift which is great with bags and at the end of the day when you are tired. They loaned us a power adapter for the 4 nights so we could charge our phones etc whilst staying there. We will definitely stay there again.

very close to train station, large room, comfortable beds, large bathroom with heated floors. Fridge but no safe. Very very helpful staff. We were able to leave our luggage there overnight when we went elsewhere.

If you stay in penthouse on 5th floor, elevator only goes to 4th floor. You will need to climb a flight of narrow stairs. Staff is very helpful and will carry your suitcases up this 1 set of stairs and down when you check out. We had a wonderful view from penthouse room 501 of the church and surrounding homes. The birds were flying up to the top of the church and we could watch them up close.

The hotel staff was friendly and check in was smooth . Though the main door is not so obvious but you will feel safe as the door is locked and you will need to ring the bell.

Smell in the room, ? from the bath in the room. Not sure, still present with all the windows opened. Unlikely to stay there again. Breakfast items were not good quality. Had coffee only.

The location was amazing and the bed and bathroom great but the room was tired looking and the walls were very scuffed and there was a big stain on the chair.

Cute hotel with very helpful staff. Relatively close to train station and a hip little street with great restaurants and shopping. It didn't feel packed with tourists as streets closer to the station. The room was huge with a separate seating area and we could listen to the birds through the giant sliding doors overlooking back yards and a church. The only issue is completely solvable: it wasn't well cleaned. There was a lot of dust behind the bathroom door, drips on the hardwood floor, hair in the drawer, finger marks on the bathroom door, and a prominent stain on the arm chair. Just a little more TLC from housekeeping would make this a 10/10.

The hotel is in a perfect location! It has a lot of potential if it were better maintained & the staff more knowledgeable. We booked with Hotels.com, & the photos led us to believe we reserved a room with a balcony; the only reason we chose the hotel, as an outdoor space was essential for our six-day stay. Upon arrival, we were informed our room did not have a balcony. Although the receptionist said they would look into the photos, we were not offered any compensation. We asked to change rooms, but all the rooms with balconies were already booked. The hotel could really use a deep clean. The walls in the stairwell leading to the rooms are dirty, the place needs fresh paint, & the housekeeping staff needs improvement. Our bathroom had a musty smell, with moldy caulk around the shower. The sink did not drain properly, & the overflow pipe was taped up, which seemed to be the source of the bad odor. We mentioned this to reception, but nothing was done. The bathtub hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests, & despite bringing this to the staff’s attention, it was never cleaned, so we didn’t use it. The floors were “clean” except for the dust and dirt under the furniture, which looked like it was never moved, leaving dust on the wood floors. Redeeming factors were the comfortable bed & the prime location. If the hotel improved its cleanliness, ensured the photos were accurate, & provided staff with more training, this place could be a gem! Truly not sure we would return.

The Bank Hotel is a excellent small hotel at a great price perfect for a short stay. It was very clean and the junior studio we stayed in (4 adults) was roomy and pleasant. It looked recently renovated. The Bath was large and had enough towels for all. Everything worked. Bed were comfortable. The staff downstairs was super pleasant and helpful. We arrived very early so left our luggage in their little shared luggage room and it was fine. There is an elevator (small but did the job). The area is great. lots of shops and restaurants and not too far from old town. Lots to do (but watch out for the bicyclist LOL). We only stayed one night before returning home to US. Once at the airport we realized my sister had left her iPad in the room. We quickly called and they found it. We didn't have time to pick it up or even go out to wait for a taxi to bring it to us so we asked them to ship it (from Amsterdam to California) to us. They shipped it that day. A week later it arrived in great shape. Such helpful and nice people. Thanks again.

The staff is very friendly and extremely accommodating. The hotel is clean and in close proximity to the train station, many restaurants, and canals. The beds are too firm for us, but they're like that at most hotels. The penthouse room with a city view is amazing!

Hotel room was extremely dirty when we arrived in room. The toilet still had poo stains in bowl. The bath was dirty, had not be cleaned. The coffee pods were not refilled even though it stated they would be daily. We asked for more water for the room and the front desk guy told me to drink out of the tap in the room I.e the bathroom. I did offer to pay for this water. Dirty towels were folded back up to reuse. Day staff were nice however. At $500 a night Australian dollars I would expect a lot lot more.

Quarto mais velho, porém muito bom de espaço. Banheiro excelente. Hotel mais localizado perto da estação de trem o que facilita para quem tem que pegar o trem para ir para outro país. É um hotel basico, mas que atende muito bem as expectativas

Great room loads of space ideal location

A room with a great view! You have to walk up to the top floor, but when you get there, you are treated to lots of space, a fantastic view and a comfortable bed! The staff were wonderful and helpful. It could have more hooks for towels in the bathroom and some USB plug ins but the location, space and view more than make up for this.

Our room was spacious, with lovely views of the Amsterdam centrum rooftops, with great shopping nearby, great restaurants and tourist sites,but off the super busy main streets. It was so quiet! You wouldn’t know there was anyone else in the building, though it was full. And the noise from the street was non existent. Great staff, so helpful with arrangements for early checkin and late checkout. Wonderful stay! And a good breakfast selection.

I had a great time in Amsterdam. The hotel is very close to the trams and central station. The staff are amazing! The only issue is the noise factor, from the other guest and the elevator. Thin walls

The Bank is a boutique hotel, the rooms are small, but the beds are very comfortable and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The Haarlemmerstraat is a great neighborhood. We enjoyed our two stays here before and after our trip to Italy.

Very unique in its decorating in the room that we were in. The view was spectacular from our room. Definitely what we had in our thoughts of a Dutch building. The staff were friendly and very helpful. They knew where we could find the certain requests we had. We really liked our stay there.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED this hotel. The staff was amazing, they knew us by name which I always find makes me feel special, like they actually care. They were so attentive and helpful. We really enjoyed the breakfast, so many good options. I appreciate that it is a small hotel. The surrounding area was great too. Good food all around, great shopping, the cafes are lovely and so are the people. I can’t wait to go back and I know exactly where I’m staying!

This was our first stay with the bank hotel and we were very impressed with Simon and the staff. We highly recommend staying here and will certainly do so on our next visit to Amsterdam.

Our flight was cancelled and we had a lovely last minute stay here! Simon was super helpful and made our check-in very smooth, and the hotel is clean, in a super cute area, and overall very lovely. Definitely recommend and would love to stay again!

It’s a 10 minute walk from the train station and in a quiet, foodie neighbourhood. We picked the perfect spot- and the resident cat greeted us!

My go to hotel when i want to stay near Amsterdam Centraal. Close enough, but far enough from the station on Harleemstraat that you feel truly in the mix of the local life

It is a unique location and is within close walking distance to downtown and central station and other amenities. Highly recommended.

The location and Hotel were great. I was surprised with how dirty the streets were. It is also a very busy bike traffic area so walking to/from the hotel was challenging at times.

Hotellet ligger i gåafstand fra alt havd vi havde planlagt i byen. Meget smilenden og imødekommende personale, der var særdeles serviceminded. Værelset var stort og utroligt lækkert. Morgenmaden var ok. Den var ikke overdådig, men vi blev mætte hver morgen.

Spacious rooms, wonderful employees, great location. We were pleasantly surprised and loved the hotel. Breakfast is just average but everything else was great.

Extremely well located property. Good shower, linen etc. breakfast was a little basic but fine. All in all, good value.

Breakfast in second day was not good. Less vesitables and fruits even though tall hotel man walking around the breakfast room. Ladies at the reception and Asian man were very kind and heart warming!
