This little village pub is just that, a village pub. It is well supported by the villagers and people returning home after work were dropping in for a drink and a catch up. The food is very good and reasonably priced. It is a little old fashioned, but the beds are comfortable and the pillows squashy enough to ensure a good night’s sleep. I would stay again if in the area.

This is a wonderful old village pub with excellent food, great service and a larger than life Landlord. We stayed one night here, were made very welcome and enjoyed the great choices of dishes for our evening meal before a roaring log fire. The Whitby Scampi and chips followed by traditional 'Spotted Dick and custard was served very quickly and was delicious. The small bar was busy with locals and folk staying at the pub and it was a very friendly atmosphere. Our room was fairly small but clean,warm, with a kettle and hairdryer, TV and was en-suite. The bed was quite comfortable but the mattress could do with replacing as it was slightly dished at the centre. Breakfast was served in the dining room and was quickly served. Nothing was too much trouble and was served by the Landlord who was a mine of information. I would heartily recommend this pub.

Only spent 1 night here, lovely beer garden at back of pub, full of flowers. Olde worlde pub, quaint. We stayed for our evening meal , I had the fish pie with veg, and my husband had the steak pie and chips, which were delicious. You have to go to the bar for your drinks. Everyone was very friendly. Happy with our room, as it was hot there was a fan to use. Bed a bit soft for us. Maybe take a torch for during the night as it was very dark! We stayed for breakfast, £10 each for full English with orange juice, tea or coffee and toast and jam. Very good value, would recommend.

Quiet location and remote, had trouble getting taxis in and out of Thursk. Chris was so helpful with taxi numbers. He was a hive of information all round. The Hotel rooms were lovely and clean but a bit dated, but that wouldn’t stop me from returning. The food here is exceptional, from a full English to the evening meal. Although this is a pub, please be aware that it doesn’t open till 5pm and that’s every day. Besides that it was a lovely stay. Very small and friendly village. Thank you Chris & Bev.

We stayed en route to Guisborough to break the journey up. The landlord actually called us to see if we would want food so they could prepare something before they closed. He was very attentive, friendly and helpful, from that call to the moment we checked out. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms are spacious, clean with everything you’d need. It’s a typical coaching house. Yes - as others have said, it’s out in the sticks, so peaceful and quiet. It’s not five star luxury, but if you’re looking for homely, welcoming & inviting them I’d definitely recommend. It is off the beaten track, however, if you’re looking to explore the area it’s a perfect base for Thirsk, Ripon, Harrogate, York, Sheffield, The Yorkshire Moors and much more.

Had a lovely stay at the bay horse country inn, Thirsk The room was beautiful and spotless, fluffy white towels, and the most amazingly comfortable bed, the host was lovely got there early so we could check in we will definitely be returning as it was the perfect stay highly recommended

Excellent 2 night stay. All staff extremely friendly and welcoming. This is an old property with old property problems, features and character; that said, our room was perfect for our needs, clean and comfortable. Our host Chris was friendly and seemed as though he would go out of his way to make your stay just right. Ate in pub both nights and the home cooked food by Bev was wonderful. You order breakfast, if you want it, the night before; we had basic breakfasts which were a good price and exactly what we wanted. Locals in the pub were friendly and along with Chris and Bev chatted and recommended places to go in the bar after food. A lovely stay overall. Thank You.

Such a lovely and relaxing stay at the Bay Horse Inn! A beautiful location and a very comfortable night’s sleep. Friendly and informative staff were very helpful upon check-in and check-out. I only stayed one night as I was in the area for work, but would definitely return with my family to enjoy a leisure visit and exploring more of the area.

Just a one night stay room basic but comfortable short on electric plugs but inexpensive convenient for the flower show at Newbury Hall.Evening meal was very good and so was breakfast both were very good value for money and the hosts were very friendly and attentive.

We stayed here for a Sunday night on the way home from a weekend away. The staff and locals were friendly, food was great and the room comfortable enough although the floorboards were really creaky in our room (although it is an older building so it is to be expected) We would definitely stay here again, should the opportunity arise

This is an old property with old property problems, features and character; that said, our room was perfect for our needs, clean and comfortable. Our host Chris was friendly and seemed as though he would go out of his way to make your stay just right. Ate in pub both nights and the home cooked food by Bev was wonderful. You order breakfast, if you want it, the night before; we had basic breakfasts which were a good price and exactly what we wanted. Locals in the pub were friendly and along with Chris and Bev chatted and recommended places to go in the bar after food. A lovely stay overall. Thank You.

Quiet location and remote, had trouble getting taxis in and out of Thursk. Chris was so helpful with taxi numbers. He was a hive of information all round. The Hotel rooms were lovely and clean but a bit dated, but that wouldn’t stop me from returning. The food here is exceptional, from a full English to the evening meal. Although this is a pub, please be aware that it doesn’t open till 5pm and that’s every day. Besides that it was a lovely stay. Very small and friendly village. Thank you Chris & Bev.

We stayed en route to Guisborough to break the journey up. The landlord actually called us to see if we would want food so they could prepare something before they closed. He was very attentive, friendly and helpful, from that call to the moment we checked out. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms are spacious, clean with everything you’d need. It’s a typical coaching house. Yes - as others have said, it’s out in the sticks, so peaceful and quiet. It’s not five star luxury, but if you’re looking for homely, welcoming & inviting them I’d definitely recommend. It is off the beaten track, however, if you’re looking to explore the area it’s a perfect base for Thirsk, Ripon, Harrogate, York, Sheffield, The Yorkshire Moors and much more.

Lovely village pub perfect location for us to visit fountains Abbey rooms were comfortable and lovely and warm its basic but thats all part of the charm of this lovely old pub breakfast was an extra £10 each but was delicious and plenty of it the landlord made sure we were well looked after and had everything we wanted.we had a few drinks in the bar and there was plenty of choice and it was nice and cosy area to catch up with friends. Would stay again.

A lovely quirky country pub. Good location for the North Yorkshire moors. Menu in the pub was sufficient, we had really good tasty food. Our room was fine, comfy bed, clean & good shower. There was tea & coffee making facilities, with a good supply of the same.

Its a village pub. Vegi food was disgraceful but fine if you want a supermarket quiche warmed up and you want to pay £16 for it with re-fried chips! Window was held open by a block of wood! Bed was very rock and roll!
